His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker.-Chapter 647 Who?
Ana swallowed. Her voice came out as a whisper. "Alexa. Alexa Wyatt."
Jay’s face didn’t change. But something behind his eyes went cold, hard as stone. He had suspected her. He wasn’t surprised.
He leaned back, reaching for his phone. "Luis," he said into it. "Come in."
The door opened. His assistant stepped inside.
Jay looked at Ana. "You have debts. Your father’s gambling. How much?"
Ana stared at him, confused. Her hands were trembling in her lap, fingers twisting together. "I—"
"How much?"
She told him. The number was high, higher than she could pay in years, higher than most people would see in a lifetime. But for Jay, it was nothing. A drop in the ocean that was his family’s wealth. He didn’t even blink.
He nodded slowly. "It’s paid. Today. You don’t owe them anything."
Ana’s mouth fell open. Her eyes went wide, glassy with disbelief. "I don’t—I can’t—why would you—"
"Because someone used your desperation to hurt my family. Because you were drowning, and instead of helping, they pushed you under." Jay’s voice was cold now, hard as steel, the kind of voice that made grown men shrink. "But if you ever, ever do anything like this again, I won’t just fire you. I will make sure you never work in this city again. I will make sure everyone knows what you did. Do you understand?"
Ana nodded frantically, tears streaming down her face. "Yes. Yes. I understand. Thank you. Thank you—"
"You’re going to tell my assistant everything. Every conversation you had with Alexa. Every payment. Every word she said." Jay stood, straightening his jacket, smoothing the fabric like he was preparing for something more important than this. "And then you’re going to go home. You’re going to rest. You’re going to figure out what to do with your life now."
He walked to the door, then paused. He didn’t turn around.
"Ana."
She was crying again, but it was different now. Relief, maybe. Or exhaustion. Or the strange, hollow feeling that came after confessing something terrible.
"People like Alexa," Jay said quietly, "they use people like you. They see someone drowning and they throw a rope, but the rope is tied to their hand, and they pull you where they want you to go. You’re not the first person she’s used. But you will be the last."
He opened the door.
"You’re free now. Don’t let anyone put chains on you again."
He walked out without looking back. Luis was already moving toward Ana. Jay’s footsteps echoed down the hallway.
He had to tell Leo about this.
The walk to Leo’s office felt longer than usual. Jay’s mind was racing, replaying everything Ana had said, everything she had confessed. Months of rumors. Months of whispers. Months of people in the company believing that his brother’s marriage was a lie, that Bella was just a placeholder, that Leo didn’t love his wife.
And all of it came from Alexa. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
He stopped at Leo’s office door, took a breath, straightened his tie, then pushed the door open and walked inside.
His brother was talking with one of his assistants about something—shipments, security, the endless details that came with running an empire. Leo’s voice was low and deep, the kind of voice that made people listen. He was leaning back in his chair, his sleeves rolled up, his tie loosened.
Jay stood in the doorway, waiting. He didn’t interrupt. He knew better.
Leo glanced up, saw him, and gestured for the assistant to leave. The man slipped out quickly, closing the door behind him, leaving the two brothers alone.
Jay didn’t wait. He crossed the room in three long strides, his hands clenched at his sides, his jaw tight.
"Bro! Alexa was paying someone in the company to spread rumors about you and sister-in-law. About your relationship—that it’s not good, that you don’t love her, that she’s just a placeholder until you find someone better."
The words tumbled out, fast and angry, spilling over each other like water breaking through a dam. Jay’s face was flushed, his eyes bright with fury.
"She’s been doing this for months. Months, Bro. While pretending to be a changed woman, while playing happy family with Archer and that baby. She never stopped. She never—"
He stopped, finally noticing Leo’s expression.
Leo wasn’t angry. He wasn’t surprised. He wasn’t even paying full attention. He was leaning back in his chair, watching Jay pace, his expression calm, almost amused. His fingers were steepled in front of him, his gray eyes following Jay’s movement like he was watching a tennis match.
"Why are you smiling?"
Leo’s lips curved slightly. "You called her sister-in-law."
Jay blinked. "What?"
"Bella. You called her sister-in-law. Not Bella. Not Bella Bell. Sister-in-law." Leo’s voice was smooth, satisfied, like he had just won something. "I liked that."
Jay stared at him. "That’s what you’re focusing on? Alexa is trying to destroy your marriage and you’re—"
"I dealt with it."
Jay stopped. The anger drained from his face, replaced by confusion. His hands unclenched. His shoulders dropped. "What?"
"I already dealt with Alexa." Leo picked up a pen, turning it between his fingers, watching the light catch the silver edge. "Two weeks ago."
Jay crossed his arms, his brow furrowed. "Two weeks ago? What do you mean you dealt with her? How?"
Leo set the pen down. "Sit."
"I don’t want to sit."
"Sit, Jay."
Jay sat.
Leo leaned back, his eyes looked distant. The room was quiet, the only sound the soft hum of the air conditioning and the distant noise of the city outside.
"Freya worked as a spy for me. Before she found her family. Before she retired. She was good. Very good." Leo’s voice was calm, like he was telling a story that didn’t matter. "She watched Alexa when Alexa didn’t know she was being watched."
Jay nodded slowly. He remembered Freya. Quiet. Shy. The kind of woman you didn’t notice until she was gone. The kind of woman who could blend into any room, any crowd, any situation, and leave no trace.
"She gave me information. Photographs. Alexa meeting with a man. An older man. Fat. Unremarkable." Leo’s voice dropped, colder now, like winter creeping in through a cracked window. "That man had undergone surgery to look like someone else."
Jay’s brow furrowed deeper. His mind was racing, trying to piece together what Leo was saying. "Who?"
