Hero or Villain, Both-Chapter 72: Verdant Forest (7)
Chapter 72: Verdant Forest (7)
There were many different balls of light that gathered around me, but it didn’t seem like any of them were planning on approaching me.
With how they kept their distance from it, it was like they were kittens that were afraid of the unknown person in the green light dome with them.
But I didn’t mind as I just looked at them with a smile.
I knew that spirits were shy, so it wasn’t easy for me to attract them.
At the same time, trying to force a spirit to come to me was the worst thing that I could do.
All that would do is scare them off after all.
So the only thing that I could do was wait for them to approach me.
Since I was inside this dome of green light, I didn’t actually know how long passed. However, it did feel like quite a bit of time had passed and it didn’t seem like any of the spirits were planning to approach me.
But even then, I didn’t panic as I waited for something to happen.
In the end, the only thing that happened was that the spirits seemed to move away from me.
The moment that I saw this, I couldn’t help slightly knitting my brows.
This was completely different from what I had seen before...
"Could it be that I’m just compatible with spirits?" I couldn’t help wondering when I saw this, but I tossed that thought out.
If I wasn’t compatible, then how could I be a high elf?
It had to be something else...or that was what I said to convince myself that something wasn’t going wrong.
However, the more that I stared at the spirits, the more that it felt like something was wrong.
After all, there wasn’t a single spirit that actually approached me and it seemed like they were trying to get away from me. It really seemed like they were scared of me with the way that they were acting...
"Is there something wrong with me? It isn’t as if I’m even doing anything." This thought passed through my mind as a bitter smile crept onto my face.
While watching the spirits act this way, there was a part of me that started wondering if I should do something to draw the spirits in.
However, I didn’t get a chance to do that as there was something strange that happened.
Well, it wasn’t exactly strange at first as it was just a sign of a spirit appearing.
The thing that was strange was the size of the ball of light that appeared.
This was different from the other balls of light that represented the other spirits. This was a ball of light that was much bigger than all of the other balls of light.
At the same time, there was a different sensation that came from these balls of light.
It was that they seemed to be releasing far more energy than the smaller balls of light.
I had to narrow my eyes to look at them since they were quite bright compared to the other spirits that appeared, but I slowly started to understand what these three larger balls of light were...
"Medium Grade Spirits..." I couldn’t help muttering under my breath as I looked at them.
Unlike the Primary Grade Spirits that had appeared before, these Medium Grade Spirits were completely different in terms of not just size, but also power.
After all, there was a reason why they were medium grade instead of primary grade.
"This one is fire." I said looking at the red ball of light in front of me, then I turned to look at the other two balls of light that were behind me, "This one is wind and the other one is...light?"
My voice filled with surprise after hearing this since it was a big deal that this third spirit was actually a spirit of light.
After all, it was normal to have spirits of the basic elements like fire and wind, but it was a completely different matter to have a spirit of a higher grade element like light.
A spirit of light was a rare spirit to find since they normally didn’t follow those that they didn’t acknowledge. And to gain the acknowledgement of a spirit of light was hard since they had specific requirements.
So for this spirit of light to appear now...
"Wait, there’s something else."
I couldn’t help narrowing my eyes more to look at where the spirit of light was.
The spirit of light itself was quite bright since it was a spirit of light, but it was so bright that I actually missed the spirit that was behind it.
This spirit was also a Medium Grade Spirit, but it was different from the rest of the Medium Grade Spirit. That was because unlike the others that gave off a strong glow, especially the spirit of light, this spirit seemed to take in light.
It was as if it swallowed light and refused to let it go.
"A spirit of darkness?"
Light and dark...it was only natural that the spirit of darkness be a special higher grade spirit just like the spirit of light. The spirit of darkness was also a spirit that had high requirements of their contractor.
However, these two spirits usually would not appear in front of the same person...
"The demon king and the hero, huh?" I said to myself once more as I looked at the two of them.
Though the spirit of light and the spirit of darkness were opposing spirits, it didn’t seem like they were actually going against each other now. It seemed that both of them were interested in making a contract with me.
"I guess I’ll be the first person to do such a thing, but this definitely wouldn’t be something that I could tell others." I said with a faint smile.
Though in the first place, it would already be hard for the high elves outside to believe that I had made a contract with Medium Grade Spirits in the first place.
