High School of Demon Hunting-Chapter 2329 - 550: Pursuit
Perhaps sensing the sudden gaze of the young wizard.
The wizard in the black cloak paused slightly with the feather pen in his hand, and the wide hood slowly turned towards Zheng Qing’s position, pausing for a few seconds.
The consequence of the abundant moonlight gathering on the battlefield was that the contrast between light and shadow in the whole garden was exceptionally strong. The area where the spectators were located was extremely dim, so even though the hood was facing Zheng Qing, he could only see a vague blur of darkness, unable to discern the face under the hood.
"Sir!"
Since he had already been noticed, Zheng Qing couldn’t afford to act secretly anymore. He fixed his eyes on the figure while squeezing towards his position, shouting loudly, "Please wait, Korma the Wise wants to ask you a few questions!"
Korma, standing behind the young man, tilted her head with a puzzled expression but wisely said nothing. Instead, she followed the gaze of the young cost student.
Immediately, she frowned gently. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Because with her Grand-Wizard sight, she couldn’t see through the identity of the wizard beneath the cloak either.
At that moment, all the spectators’ attention was focused on the battle in the field. Even if they heard Zheng Qing’s shout, they wouldn’t spare too much thought and certainly wouldn’t voluntarily make way, causing Zheng Qing to stumble as he chased, watching helplessly as the cloaked wizard put away his notepad, lifted his hand to slightly tug his hood, seemingly saluting the owner of Sakura Pub, and then drifted away, like a shadow, disappearing into the darkness outside the pub’s walls in no time.
"Don’t chase him, that wizard is very dangerous."
Having squeezed through the crowd, about to continue his pursuit, Zheng Qing heard Korma’s admonition. He turned back to see that the North District Grand-Wizard was still focused on watching the match between her patrol team and Varis, as if she hadn’t just spoken.
Whoosh!
A breeze blew, and Dylan’s figure slowly appeared in the air.
Next was Blue Bird, along with the other two members of the hunting team.
"We’ll go after him, you two stay here."
Without hesitation, Zheng Qing arranged for Xiao Xiao and Xin to stay behind, patting the charm gun at his waist, as if trying to reassure everyone: "I’ve already switched to Blood Symbol Bullets, self-protection won’t be a problem."
As he spoke, Dylan and Blue Bird had already vanished into the night one after the other.
"Can you keep up with their speed?"
Xin Fat Man’s tone carried a hint of doubt: "Your physical prowess isn’t great, is it... Even with four Armour Horses on each leg, I feel it’s still shaky."
His answer was Zheng Qing fishing a small ampoule bottle out of the grey cloth bag.
A Transformation Potion.
After more than a year of repeated practice and use, Zheng Qing’s mastery of Transformation is already quite skilled. Although he began using the Transformation Potion as an aid and still has a bit of ’drug dependency,’ he doesn’t really need to drink the potion anymore.
The moment he grasped the potion bottle, the wide robe suddenly became empty and started to fall. Out from under the robe’s corner came a sleek black cat, standing on two legs as it ran, hurriedly tying the grey cloth bag around its neck, while lowering its voice to instruct: "Keep an eye on my clothes!"
As it spoke, it darted off like a wisp of smoke, disappearing from its companions’ line of sight. Only then did the empty wizard robe softly land on the grass.
The two companions were dumbfounded.
For a moment.
Xiao Xiao bent down to pick up the robe.
"I’ve never seen a cat like that!"
The diviner of the Atonement Hunting Team muttered, cautiously glancing back at the nearby patrons behind him, with a slight disapproval in his tone: "Not only does it speak, it runs on two legs... Doesn’t four legs run faster?"
"Why don’t you check his pockets for any extra gold beans?" Xin Fat Man ignored the wizard’s complaint, his focus always seeming quirky compared to others.
Xiao Xiao paused in his gesture of gathering the robe.
Then he discreetly checked the various pockets.
"Nope."
He pouted, "When that guy transformed into a cat, his hand speed probably matched a cat’s scratch speed... I didn’t even see when he stuffed the charm gun and law book into the grey cloth bag."
"Such a stingy little guy!"
The Fat Wizard sighed with disappointment, his eyes shifting, suddenly revealing a mischievous grin: "I mean, since his robe fell on the ground... Since it got dirty in Sakura Pub... shouldn’t the owner be responsible for cleaning it up!"
Xiao Xiao had no time to respond before the robe suddenly vanished from his arms.
"Good idea." The North District Grand-Wizard’s amused voice rang in their ears: "Remember to have the black cat collect his robe from the second floor when he returns!"
The two young wizards exchanged glances and quietly tiptoed back into the crowd.
Achoo!
Already galloping on all fours, the black cat suddenly sneezed while chasing, instinctively shaking its short fur, mentally complaining about the winter chill.
Then it quickly refocused, concentrating on sniffing the slight scent lingering in the air.
After all, not trained as a professional cat hunter, Zheng Qing’s grasp of feline hunting techniques was still lacking. Adding to the fact that he hadn’t captured the scent of the black-cloaked wizard earlier, it was difficult for him to distinguish which scent among the chaotic ones around him belonged to the target.
But this didn’t trouble him.
Even though he didn’t know the scent of the black-cloaked wizard, he was familiar with Dylan’s scent. As the best hunter of the Atonement Hunting Team, Dylan, with dual werewolf and vampire bloodlines, is extremely talented in tracking, and he was the first to give chase. Zheng Qing was confident in his tracker, feeling that he only needed to follow Dylan’s scent.
This scent traversed walls, almost never taking a direct path.
Luckily, the black cat was agile enough, its climbing and jumping skills innate, although in the chase, it overturned a few tiles and startled some birds resting on the ridges of the roofs, it ultimately caught up with its two companions at the border between the North District and Silent River.
Dylan and Blue Bird paced anxiously back and forth, immediately noticing the black cat darting towards them.
"Is it Mr. Zha?"
Mister Wolfman rudely tested.
The black cat rolled its eyes, opting not to fuss over trivialities, twitching its ears, and lowering its voice: "Where’s that guy? Nearby?"
"Lost him in the chase." Blue Bird replied tersely.
Dylan didn’t hide anything either, anxiously scanning the surroundings: "He’s fast and keeps casting anti-tracking spells, crossing Silent River here into Silent Forest... The river cleansed his scent... Now we can’t determine if he landed upstream, downstream, or somewhere else."
As he spoke, he sniffed and added: "We need to speed up, the cold wind, river water, and the chaotic magic environment of Silent Forest will completely erase his trail very soon."
