Help! I Became A Guy In A BL Novel!-Chapter 170: Missed You
Chapter 170: Missed You
"I guess it wouldn’t be so bad?" Riven said with uncertainty.
Soren found it pleasing, even though others would find it odd.
"So... Are we going to do anything?" Riven asked, his wolf ears twitching in anticipation, betraying his barely contained excitement. His green eyes sparkled with hope, he tried to sound nonchalant, but that failed.
Soren raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed as he sat at the edge of the bed. "No," he said simply, voice even and firm.
Riven blinked. "No?" His ears twitched again, this time with confusion. He scooted closer, his expression falling into a soft pout. "Why not?" he asked with a small, almost whiny tone. "I’ve been gone forever, and now you’re just gonna cuddle me?"
Before Soren could answer, he reached forward and tugged Riven by the wrist. The next second, Riven yelped as he was pulled into Soren’s embrace, both of them tumbling onto the bed in a heap of limbs and muffled laughter. The covers tangled around them like a net, but Soren didn’t let go.
Once they’d settled, Riven was tucked against his chest, his nose pressed to the soft fabric of Soren’s shirt. The sound of his heartbeat was steady. Comforting. Familiar.
Soren stroked a hand down Riven’s back. "Because we have six more days," he said softly. "Six full days. No interruptions. Just us, you will not be leaving this bed."
"Is that a promise?" Riven asked eagerly.
Soren exhaled, his fingers pausing briefly as they reached the base of Riven’s tail.
"I missed you," Soren admitted, almost inaudible. Very much. He wanted to go to the wolf territory himself. Or bring Riven back earlier than the agreed-upon time.
And maybe for the first time, he was afraid of losing... No, even if Riven and Ronan had become closer, and even if Riven chooses to stay with Ronan and refuses to come with him... He would drag him back.
Soren’s true nature started to come out.
Soren, resting his chin atop Riven’s head, did not admit his thoughts out loud. He missed Riven a lot. He thought of him every night when he had to sleep alone in this large room. He wanted to hold him close, so close that they would merge with each other.
Even when he said they had 6 days left, he hated it. Why couldn’t Riven stay here forever? Why was fate cruel enough to do this to him? Perhaps it was karma for all that he had done whilst climbing to this position.
Riven went quiet. The whiny edge vanished from his tone as he shifted to look up at Soren, his hand curling around the front of his shirt. "I guess can make do with this skin-to-skin contact." He rubbed himself against Soren’s chest, making himself comfortable.
"So," Riven began, his voice muffled against Soren’s chest, "we went back to my childhood home."
Soren’s fingers paused their gentle tracing along Riven’s back. He tilted his head slightly, indicating he was listening.
"I confronted my father," Riven continued, his tone a mix of defiance and vulnerability. "And I made him angry, so I’d say that I have been successful haha."
Soren tightened his hold, pressing a kiss to Riven’s temple. "I’m proud of you," he murmured. "Confronting an abuser takes courage." He said solemly.
Riven knew of Soren’s past. He, too, had to confront his abuser. And he did so successfully.
Riven chuckled softly. "Yeah, well, it was about time. The wolf clan is still my family, dysfunctional as it may be. I want to help them, make things better."
Soren nodded, his expression thoughtful. "I heard the King of the Lion pride is making his way towards the wolf clan." Since Riven is intent on saving the wolf clan, it was his job to make things easier for him.
Riven’s ears perked up. "Leon?
Soren smirked. "The very same. Nothing good ever comes from his visits. He thrives on exploiting weaknesses."
Riven groaned. "Great. Just what we need."
Soren’s eyes narrowed slightly. "He’s always been a thorn in my side. Arrogant and devious."
Riven sat up slightly, concern etched on his face. "I should probably write to Ronan, give him a heads-up."
Soren nodded in agreement. "Better to be prepared."
He held Riven tighter at the mention of the Alpha. Just so that he knew who he really belonged to.
As Riven reached for his notepad, Soren pulled him back gently. "Later," he whispered. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Soren hated Leon, that arrogant, pompous bastard. Well, mostly because they both loved to take advantage of a weakness, and sometimes Leon beat him to the chase, costing him.
Riven tilted his head, his ears twitching slightly as he lay curled up against Soren. "What can you tell me about Leon?" he asked, feigning casual interest, though his tone was anything but.
He already knew the basics—Leon was the King of the Lion pride, powerful, calculating, and extremely influential in the world of shifters. But he wanted to hear it from Soren. What Soren thought always carried more weight.
Soren’s lips twitched in a displeased frown, and his arms tightened just slightly around Riven. He exhaled slowly, like the very name was enough to sour his mood.
"Like I already said," Soren began, "he’s nothing but trouble."
Riven made a soft sound, encouraging him to go on.
Soren stared up at the ceiling for a second, gathering his thoughts. "Leon’s not stupid. That’s the worst part. He knows exactly how to get under people’s skin. He provokes, plays games, manipulates emotions, and when someone snaps, he makes sure he’s holding all the evidence. Somehow, he’s always one step ahead.
Riven let out a low whistle. "Charming."
"And smug," Soren added bitterly. "He has this smile—like he knows a secret you don’t. Like he already won and you’re just playing catch-up."
Riven chuckled. "You sound like you’ve had experience."
"I’ve crossed paths with him a few times," Soren muttered, clearly not pleased by the memories. "Let’s just say he likes to take advantage of any opening. Physically, politically, emotionally. If he can find a crack, he digs in."
