Hellhound At Supernatural Academy-Chapter 36: Final Regimen Begins
Chapter 36: Final Regimen Begins
The next couple of days went by just like the previous three. We were woken up at 7 a.m. every morning and given a piece of paper outlining the training regimen and tasks assigned for the day. It was currently day seven, which meant the training regimen would end tomorrow. I woke up a little earlier than usual.
I woke up around 5 a.m. and left the camp to find a quiet and secluded area for a two hour meditation session. When the time came I went back to the campsite where the teachers had already started distributing papers for today's training regimen.
Today's training regimen would be a game of capture the flag. Each group would be given a flag, and we would earn one noble point for every flag we collected from another team, along with the noble points the members of the team accumulated throughout the entire training regimen.
This event would go against most of the pre-established rules set by the school. For starters, this exercise would span two days straight, and the rule requiring all student to be in a designated campsite between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. would no longer be in effect.
That's right—capture the flag would also take place at night. We would have to be constantly looking over our shoulders. As usual, we packed up our things and left the campsite as soon as we received our flag. The flag was yellow, about 8 inches long, and had the names of all the group members written on it.
Once we were far enough from the campsite, we stopped to strategize.
"So, what should we do?" Ava asked.
"I think we should split up," I suggested. "It wouldn't be wise to attack other groups while carrying our own flag. We should have one person protecting our flag while the other two attack other groups to steal their flag."
"That sounds good, but who will protect the flag and who will attack?"
"I think you and I should do the attacking. As he said before, I don't think Leto will be up for attacking other students; it's best if he guards the flag instead. Do you have a problem with that?" I turned to Leto.
"Tch. It's fine, whatever."
"Okay, good. We should set up a place and time to meet up back."
"How about the plateau near F1? It's pretty secluded," Ava suggested.
"That should be fine. Let's meet there around 5."
With everyone's approval, Ava and I separated from Leto in search of groups to attack. Our first target was a group consisting of two male students and a female. We effortlessly incapacitated them and took their flag.
"You're enjoying this, aren't you?" Ava said, giving me a judgmental look.
"Why do you think I'm some psychopath who likes hurting people?"
"Because you are. And you don't exactly give off a good-guy aura. You're like the evil villain in a trashy light novel or something."
"Sarah said I was cool, like the MC in a manga."
"Tch. As if that girl has any idea of what's cool! Do me a favor and never bring her up while we're talking again!"
"O-okay."
"Anyway, let's just go."
After that, we continued to find other groups and capture their flags. In total, we captured six flags and were going for our seventh. There was another group about 400 meters away from us. We stealthily made our way over to them, ensuring they didn't notice our presence. That's when something strange happened: one of the presences disappeared completely.
My instincts told me something was wrong and that I should retreat, but another part of me felt it was too late for that. I decided to resort to another means of finding the person. A person could hide their scent or be stealthy enough to avoid making any sound, but there was one thing they couldn't hide—their heat signature.
Though it had a limited range—restricted to how far I could see—I could still detect a person's heat signature, something they couldn't hide. With this ability, I could spot anything from the smallest insects, like ants, to plant life and even clumps of bacteria.
"What's going on? Your eyes have an orange glow to them." Ava asked.
"Someone's after us."
There he was. After a few seconds of scanning the area, I spotted him hiding amongst a cluster of trees, stealthily inching closer to us. I recognized him instantly— it was Liam, the leader of Class A and Ava's prince charming. Her attachment to him will make this a pain in the ass, maybe I should just give up and leave. Going against Liam will probably make me the enemy of all the girls in the school. But still....
"Who is it?" Ava asked. "Can you see him?"
What was he doing? An ambush. He was positioned perfectly to intercept us if we went after his teammates. But still, there might be a way to salvage this. Making enemies seems to be one of my special skills, maybe its time to embrace it.

If they desire it that much... then fine I'll be their villain.
"It looks like it's Oliver. He's a member of my class. His ability allows him to become invisible, which is why I couldn't sense him before. He's right over there." I pointed in the direction where Liam was hiding. "He shouldn't be hard to deal with. While you go after him, I'll take the flag from his teammates."
Using Ava as bait to deal with Liam, I could capture their team's flag from Katherine and Julius. With Ava going after Liam, I hurried to confront Katherine and Julius. From atop a tall tree, I gazed down at them as they scanned the area for signs of threats.
Julius was the one carrying their flag, probably so that Katherine could protect him. They also seemed to have capture flags from other groups, they were as many as ours, I'll have to snag them for myself.
Having found my target, I decided to make my appearance. I hopped off the tree, landing on my feet. The sound of my landing made both of them turn to face me.
"W-What are you doing here?! Where's Liam?!" Katherine asked, evidently startled by my sudden appearance.
"He's a little busy right now," I answered. "He asked me to collect your flag and bring it back to him. If I'm not mistaken, he said that Julius was the one carrying it. Am I wrong?"
"You really think we'll believe that asshole?! You better leave if you know what's good for you!" Julius shouted.
"We're not as nice as Liam. If you plan on taking our flag, we'll make you suffer. It's best you leave and find another group's flag to capture because there's no way in hell you're getting ours."
"We'll have to see about that."
