Chapter 49: It’s Place

Amber woke up and looked at Jason who was still sleeping beside her. She smiled as she remembered last night and thought to herself that maybe being Jason’s wife for a year or two wouldn’t be that bad, because not only was he good in bed, but once she married him, she would be able to transfer half of the Lennox wealth to her name.

Amber slowly got up and put on her clothes, she spared a glance at Jason and thought of how good-looking he was as he slept before leaving.

Jason woke up and found himself alone in a hotel room. Memory of what happened last night hit him, and the fact that he hadn’t used any protection made him feel like he was truly an idiot.

Although Amber has sworn she was on birth control, her words could not be guaranteed because she was drunk and high on lust, so anything she had said might just have been for the moment.

While he was thinking of how he screwed up by sleeping with Amber without using a condom, the realization that he just slept with Eliana’s sister hit him hard. How could he have slept with Eliana’s sister? What was wrong with him? It was right if it was any other girl but Amber. He was truly an idiot. Eliana would never forgive him if she found out that he had slept with Amber.

Jason got up from the bed and quickly put on his clothes. He must find Amber and ask her to keep what happened between them last night a secret.

...

Eliana, on the other hand, woke up in her husband’s arms and snuggled closer to him to feel his warmth.

Zachary chuckled and kissed her forehead as they both continued to lay in bed, none ready to move away from the other until a phone call broke their moment, and it was Eliana’s phone ringing.

Eliana ignored the call and continued to cuddle with her husband which made Zach happy. He loved that she was acting clingy to him and if it were up to him, he would love to wake up every morning like this. He kissed her forehead again and was about to drift back into sleep when Eliana’s phone rang again.

"Baby, answer it. It could be important." Zach whispered but the only response he got was some mumbling and her tightening her hold on him.

Zach laughed softly and instantly gave up on getting her to answer the call, and now he was even wondering if he would be able to go to work today. He stretched forth his free hand to collect her phone from the nightstand and was surprised to see who was calling his wife so early.

He answered and was about to say something when he heard, "Rise and shine, sweetheart."

Zachary immediately frowns. "Sweetheart? Since when do you call my wife sweetheart?"

Eliana opened her eyes when she heard Zach’s question and suddenly became curious about who was calling her.

"Are you two back together?" Charlotte, who was on the line, asked.

"Were we ever separated?" Zachary answered with a question.

Charlotte rolled her eyes and said, "Anyway, when you guys finally feel like leaving the bed, tell Eliana to meet me at the foundation by noon."

"Why?"

"That’s between a mother and her daughter, learn to mind your business."

Zach scoffed but there was a smile in his eyes. Even though he never showed it, a part of him was worried that his wife and mother may never get along, but now it was clear the two of them were warming up to each other.

"Bye Mom," Zach said and ended the call. He looked at his wife, who was looking at him with her beautiful eyes, and leaned him to kiss her.

"Mom said you should visit her at the foundation by 12."

Eliana nodded and captured his lips with hers, wrapping her hand around his neck.

Their kiss was interrupted by a loud growl, and Zach pulled away with a laugh. "Are you hungry?"

Eliana pouted her lips as she replied "I’m hungry."

Zachary stood up and said, "Let’s get you something to eat."

Eliana followed Zach, wearing only his shirt. He held out his hand, and she took it without hesitation.

They both went to the kitchen, and Eliana sat on the counter as she watched Zach make scrambled eggs with toast and sausage.

"Do you want coffee or Juice?" Zach asked after serving the food.

"Wine."

"It’s too early for a drink, baby," Zach replied.

Eliana pouted and said, "Juice then."

"Fine. Wine, one glass." Zach said as he walked to get the wine and glass

Eliana smiled in victory, and they both ate, drank, made love, and went back to sleeping in each other arms again.

....

Sanders Mansion

"Your father asks that you come to him immediately after you return." Nanny Susan said as soon as she saw Amber entering the house.

Amber had a feeling why, but she still wasn’t sure how her mother was going to make everything end with her marrying Jason.

"All right," Amber replied and went to her father’s study’s.

When she entered, she saw her mother at her father’s side, and seeing the look on Henry’s face made her subconsciously take a step back.

Henry stood up from his chair and walked towards his daughter. He stood before her without saying anything and the moment she called him dad, he brutally slapped her.

"Henry! What do you think you are doing? I have already explained to you that this situation could turn in our favor." Sloane shouted.

Henry ignored his wife and said, "I am not the father to a shameless whore."

"Watch what you say!" Sloane shouted. What is wrong with this man?

"Have you seen the news? Now everyone knows the daughter of Henry Moore was seen at a club and walking into the hotel with a man and as if that wasn’t enough, the paparazzi caught you and that same man leaving the hotel the next morning. Do you think Nolan would want you now? Do you think you will be able to continue your career as an actress? You just have to make it so obvious that you aren’t my blood." Angry was an understatement of what Henry was feeling. He was raging inside and felt like beating Amber to a pulp, but he knew that wouldn’t solve anything. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"The man she slept with is Jason Lennox, isn’t getting married to the Lennox more beneficial than Nolan?" Sloane asked her husband angrily.

"And you think Jason will marry her just because he screwed her for a night?"

"You are right. He won’t marry her, but David won’t let her go just like that. David is a man of principles, and once he sees the damage his son’s actions have caused, he will be the one to offer a marriage proposal himself. So calm down and be happy. You should be celebrating now because, finally, we are getting out of this mess that the Sanders family has put us in, and that is all thanks to Amber. Be proud of her." Sloane said softly.

Henry looked at his wife as if she had lost her mind and left the study. He needed a drink and a strong one at that.

"Mom," Amber called her mother after Henry left.

Sloane hugged her daughter, who was on the verge of crying as she said, "Don’t cry. Even your father will come to realize that your actions have saved this family, and I am proud of you, Amber. You did very well, now go upstairs and freshen up."

Amber nodded and left to her room, leaving only Sloane in the study.

"Everything has to come back to its place. Even you, Eliana, have to come back to your place, at my feet, where your mother begged me to keep you alive."
