Help! the four Alpha's are obsessed with me.-Chapter 145 Innocent Michael II
Food rolled out, looking appetizing and pleasing, that Daniel could only gulp.
"I didn’t know you were pregnant?" Michael winked as he dropped a plate of rice and stew on the table. Daniel turned to him; even he himself never knew at that time he was pregnant, so he wasn’t the only one.
"I had no idea that period that I was carrying a baby, so just see it as something unexpected," Daniel replied and came closer to where the food was dropped.
"It looks delicious. Are you the one that cooked it?" Daniel asked, and Michael shook his head.
"Learnt from my mom; she owned a restaurant, may her soul rest in peace." Michael prayed and closed his eyes.
Daniel, who had begun eating, had a sorry look on him. He didn’t even know whether to apologize or just offer a word of condolence.
"So sorry, Mike, about your parent." Saying this, he saw a smile splatter on his face, and he groaned in frustration.
Does he ever stop smiling? Like it was getting on his nerves.
"Thank you, Daniel, and I remembered your name that day. This look suits you so much; I meant the feeling of compassion." And he went away, leaving Daniel to his food.
Compassion his ass. To him, in such a world as this, foolish kindness kills you, and that’s what ended that little boy’s life. An attempt to help him has pushed him to an early grave, so to hell with compassion.
Him enjoying the food was an understatement; it was damn delicious. The chicken itself, topped on the rice, was a perfection, its tender flesh giving Daniel that thrill. God, this was it. As if Daniel knew what happened, he had filled up his plate. But why, in the midst of eating, he couldn’t get off this feeling that someone was watching him, and it was unsettling.
With a final scoop from his rice, he turned back and met the stranger: a little girl who stood at a corner observing him.
"Are you going to come here and join me or just stand there?" Daniel asked, and slowly the female approached him. Dan could see the striking resemblance between her and Michael. She looked so innocent too, and when walking he noticed her limp and saw two crutches beside her which she used to support herself.
To his horror, the girl had no legs.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. Not wanting to make the girl feel uncomfortable, he removed his intense gaze and looked somewhere.
"Sorry for startling you previously; I just couldn’t believe that Michael let in someone here, which hasn’t happened since I was born." Her statement and thrill made him frown.
She was saying he has never brought in visitors, and he right now was the first one for so long. This news didn’t make him happy; instead, he was uncomfortable. What could make a person not want visitors? Like, he couldn’t fathom what reason that could be. Or was he just an introvert? But that greetings outside says otherwise.
"I’m Cindy, his young and only sister," she explained, and Daniel could just nod; he could see that right here, he wasn’t blind.
So she sat and sighed.
"I caught you looking at my legs; it was a terrible incident for both me and Michael," she began.
Daniel didn’t know how to feel with her trusting him with that information, which he knew should be kept confidential.
"Are you sure you’re supposed to be telling me this? This is personal, and I just came today," Daniel replied, clearing his throat.
"I trust you because if Michael doesn’t feel comfortable with you, he wouldn’t have invited you in, and I don’t know, I feel like I can talk to you," she responded.
Daniel gawked at her. Was she serious now? Feel like she could trust him for what exactly? Because her brother invited him in? What a weird way of thinking.
"I’m sure talking with you would be so nice, but I don’t think I am in the right mind to hear your problems, so maybe later," Daniel dismissed her as kindly as he could. He wasn’t sure he could survive a torturous session of hearing someone’s heartfelt grief; he would lose his senses if he mistakenly sat down through this discussion.
Standing on his feet, he walked out of the dining table, finding a nice bedroom to sleep on. How tired and exhausted was he right now? But the girl began to sob at that moment, making him confused.
Did he offend her?
"Cindy, what’s wrong?" He was cringing so hard at this part of him, but it couldn’t be helped.
"It’s my look, right? You feel disgusted by me and do not want to look, right?" she asked, still crying. Daniel saw her vulnerability; he would surely love to hear this poor soul’s story, but right now his memory couldn’t handle it. He was so weak and needed a good hour’s rest.
He might not be comfortable sleeping eyes closed in a stranger’s place, but knowing Michael, he wouldn’t do that. He relaxed but remembered that quiet ones like this are the most dangerous.
Smiling like how he does doesn’t make him a saint, and who knows what he does in secret, only to come and mask it all with a smile as eerie as that.
He eventually hugged the girl, massaging her scalp and stroking her blond hair.
"You’re an awesome lady, beautiful in your way. I don’t hate you and never will; just that I am tired, being in a journey throughout the day and want to rest my head so bad," he explained this to her, and it calmed her down eventually.
"Can you do me the honors of showing me a visitor’s room?" he asked, and Cindy carried her crutches before limping to the front.
Life as usual was unfair. How can a lonely girl, a beauty like her, lose both of her legs? How would she ever fit in?
Seeing her, he was reminded of his own self: that insecure boy years back who would fight to seek everyone’s validation, even if it meant hurting himself. But now he has grown to love himself the way he is and realized that they were just a bunch of evil souls who want to tarnish his life, and his parents weren’t an exception.
Just need things to cool down; he will be back, and his family would never see him coming till it’s too late.
