Hero Hack: Reversing Heroes and Raising Harem-Chapter 229: In the Gloom, Only One Bleeds
Chapter 229: In the Gloom, Only One Bleeds
Blazren slammed his fist into a mutant’s skull, [Blazing Mane Shift] still glowing around his arms.
The flames roared with every punch.
Beside him, Zain moved like a blur, his blade carving through the enemies.
Each swing of his sword launched a ranged [Demon Waves Slashes].
He was cutting down lines of mutants before they could even reach them.
"We’re clearing fast," Blazren muttered, stepping over a scorched body.
"Too fast."
Zain’s blade sliced through another group, the edge glowing with dark energy.
"[Demon Slash]," he whispered, appearing in front of another target and cutting cleanly through its chest.
Then the ground shook.
Dozens more mutants began pouring from the alleys and rooftops.
They snarled, charged, and leapt toward them in waves.
Blazren’s eyes narrowed. "What the hell? This many?"
Zain stopped moving for a moment, observing the mass coming toward them.
"Looks like they’re rushing us. Probably panicked from how fast we’re clearing them out."
Blazren nodded. "They’re trying to overwhelm us."
He clenched both fists and let out a loud shout.
[Scorching Roar] erupted, blasting heat outward and staggering several incoming beasts.
"Then let’s push through," Blazren said. "Fast and hard."
Zain smirked. "Sounds good to me."
He dashed forward, spinning once and releasing a triple arc of [Demon Waves Slashes], clearing the path.
More mutants came.
He stepped in and finished the nearest one with [Demon Slash], his movement clean and sharp.
Another one tried to grab him from the side, but Zain sidestepped and decapitated it without slowing.
Blazren charged into the left flank, fists ablaze.
He weaved between enemies, hitting vital points and keeping their numbers from spreading too wide.
He moved like wildfire—uncontrolled but focused.
Even with the pressure building, Zain remained calm.
His movements didn’t slow, and his eyes never lost their sharpness. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Blazren noticed.
Between heavy breaths, he glanced at Zain, who was still slashing without breaking a sweat.
He muttered, "Damn... just how strong have you gotten, kid?"
Zain didn’t say a word.
He stepped forward and raised his sword again.
Another group of mutants charged.
He swung once—[Demon Waves Slashes] tore through them like paper.
Beside him, Blazren panted lightly, the heat from his [Blazing Mane Shift] steaming off his arms.
He glanced around. "Still more?"
Before Zain could respond, a sudden gust of cold, sharp air swept through the field.
The remaining mutants stopped moving.
Their eyes twitched. Then they turned and stepped aside.
A tall figure emerged from the smoke.
Drask.
His yellow eyes locked onto Blazren and Zain.
Claws flexed at his sides, and his long black hair shifted in the breeze.
Blazren’s eyes narrowed. "So, you finally came out."
Drask stopped and gave a slow, tooth-baring smirk.
"Blazren... It’s been a while. You’ve caused quite the mess."
Blazren stepped forward. "Your mutants failed. They couldn’t even slow us down."
Drask’s eyes flicked to Zain. "I’m not here for you, old man."
Zain’s crimson eyes sharpened.
He lowered his blade slightly and stepped in front of Blazren. "So, you’re Drask."
Drask’s voice dropped. "And you must be the Heavenly Demon."
Zain smiled coldly. "Took you long enough. I’ve been waiting."
"You’re the one who keeps ruining my plans," Drask growled.
Zain tilted his head.
"You’re the one who keeps putting your face where I don’t want to see it."
Drask’s claws twitched. "This time, I’m not letting you walk away."
Zain’s sword hummed as he tightened his grip. "Good. I didn’t come here to run."
Blazren took a slow step back, watching both of them.
He could feel the tension. These two weren’t just rivals.
There was history—something deep and personal.
"You two have a score to settle," Blazren said.
"Fine. I’ll hold the rest of the mutants."
Drask’s grin widened. "You’re smarter than I thought, fire boy."
Zain pointed his blade at Drask. "Let’s settle this now."
Drask’s body flickered. Shadows danced around him.
Then his form shifted—[Feral Shade Shift].
Dark energy wrapped around his limbs.
His claws grew longer. His body moved faster.
Without waiting, Drask let out a low growl and vanished into the darkness.
[Void Howl Field] spread across the area, swallowing the battlefield in shadow.
Blazren shielded his eyes. "Damn it—he made the whole place dark!"
Zain’s eyes glowed in the dark mist. He didn’t flinch. "Doesn’t matter."
Drask reappeared behind Zain, claws ready. "Die—!"
Zain turned instantly, blocking with the flat of his blade.
Sparks flew.
The two clashed in the darkness, moving too fast for the others to see clearly.
Shadows and energy tore through the ground as they exchanged attacks.
Zain ducked under a claw, then countered with [Demon Slash], his blade glowing as it struck.
Drask staggered but vanished again.
"Too slow," Drask’s voice echoed from the shadows.
Zain smirked. "You talk too much."
He raised his sword and slashed forward.
[Demon Waves Slashes] burst out again, cutting the mist and forcing Drask to appear again, mid-step.
Drask blocked with a burst of shadow energy but slid back from the force.
Zain took a step forward. "Is that all?"
Drask’s expression twisted with rage.
He rushed again with [Rage Lacerate], trying to chain his slashes and overwhelm Zain.
Zain dodged to the side, taking a scratch across the arm but not slowing.
His crimson eyes sharpened. His sword glowed.
He stepped in.
[Heavenly Demon Slash].
The attack blasted outward, cutting through Drask’s shoulder and forcing him to crash into the ground.
Blazren watched from the side, surrounded by burning mutant bodies.
"That sword..." he muttered. "He called it Demon Sword. But that power... it’s something else."
Blazren then clenched his fists.
"And to fight this clearly in that [Void Howl Field]... even I would be slowed down in there."
He looked at the battlefield again. The area was still flooded in shadow.
In the centre of that gloom, Zain stood tall.
Beneath him, Drask struggled to stand.
Blood ran down the side of his face, dripping onto the cracked dirt.
His breath came heavy and slow, and his claws were shaking.
He spat on the ground, wiping his jaw with the back of his hand.
"You think this is over?"
Zain didn’t blink. "No. I said get up."
His voice was calm. Cold. Unshaken.
"I’m not done yet."
