His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 213: President Sinclair, This Is My Friend Shane Lawson
At eleven o’clock at night in the bar, surrounded by a sea of color and lights, Ethan Sinclair was downing drink after drink, exuding a cold aura that kept others at bay.
Julian Garrison was originally on set filming. Upon receiving a call from Ethan Sinclair and noticing something off in his voice, he quickly asked the director for a leave and rushed over.
Seeing Ethan Sinclair drinking as if his life depended on it, he sat down beside him, "What’s going on? Who upset our Fifth Master this time?"
Ethan Sinclair was always calm and collected, showing no emotion in front of others. To see him so emotionally volatile, there seemed to be only two possible people who could cause it.
Kate Lynch rarely angered Ethan Sinclair, so it was likely just one person.
"What did your mute little wife do this time?"
At the mention of Kiana Sutton, Ethan Sinclair’s expression darkened further, and he shot a cold glare at Julian Garrison.
Why bring that up?
"Hey, glaring at me is useless. I’m not the one who made you angry."
Julian Garrison picked up his own drink. Ethan Sinclair was as inscrutable as a needle in the sea, and unless he spoke up himself, it was hard to guess what was on his mind.
Since Ethan Sinclair remained silent, Julian Garrison couldn’t be bothered to engage, and both fell into a silent mode of drinking.
However, with one being coldly dominant and the other irresistibly handsome, they instantly attracted the attention of many women in the bar.
Two bold women, holding their drinks, walked over to their table. One sat beside Julian Garrison, and the other beside Ethan Sinclair.
"Hey guys, drinking alone is no fun. How about we play together?"
Julian Garrison raised an eyebrow and put an arm around the woman next to him, "Sure, how do you want to play?"
The woman next to Ethan Sinclair, seeing that he was ignoring her, reached a manicured hand towards his thigh. But before she could touch him, her hand was grabbed forcefully.
Before realizing what was happening, she was flung aside.
"Ah..."
The woman let out a scream, landing awkwardly on the ground.
The woman beside Julian Garrison quickly helped her up and, with an angry glare at Ethan Sinclair, said, "If you don’t want to play, fine, but why be like this?"
"Who allowed you to touch me? Scram!"
Julian Garrison immediately stood up and smiled at the two women, "Sorry, my friend is in a bad mood today. Tell you what, to apologize, your tab tonight’s on me."
Only then did the two women leave, though they didn’t end up with the handsome guys, at least they could still rack up a hefty bill.
Seeing Ethan Sinclair’s unapproachable demeanor, Julian Garrison frowned slightly, "Fifth Master Sinclair, what’s going on today? You asked me to drink with you, yet you’re saying nothing. How can I help you if I don’t know what’s happening?"
"Kiana Sutton wants a divorce!"
"What?"
Julian Garrison thought he had misheard, "What did you say?"
"Kiana Sutton wants a divorce; she actually dared to bring up divorce!"
Julian Garrison was baffled, "But doesn’t Kiana Sutton love you? Why would she want a divorce?"
Before Ethan Sinclair could respond, Julian Garrison added, "Wait a minute, don’t you not love Kiana Sutton? If she’s the one asking for a divorce, then the old lady won’t trouble you anymore, and you’ll be free, right?"
That’s exactly what Ethan Sinclair thought.
When he married Kiana Sutton, he was forced into it. For three years, he’d constantly wished for a divorce, but the old lady kept pressing him, never agreeing to it.
He thought that once he divorced Kiana Sutton, he’d be very happy.
But when Kiana Sutton mentioned divorce today, his first reaction wasn’t happiness or relief. It was an overwhelming anger mixed with some unidentifiable emotion.
Sensing something, Julian Garrison cautiously asked, "Don’t tell me you’ve actually fallen for Kiana Sutton?"
Ethan Sinclair stood up abruptly, "Impossible!"
At that moment, Gavin Hale arrived.
"Fifth Master, Young Master Garrison, sorry to keep you waiting. I brought a friend along. Shane, this is Ethan Sinclair, President of Evercrest Group, and this is Julian Garrison from the Garrison Family."
Then, Gavin Hale looked towards Ethan Sinclair and Julian Garrison, "President Sinclair, Young Master Garrison, this is a friend I recently made, Shane Lawson, works in investment banking."
With a smile, Shane Lawson extended his hand to Ethan Sinclair, "President Sinclair, I’ve heard a lot about you."
Ethan Sinclair was in a terrible mood, but he still had to give some face to the friend Gavin Hale brought. After shaking hands with Shane Lawson, he said indifferently, "You guys have fun, I’m heading back."
As Ethan Sinclair stumbled out, Julian Garrison, concerned, told Gavin Hale and Shane Lawson, "You two hang out, I’ll go check on Ethan."
"Hey... we just got here, and you’re leaving already?"
Looking at the table littered with empty glasses, Gavin Hale exclaimed in surprise, "Whoa, how did they drink so much in so little time? What’s troubling President Sinclair so much?"
Shane Lawson adjusted his glasses with a faint smile, "Who knows? Let’s just sit for a while."
"I was planning to introduce you properly to President Sinclair, but I didn’t expect him to leave in a bad mood. I’ll arrange another gathering some other day."
Picking up his glass, Shane Lawson replied enigmatically, "No rush, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet President Sinclair in the future."
...
When Ethan Sinclair returned home, it was already two in the morning.
Chelsea Chapman, aware that Kiana Sutton and Ethan Sinclair were planning to divorce, couldn’t sleep. Hearing sounds, she immediately rushed out from her room, "Young Master, are you... you okay?"
Ethan Sinclair instinctively asked, "Where’s Kiana Sutton?"
Chelsea Chapman’s face turned a bit awkward, "Young Madam has already left."
Ethan Sinclair frowned tightly, "It’s so late, instead of staying home, she went..."
Before finishing, it’s as if he realized something, and he scoffed, "Good riddance, saves me from getting irritated looking at her!"
Kiana Sutton was a woman of action. After an unpleasant altercation with Ethan Sinclair, she promptly packed up and left for a hotel for the night and started looking for rental listings online.
She hadn’t gone home nor had she informed Hannah Lowell about the divorce, fearing Hannah would bombard her with questions back home, depriving her of peace. She planned on renting a place first.
When Joy Morgan heard that Kiana Sutton was planning to divorce Ethan Sinclair, she rushed over to be with her.
Seeing Kiana Sutton’s pallid and worn-out appearance, Joy felt both pained and worried, "What happened? Weren’t things progressing well between you two? How did it escalate to divorce?"
Kiana Sutton has always been transparent with Joy Morgan, so she recounted everything that happened. After listening, Joy exploded, "Good riddance! Why would you stay with such a man, wearing a figurative green hat daily?"
Kiana Sutton gave a bitter smile, feeling an unceasing pain in her chest.
"It’s okay, it’s okay. There are plenty of good men in the world. Our Kiana is so beautiful and wonderful, you’re bound to meet a man who only has eyes for you and loves you deeply."
