Chapter 29: Combat Training II

Azaria began instructions on how to activate, channel and control skills in general to the gathered heroes.

The process was quite straightforward, but still, it would have taken denizens of this world, months, if not years to to channel mana for the first time into skills.

But for these heroes ?. Most got the gist of it in only a couple of minutes. The lightning hero for example was able to conjure sparks of lightning on his fingertips in less than thirty minutes.

The flame hero was able to channel and conjure an inferno, in less than twenty minutes.

While the Blade hero was able to activate aura on his weapon in less than five.

All the other heroes followed suit in no time, tapping into their affinities and bringing the raw power to life channeled through their mana.

However, because the volume of mana they currently possess was so minuscule, they had to take a lot of breaks to recharge and repeat. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

None of them could activate their exclusive divine skills yet because they do not possess even one quarter of the mana required to do so.

The benefits the heroes were currently enjoying right now, was their absurd growth rate in mastering fighting techniques, manipulating mana and creating and developing skills.

Skills created would align with their affinities; which is highly dependent on the divine skills they had awakened.

Zorat watched with enjoyment as these heroes trained, sweat dripping down their faces and bodies.

But he could see them improving in real time, it was a novel experience, and strangely bizarre. They were cheating. That’s what heroes are, cheaters.

There was no such thing in the hell dimension. You had to draw sweat and blood for every little minuscule progress you can make.

Zorat knew the reason. The divine authority fragments they were given, which was disguised as a divine skill, was the power responsible for this ridiculous rate of advancement. Still, it was quite impressive to see.

After a little over an hour, seeing as the heroes were already physically and mentally exhausted; the knight commander called the lesson for the day to a stop.

She then instructs them all to practice in their own time as the duration of their training would progressively become longer as the days rolled by.

A look of relief washed over some of the heroes, while others were still eager to learn more, and would no doubt practice more in their own free time.

Zorat watched as the knight commander retreated, but not before casting one last menacing look in his direction, while he returned a dashing smile to her.

I have my eyes on you too, little demon ..hehehe

None of the heroes moved to return to their abodes; they just hung around, some seated on the floor as they shared their thoughts.

Zorat was pleased to see Erica walking towards him with a bright smile on her face.

Her curly sun-kissed hair flowed gently behind, as the glimmer from the morning sun accentuates her curvaceous bod, in those tight fitting training pants and top.

"You are really something, Caleb." Erica muttered giggling as she leaned on the same pillar as Zorat.

"What? Because I don’t want to train ?. It’s pointless for me, you know. "

"Still.... It would help keep you safe to have something other than your divine skill to rely on ..."

"As you know, none of us can even use our divine skills at the moment..."

"...And yours in particular is not exactly combat oriented now is it." Erica said with concern to Zorat. He could feel how genuine her feelings were.

And he knew he was getting his roots properly inside her.

"Alright then. I don’t like that angry commander training me... but if it’s you ... maybe I’ll learn." Zorat said with a slight grin.

"Ptfff!. You want to learn from me when I am also only learning ?." she snorted out a laugh at Zorat’s statement.

"Ah... but what can I do ?. I can only learn from pretty women I like." Zorat muttered in resignation.

Erica, taken aback by Zorat’s words, was flustered with her cheeks turning red she mumbled."Hmph. Liar."

Zorat and Erica continued to talk and laugh with one another. In just a few hours, Erica was finding Caleb’s company, more and more enjoyable.

This left the rest of the heroes wondering how those two had suddenly gotten so close.

While some didn’t care much, and were only just more curious about their previously ordinary classmate, Caleb...

Two people in particular were having strong varied reactions to their sudden closeness. None of them positive.

Ava the stealth hero, looked like she’s about to initiate a massacre at any moment, as her twin blade daggers sliced through the air in practice. Ariana by her side was looking worried. Ava has been acting so differently, and she thinks she might know the reason.

The other person this time was Broddy, who was seated shirtless on a raised pavement with Roberto, and he was looking at the direction of the duo and letting out repeated sighs..

"Erica is acting strange, Roberto." Broddy said slowly, still looking in the direction of the two.

"How so, friend Broddy?" Roberto replied almost uninterested, and just focussed on the spear he was holding.

"Well... I think it is because of last night...."

"I didn’t leave the party with her... and waited for Jacob." Broddy said gloomily.

"Ah. It’s a small matter, friend Broddy."

"You are right in coming to me. For there is no one as romantic as Roberto." he declared with a confident smile, throwing his head back like a maiden letting down her lustrous hair.

"But... how will I fix it ?."

"Chin up, friend Broddy. Roberto will help you."

Zorat was still in conversation with Erica. Luckily he had inherited all memories of the former Caleb...

Including his campus life, their professors’ personalities, some special staff and students.

This way whenever Erica broached a topic he should know of, he just sifts through his memories and gives a fitting response.

It was while they were deep in conversation that Zorat felt a large hand clasp his left shoulder. Turning in amusement to see who it was...

He couldn’t be more delighted by the person’s appearance. Persons actually.

It was again the shoemaker duo, and they were of course in their royal guard uniforms with weapons strapped to their waists.

The larger brother with his hand on Zorat’s shoulder had a smug grin on his face when he uttered...

"The Grand vizier has ordered your presence....tra...item box hero."
