High School of Demon Hunting-Chapter 1883 - 104: The School’s New Lecturer
"Let’s hope so."
The Fat Wizard pulled out another piece of dried meat and stuffed it into his mouth, chewing slowly. After a moment’s hesitation, he added softly, "Also, I heard some news... It is said that on the day the trials begin, the school suddenly raided and sealed an illegal laboratory located in the depths of Silent Forest, where biological modification experiments were taking place."
"You mean..."
"I know nothing!" Xin Fat Man immediately denied, "I just heard that when the Assistant Team raided, some unidentified wizards escaped from that laboratory... Their identities still haven’t been confirmed."
"On Buji Island?"
"On Buji Island."
This is a very frightening answer because it means those wizards conducting illegal experiments are very likely hiding in First University—even possibly being professors, researchers, or even students of the school.
Suddenly, an unsettling silence filled the corner.
After a while.
Zheng Qing tugged at the corner of his mouth, forcing a smile, "Maybe we’re overthinking... Isn’t this the start of the school year? Those wizards might have already taken the opportunity to flee Buji Island, or jumped into the sea, or got eaten by the beasts of the Silent Forest."
"No, there won’t be such luck."
Xin Fat Man stuffed the piece of dried meat into his mouth and chewed viciously, mumbling, "Just like Murphy said... If something can go wrong, no matter how small the possibility, it will happen."
"Doctor, what do you think?" Zheng Qing turned to the Diviner of the Absolution.
Xiao Xiao held a crystal ball, carefully observing the mist swirling within. After a long while, he murmured, "Undercurrents are surging, secret wheels are turning... The fog of destiny obscures not just our vision."
Zheng Qing couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
Indeed, you can’t expect a diviner to say anything useful other than nonsense and bad omens.
At this moment, he caught a glimpse from the corner of his eye of a certain Monitor who had just finished lecturing the Little Witch in the front row. The Monitor had already stood up and started heading out of the classroom.
The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team, suddenly abandoning his previous dawdling, jumped up urging his companions to hurry, "...Almost forgot, Doctor reserved a spot in the library for us... let’s not be late, or that damn octopus will throw our books outside!"
...
...
When Zheng Qing hurriedly led a few companions out of the classroom, he was surprised to find Jiang Yu hadn’t gone far, but rather stood with Li Meng at the end of the corridor, peeking through a window into a classroom.
Xin Fat Man, patting his chest, summoned an egg-sized water ball, swallowed it in one gulp, then wiped his mouth, taking a long breath, "Fortunately, fortunately... I almost choked to death!"
"Fortunately, what?" Zhang Ji Xin belatedly asked.
As he spoke, the few warlocks had already reached the end of the corridor.
The Fat Wizard shot a glance at a certain straight-faced warlock, snorted, "Fortunately, Jiang Da Headmaster walked a bit slower, or I would have choked to death at the classroom door with that piece of dried meat, becoming the biggest disgrace in the history of the Blue Giant."
Holding the law book and passing by Jiang Yu, Zheng Qing unexpectedly heard Xin Fat Man’s words and was caught off guard, instantly feeling countless gazes from all directions, his entire face turning beet red as if he were a distant cousin of Zhang Ji Xin.
Noticing the male wizards talking, Jiang Yu turned her head, nodded slightly, and greeted Zheng Qing.
The young cost student finally decided not to deceive himself anymore.
"What are you looking at?" He broke away from the group, walked next to Jiang Yu amidst his companions’ surprised glances, and asked directly while peering into the classroom along with the witch. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Standing just outside the back door of the classroom, Jiang Yu peered inside through the window. The students had already left, only two figures remained behind the teacher’s desk in the front row: a witch and a wizard, both looking somewhat familiar, but only vaguely so.
The witch was pretty and tall, seeming to be a teacher.
However, she wasn’t wearing the black robes often seen on First University teachers, but a light blue French long pleated dress with a hem that reached past her knees and covered by a layer of translucent netting, which not only retained an air of solemnity despite its liveliness but also added an extra layer of hazy mystery.
The wizard, meanwhile, had slicked-back hair, holding a large bouquet of roses, amidst which several sprites dressed in gauzy skirts were diligently playing cheerful tunes on small instruments.
Zheng Qing knew that wizard; it was said he belonged to some distant branch of the Black family, teaching "Blood Race Emblem Studies" at First University. Though just a lecturer and merely a registered wizard, his handsome looks, and ’noble’ bloodline made him quite popular with some witches at the school, earning him a reputation as quite the playboy.
Of course, among the warlocks, this lecturer’s reputation was quite poor.
"So, has Professor Black found a new target?" the young cost student murmured teasingly, emphasizing the word ’professor’.
Jiang Yu rolled her eyes at him, not answering the warlock’s question, and instead curiously asked, "Why is your face so red? Got a fever? Or are you experiencing magic backlash again?"
Beside him came Xin Fat Man’s snickering.
Immediately, Zheng Qing felt the heat that was subsiding on his face suddenly surging back as he touched his face, finding it scalding hot.
"Looks just like a baboon’s behind."
Li Meng observed in a seemingly earnest manner, then quickly changed the subject before her cousin could intervene, answering Zheng Qing’s earlier question, "...We’re just here to cheer Sisi on, give her some support, not looking at anything. Who did you say Professor Black is? The wizard asking Sisi out? He seems so young, could he already be a professor?"
The little witch’s chattering made Zheng Qing’s head spin.
"Do you know the witch in that classroom?"
Xin Fat Man squeezed past Zheng Qing, glancing inside the classroom, "Is she also a teacher at the school? Seems like I haven’t seen her before. What does she teach? ...Hmm, strange, why does she seem a bit familiar too?"
The Fat Guy echoed Zheng Qing’s confusion.
From the first glance at that witch, Zheng Qing found her slightly familiar—but the young cost student was quite sure he had never seen her before and didn’t know this unfamiliar teacher.
"Ha, men," Li Meng scoffed, folding her arms, and looking at the two warlocks with disdain.
Just then, several screams came from the classroom—the loudest being the previously flattering Lecturer Black, along with the sprites nestled in the rose bouquet he held.
The reason for their cries was quite clear.
Because right next to them, the tall witch who had been the target of Lecturer Black’s attention suddenly deflated like a balloon pricked with a needle and turned into a small imp.
