[ Zack, was that the same flames that man used to know? ] Lance asked in a low tone as he knew that Zack was in shock.

'Yes…'

[ Then how was Jonathan able to use something only you were taught? ]

'I don't know…'

Lance sighed as he allowed Zack to process what he had heard. For the time being, the Phoenix took over one of Zack's eyes, turning it amber in the process.

He then looked at Jonathan with a curious look as he wondered how he had been able to the flames of Samsara.

At the same time, Zack remembered that he had read the same words of had echoed inside his head when he had been present in the arena in the underworld's prison.

It had happened at the same time when a pillar of light had descended on him and he had seen the snake statue there. free𝒘ℯ𝗯𝙣𝗼ν𝑒𝗹.𝒄o𝒎

'What was the name of the first ruler of the underworld?' Zack thought as he suddenly took off silently.

He landed in front of the library of the capital a few seconds later. He immediately tore through the doors and climbed to the second floor.

Zack was about to go to the third floor when he felt chills run against his back. The atmosphere inside the library was unusually chilly as well.

Zack raised his pinkie finger and ignited a small number of blue flames to see whether what he was thinking was correct or not.

His flames were much dimmer than normal but continue to burn.

'Lance…'

[ Necromancy. ]

Both of them knew the necromancy of a very high leveled mage, namely an Archmage. Zack knew that the kingdom had two Archmages but had never seen the first one.

From all the information he had gathered in his first life, he knew that the first Archmage was a fire user thus marking him out as a necromancy user.

[ Hayden, can you give me the information about Yami Nobunga without any changes? ] Zack asked in a grim tone as he no longer cared about the undead army outside.

Hayden didn't know why Zack was asking about such information. He decided to ask later on and sent the entire information the way it had appeared when Zack had used inspect on the warden.

[ Thanks. ]

Zack's eyes stopped on the section of the title as he inhaled sharply.

---

Yami Nobunga

Dark Archmage

Titles: Warden of the Blackwater prison, The Executioner of Red Dawn, the general of the cult of darkness

---

Even though he had been looking for the information on Yami, his eyes were stuck on the word Red Dawn.

That was the name of his and Emma's guild. Zack had no idea how he had skipped over the detail the first time he had fought against the warden.

[ You were under some pressure back then. ] Lance tried to console him while trying to remember whether the name had any connection with Zack's first life.

The latter too focused on the same thing yet couldn't remember anything of significance. The name had entered his mind at random back in the capital yet he had no idea that it would show up in such a manner.

'Does that mean that Yami was connected to me in some manner and that was why I and Emma could enter his office?'

While wondering that, Zack silently stepped forward. He had extinguished his flames and was using his superior eyes to see everything in the library.

'Lance, cover our back.'

[ No need to remind me. ]

The duo soon reached the desk on the second floor where Zack had purchased the 'Grimoire Of the Dark Knight' from the old man who was in charge of the second floor.

Currently, the desk was empty and the old man was nowhere to be seen.

'Maybe he had evacuated with the rest of them or else…' Zack slowly turned the corner to feel an aura of negativity hit him in the chest.

If Lance wasn't connected with him, Zack was sure that he would have been knocked by the aura of negativity. It confirmed that the person using the necromancy arts was an Archmage.

[ Zack, relax your eyes and combine them with me. Both of us will see it together. ] Lance slowly said as Zack nodded and closed his eyes.

Even though it was a risky move, both of them needed to see what was happening. Zack's eyes could combat any type of physical thing as well as spells or skills.

However, mental things were different. Necromancy turned the atmosphere completely negative as it sucked the life out of the surroundings to reanimate the dead.

Necromancy also clouded the minds of those around it, except other dark mages. Any other person would soon dive down their worst memories and would be trapped in a loop.

It was almost impossible to break free from the loop and the person would be broken from the inside. Many weak-willed ones also died during the same thing.

After a few seconds, Zack opened his eyes again and looked around. The amber had mixed with his purple eyes, giving him a new brightly glowing color.

Both Zack and Lance could now see using his eyes as they advanced to see a magic circle drawn in the corner of the second floor.

Standing in between the magic circle was the same man who had sold the 'Grimoire of the dark knight' to Zack in the past.

'He was an Archmage?!…' Zack's jaw dropped slightly when he saw the old man standing in the middle of the magic circle and continuously chanting.

Four portals were open all around him as undead were summoned inside them. On the other side was the capital as the man kept on sending all of the undead to the other side.

'Inspect.'

[ Inspect. ]

Both Zack and Lance used the same thing as a window slowly opened in front of them.

- Xelor Nobunga became the first Archmage of the Eizenburgh kingdom after the events of the Night's Wrath and the disappearance of the teen heroes.

- After the war, he lived in peace for a few years before he found a Grimoire hidden deep inside the treasury of the castle. Due to him being extremely old, he decided to see what the Grimoire would grant him. That was the biggest mistake of his life.

- Xelor then became the first person to use the Grimoire of the dark knight and became a cursed light Archmage. He was the only person who could use both light and dark magic.

- Necromancy, portal magic, immortality, switching bodies while using half the soul, and creating more Grimoires were his major moves.

'Lance, do you remember that name?'

[ I think I do… ]

'Me too…'

Both Zack and Lance were shaken after they read the details of the old man.

He was the true ruler of the underworld meaning that he was the person who had been controlling Yami's body when Lance had defeated him.

This also meant that Yami was related to Xelor in some way.

'Does he remember anything from the past?'

[ Chances are very low since many years have passed since then. Also, body shifting means that he takes the memories from all the bodies he has inherited. ]

'We have to fight him now but how can we defeat an immortal?…'

[ The same way we defeated many of them ages ago. ]

Zack took a deep breath as he slowly started walking forward with confidence. He knew that sneak attacking an Archmage would only work against his favor.

His best chance was to talk to him and stall enough time to figure out a plan and give his friends on the other side of the portals some rest.

"Xelor, do you remember me?" Zack suddenly called out as he stood a few meters away from the Archmage.

Xelor paid him no notice yet stopped chanting. Slowly, the old man turned in Zack's direction as the latter got to see that his eyes were completely black.

"So it's you, young heir…" Xelor spoke in an ancient tone as he stopped summoning more undead. "What are you here for?"

Zack's expression tightened as he realized that Xelor had a clue as to who he was. Zack wanted to keep his real identity hidden for as long as possible but it was proving to be difficult with every person he met knowing about his true self.

"Why are you helping golden dusk when you used to be our elder?" Zack slowly asked as he unlocked another bit of his memories.

The Red Dawn guild used to exist in the past as well and Xelor was an elder in the guild. He was the person all of the guild members could ask for advice which didn't happen very often considering how very few people were there in the guild.

As for his title, Xelor used to wield a sharp scythe that used his light element to deal one-hit knockouts. He was feared all around the guild and no one dared to cross his path.

"Ah…" Xelor looked as though he was remembering something from long ago. "That was in the past Zack. Since then, I have been controlled by many forces outside of our control."

"And now, you belong to the gods and serve as a vessel…"

At last, Zack realized why Xelor was standing in front of him with completely black eyes. The curse from long ago had affected him much worse than it had affected any other guild member…
