High School of Demon Hunting-Chapter 1686 - 430 Random Door
"Fire!"
"Use the blood symbol bullet!"
"Quick, fire now!"
The black cat’s screams echoed inside the massive maw, making Zheng Qing’s eardrums buzz.
To avoid those crisscrossed fangs, it had shrunk its body to the size of a foal, forcing Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu to cling tightly together to avoid falling off the cat’s back.
On ordinary days, this somewhat ambiguous sitting position might have led to something happening in a slightly romantic atmosphere. At the very least, Zheng Qing’s cheeks would turn as red as a baboon’s butt, and his head would steam like a boiling kettle.
But at present, the massive spiral maw, having gorged on enough food, was now contentedly contracting inward. The interlocking fangs spun like the blades of a crusher, moving, rotating, and exuding a bone-chilling aura above everyone’s heads.
The warlock’s face was paling under the sting of that coldness. Never mind releasing steam, just maintaining a thinking process without being completely paralyzed was already a testament to his nerve’s resilience.
While the black cat screamed, it leveraged the momentum of the fall, forcefully kicked against a nearby fang with its hind legs — compared to a cat and the three humans, this Earth Dragon’s fang was as thick as the pillars in the First Hall — forcibly halting the continued descent, redirecting them to crash towards the other side of the maw.
The grating sound jolted the young wizard awake. Like the black cat, Zheng Qing had absolutely no desire to test the power of his magic within the Earth Dragon’s stomach acid, and certainly didn’t want to smash head-on into the massive, rock-like quivering meat wall nearby.
The moment was urgent.
The black cat’s scream had yet to fade when Zheng Qing’s charm gun thundered loudly, a streak of azure light seeming slow but actually swift, collided against the Earth Dragon’s oral cavity wall; immediately, the black cat with the three humans crashed onto it.
A scream from Zhu Si echoed by his ears.
Madly swirling magical currents surged ahead.
Grinding his teeth, Zheng Qing shut his eyes tightly, doing his utmost to suppress his urge to shout. Similar to him, Jiang Yu stayed silent but her arms tightly squeezed the warlock’s waist and abdomen, making him feel as if his ribs were about to snap.
Fierce wind whipped past, howling by Zheng Qing’s ears, the air transitioning from murky to fresh, and with a slight tremor, the black cat came to a halt.
Zheng Qing finally found the courage to open his eyes again.
They landed on an outcropping rock before a mountain. Not far from the group, the giant Earth Dragon had just come to its senses, silently roaring with its great maw opened. On one side of its maw, at a place that could be its cheek or neck, was a massive cavity through which one could clearly see the Earth Dragon’s writhing flesh and coiling fangs.
Following the cavity’s position towards the distance, a little further away, an Earth Dragon that had been snapped into two was looking up its head and tail in bewilderment, seemingly confused about what had just happened.
"We must leave here immediately!"
The black cat glanced at the distant giant beast, bisected, then at the one before them and on the verge of insanity, its expression and tone equally grave:
"Though theoretically, Earth Dragons are gentle creatures with dull pain senses... but aside from having great destructiveness, your symbol bullet also causes harm deeply within a creature’s soul. Not something easily withstood by thick skin." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Zheng Qing swallowed hard, tugging at the long fur around the black cat’s neck.
"Then what are you waiting for, run away quickly!" He urged like riding a horse, squeezing his legs with no intention of contradicting the black cat.
The black cat rolled its eyes, its tail weaving past the two witches and easily smacking the warlock’s face from behind, answering with a bad temper: "Open your eyes and look... where are we supposed to run to!"
Being struck aside by the black cat’s tail tip, Zheng Qing’s head turned to survey the surroundings.
As far as the eye could see, besides the two unfortunate creatures, those giant mountain-like beasts, ten or more of them had unwound leisurely without notice, writhing, squirming, and rolling.
These giant beasts churned up waves of dirt one heavier than the last, the air suffused with a thick stench from the earth’s depths. Perhaps having sensed the screams of the Earth Dragon with a cavity on its face, several giant beasts raised their bodies, gazing over with interest.
Zheng Qing quietly swallowed hard.
In all directions, no safe path exists; to sneak across would be at the risk of being buried alive by those waves of dirt.
Right as the black cat and Zheng Qing fretted in bewilderment, Jiang Yu’s timid voice broke the silence: "I have a random door, how about we take a chance here."
Zheng Qing and the black cat turned abruptly.
The witch held a light purple scroll, her expression somewhat uncertain.
So-called ’random door’ was a term used by traditional wizard schools in the East. To Western wizards, it carries another vastly recognized name — random teleportation scroll.
Tearing open this scroll allows the user to move a certain number of living entities from one place to another without fixed locations, the distance of relocation determined by the scroll’s quality.
Low-tier scrolls can only relocate a wizard less than ten miles, while high-tier scrolls can move an entire hunting team hundreds of miles away. Allegedly, there’s another strategic type of scroll capable of teleporting dozens, even hundreds of wizards to a designated point.
The scroll in Jiang Yu’s hand shimmered entirely in light purple, adorned with intricate runes seemingly alive like bookworms, its edges inlaid with gold trim making it obviously high-quality from a glance.
Zheng Qing hesitated, debating on whether to waste such a precious thing.
The black cat already impatiently clamored: "Chance it! Of course, we should chance it! As long as we move a hundred miles away, out of these Earth Dragons’ encirclement, even if the landing spot’s a quagmire, I can still fish you guys out... this scroll can relocate a hundred miles, right?!"
Its last sentence was accompanied by a glance at the witch, clearly aware of the high-tier scroll’s limitations.
The witch pursed her lips, ripping the scroll in her hand with a ripping sound.
"I really don’t know." She explained quietly: "This was the Elderly Ancestor’s gift during a past New Year celebration... should be able to transfer quite a distance."
As she spoke, before the black cat ’buzzed’ a small door with a faint gold border emerged, a Door God holding a long halberd snoozing on it.
Awakened by magical power, the Door God rubbed its eyes, eyeing the black cat and the young male and female wizards on its back.
"Where to?" It asked gruffly.
"Whoa!" The black cat’s tail nearly touched the Door God’s nose in surprise: "Pretty upscale... I’d like to go to the First University, is that possible?"
The Door God glanced at the black cat and ignored it.
"Where to?" The Door God repeated its question, fixing its gaze on the witch.
Undoubtedly, the scroll was bound to Jiang Yu. Even if others seized it, it couldn’t be used. The black cat dejectedly twitched its ears, stepping back a pace.
