Chapter 277: Izzo Leveled Up...

Smoke rose in thick waves from the cracked ground.

Izzo’s body twitched.

He smiled through burned lips.

"Do you think stopping my last move means you’ve won?"

Volt tightened her grip. "You’re falling apart."

Izzo coughed but didn’t stop smiling.

"You’re too late."

He raised his arms, the air around him glowing red.

"Time to unleash my gift from the Flame God Cult."

His voice grew louder.

"[Combustion Rebirth]!"

A sharp pulse burst from his chest.

"Move!" Volt shouted.

All three heroes jumped away as Izzo’s body exploded in a wave of fire.

The ground cracked open.

Flames spun upward like a tornado.

Then everything went silent.

For a moment, the battlefield looked empty. Just burning rocks and ash.

Then a massive shadow moved inside the smoke.

A new figure stepped forward.

It was Izzo.

But not the same.

He was taller—nearly three meters.

His skin was dark red and pulsing with magma lines.

His hair had burned away, replaced by flickering flame.

His eyes glowed like burning coals. Fire poured from his shoulders.

His mouth opened, but the voice was deeper.

"This is my true rebirth."

Volt cursed under her breath. "So this is the [Combustion Rebirth]..."

Ember stepped forward. "We hit him together."

Sightpiercer took aim again. "Careful. His core moved. It’s no longer in the chest."

Izzo laughed.

"You think your little teamwork matters now?"

He raised his arm.

"[Infernal Wave]!"

A wall of flame rushed toward them.

It wasn’t just heat—it carried force, like a hammer made of fire.

Volt dove to the right.

Ember blocked with crossed arms, sliding backward through the dirt.

Sightpiercer flipped behind cover.

Izzo stepped forward, the ground melting under his feet.

"You heroes always think you’re ready. But you’ve never seen power like this."

He slammed his fist down.

"[Flame God’s Crash]!"

The ground cracked again, a shockwave bursting through the battlefield.

Volt groaned and pulled herself up.

"This is bad."

Sightpiercer rolled beside her, breathing hard.

"He’s changing tactics. He’s smarter in this form."

Ember rejoined them, cloak burned, eyes steady.

"So what now?"

Volt looked at them both.

"We fight."

Izzo raised his massive arm.

His body glowed bright with fire. Lava leaked from his mouth as he smiled.

"Good. I was getting bored."

He stomped forward. The ground under him burst into flame.

Ember moved first.

"[Solar Piston Crash]!"

He rushed at Izzo with a burning uppercut.

Fire exploded from his elbow as his punch connected.

Izzo didn’t even flinch. He caught the punch with one hand.

"Too slow."

His other hand lit up.

"[Flame God Grasp]!"

His palm grabbed Ember’s chest.

Fire surged from his fingers, blasting Ember backward.

Ember crashed into a wall. He groaned but stood again.

Volt appeared behind Izzo.

"[Volt Step]!"

Her boots flashed.

She jumped from lightning point to lightning point, appearing behind him with a kick.

"[Shock Spiral Kick]!"

Her foot spun with electric charge as it slammed into Izzo’s side.

But again, he didn’t move much. He turned with a growl.

"Your tricks won’t save you now."

Sightpiercer stood at a distance, his eyes locked.

"[Sight Burn – Triple Shot]!"

Three glowing arrows were fired from his hand.

Each curved through the air with white heat.

Izzo raised his arm to block.

Two arrows hit him in the shoulder and thigh. The third one hit just above his eye.

"Gah!"

He growled louder now, but the damage healed quickly.

"[Reignite Flesh]!"

His wounds closed in seconds.

Sightpiercer stepped back.

"That healing is unreal."

Volt gritted her teeth.

"We’re barely scratching him."

Izzo charged forward again.

"[Scorch Break]!"

A flame wave burst out from his body. The ground shattered.

Ember had to leap aside.

Volt was thrown into a wall. Sightpiercer lost his balance.

They hit the floor—hard.

Ember groaned. Volt spat blood.

"Get up!" she shouted.

They all forced themselves up again.

Izzo walked slowly toward them.

"This is the best you’ve got?" he said.

"The top heroes? The future of the Association?"

He raised both arms.

"[Flame Calamity – Stage One]!"

The sky above the dome darkened.

Fireballs rained down from above like falling suns.

Volt Stride activated her barrier.

"[Volt Field Dome]!"

A circular wall of lightning formed around them, blocking some of the fire.

But it cracked fast.

Ember covered Sightpiercer. "We need help."

Volt looked up. "If this keeps going..."

The barrier shattered.

The flames roared.

And the three heroes were thrown to the ground again.

Izzo stood in the center of the battlefield, lava dripping from his mouth and hands.

He looked at their fallen forms.

"This is the power of the Flame God."

Volt Stride coughed, struggling to get up.

The flames around her roared louder.

Then a shift in the air.

Suddenly, a ripple of black and orange light flashed beside her.

A figure appeared from that ripple, calm and silent.

It was Ashblade.

He landed with a light step. His dull orange eyes focused ahead.

Whisperlash arrived a second later, walking calmly through flickering illusion threads.

She stayed behind him, watching with a smirk.

Ashblade spoke without turning.

"You’ve all done well."

Volt tried to speak but just nodded.

Izzo stepped forward.

"So, more toys?" he growled. "Another trick?"

Ashblade didn’t answer. His hand rested on his sword’s broken hilt.

Then he vanished with a blink.

"[Phantom Step]."

In an instant, he was right behind Izzo.

"[Rift Cleave]."

A dark slash burst through space.

It passed through Izzo’s body with no resistance.

Izzo gasped.

A delay.

Then the second half of the slash struck.

Blood sprayed.

A crack opened along Izzo’s back.

He roared in pain and turned.

But Ashblade was already standing in front of him again, silent, unreadable.

Izzo held his side, breathing hard.

"You..."

Ashblade raised his hand again, blade glowing faintly.

"I’m not here to talk."

Izzo stumbled back.

For the first time... he looked shaken.

Whisperlash twirled her whip.

"Now this is fun."

Ashblade didn’t move.

He waited.

Izzo’s power flickered—just a little weaker now. The first real wound had landed.
