His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 67: Against the Marriage
Chapter 67 - Against the Marriage
"M-Marry?"
Both Linus and Hana uttered together, their voices overlapping in shock.
Shuri looked at her parents' utterly shocked expressions and didn't know how to respond.
She hadn't expected Noran to just drop the bomb like that.
Linus coughed a few times, trying to calm himself down before speaking. "I-Isn't that too soon..."
"Oh my god! Noran Kingston is going to be my son-in-law?!"
Hana interrupted, her excitement palpable.
Her eyes sparkled as if she had just won the lottery.
Ignoring Linus's hesitation, she asked, "When are you going to be my son-in-law?"
Noran smiled, his demeanor calm and thoughtful. "I'll leave that for Shuri to decide."
To be honest, he wanted to marry her as soon as possible, but Shuri thought they should take things slower and properly inform their family and friends this time.
Unlike their past life, they were surrounded by people who cared about them now.
"Ahem, please listen to me." Linus coughed to draw their attention.
"It's not that I don't approve of your relationship with my daughter, Mr. Lee. But I think this is too sudden. How long have you two been together? Are you sure you're right for each other?"
Noran replied without hesitation, "Mr. Linus, I understand your concern. But you don't have to worry. Rin is the only one for me."
He looked down at Shuri affectionately, and she glanced back at him with the same look of love before turning to Linus.
"Dad, we have known each other for a long time and we take our relationship seriously," Shuri said, feeling it was her responsibility to explain their relationship to her parents.
Linus was skeptical. "You knew each other for a long time? Since when?"
Shuri fell silent, unable to tell them they had known each other and even got married in their previous life.
Seeing Shuri a bit lost, Noran stepped in. "I have been pursuing Rin for more than ten years now."
He wasn't lying; taking his previous life into account, he had been searching for Shuri for more than a decade.
Both Shuri and her parents looked at Noran, shocked by his revelation.
"You don't have to tell them that..." Shuri said softly to him.
"What's wrong with telling them the truth?" Noran looked back at her, his eyes filled with sincerity.
"Oh my, I didn't know you are so in love with my daughter, Noran! If I had known, I would have helped you earlier!" Hana exclaimed, still as supportive of their relationship as ever.
She was genuinely happy for her daughter, who had never looked at any man with such affection and concern.
What's more, the man was none other than Noran Kingston, someone she had been a huge fan of.
Linus, however, was still a little hesitant.
He knew that having the chairman of Paragon as a son-in-law would greatly benefit his business and earn him much admiration.
But he was reluctant to marry off his precious daughter so quickly, no matter how incredible Noran was.
Shuri was his treasure, and he wanted to ensure she didn't rush into marriage recklessly.
"I still think both of you should take it slow..." Linus began, his voice tinged with concern.
Hana quickly cut him off, her tone sharp. "Stop trying to get in between them, honey. Did you forget you married me despite my parents objecting to our marriage?
Now, you want to do the same to our daughter? I don't like men with double standards."
She pouted and turned away from Linus, her disapproval evident.
Linus quickly lowered his stance, trying to pacify her. "Dear, that's not what I mean..."
"Then what do you mean, huh? Can't you see our Riri is so in love with Noran? I mean, can you blame her?
Just look at my future son-in-law. Not only can his looks bring down a country, but he's extremely talented, wealthy, capable, a man of high status, and incredibly devoted to our Riri. Where else can you find a better man than him?"
She gestured towards Noran, who seemed to shine brightly amidst her praises.
"If I were Riri, I would have married him in an instant."
Linus now had a bitter look on his face.
"Do you really mean it, dear?"
He sounded a little jealous because of how his wife kept praising another man, supposedly his future son-in-law.
But he couldn't direct his jealousy at Noran because of his chairman status.
He couldn't afford to offend someone with such a high caliber.
Hana was still pouting. "Noran has been pursuing our Riri for more than ten years, while you kept working and leaving me alone at home. Do you seriously want me to say more?"
"I know I have been neglecting you recently, honey..." Linus tried to explain, but Hana refused to look at him.
Shuri watched her parents having a lovers' quarrel and became speechless.
They were discussing her marriage; could her parents just take their quarrel to their room?
"Ahem, Mum, Dad, can you do this some other time? Ran is still here."
Shuri's reminder brought Hana and Linus' attention back to Noran and Shuri.
Linus immediately apologized, "I'm sorry to let you see us like that, Mr. Lee." freēnovelkiss.com
Noran smiled politely. "Not a problem."
Linus then continued, "As I was saying..."
Hana shot him a sharp look. "You better think wisely about what you should be saying."
Linus fell silent for a brief moment.
He knew he had upset his wife because he had been neglecting her for quite some time, so he thought he shouldn't go against her wishes and their daughter's marriage.
He sighed deeply. "Let's set a date for your marriage."
Shuri looked at her father's dejected expression, and her lips couldn't help but twitch a bit.
She thought her mother really had a way of controlling her father.
As expected, Hana became excited. "Yes, let's do that! We can ask Master Hoon for help."
"Master Hoon?" Shuri asked, curiosity piqued.
"Oh, he's a mystic that Aera has been going to frequently for guidance. She says he has incredible powers to bring good luck and tell fortunes. The fragrant pouch that Jin gave you is from him."
"Fragrant pouch?" Noran asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked at Shuri with a hint of jealousy.
Shuri noticed his displeasure and quickly explained, "He gave it to me to help me sleep better."
"You had problems sleeping well?" Noran's expression shifted to one of concern, his previous jealousy forgotten.
Shuri didn't have the heart to tell Noran she woke up almost every night from nightmares of him dying, so she quickly said, "Now that you're here, I sleep better."
As expected, a smile quickly formed on his lips.
"So, you won't need that fragrant pouch now, right? Please hand it to me."
"Why do you need it, Ran?" Shuri asked in confusion.
"To burn it to ashes," Noran replied while still smiling as if it was the right thing to do.
Shuri widened her eyes at him. "You can't do that! Since I won't be using it, I should return it to Jin."
"You're going to meet him?" Noran's expression darkened once more, his displeasure returning.
"He's just a friend..."
"Ahem!" Linus coughed, cutting Shuri off to draw their attention. "We're still here, you know."
Linus could no longer watch his daughter having a lover quarrel with her fiancé.
They were discussing her marriage; could his daughter just take their quarrel to their room?
Shuri looked back at her parents, feeling a little embarrassed.
Previously, she had reminded her parents not to engage in a lovers' quarrel, but now she was doing it with Noran instead.
She sighed inwardly, realizing that love and its complications were universal, regardless of age or relationship.
"Isn't it nice to be young," Hana commented, eyeing Noran and Shuri with a hint of envy in her eyes.
"Please treat my Riri like you have been, Noran. Don't become a husband who neglects his wife because of work."
"Dear!" Linus protested, knowing Hana was referring to him.
Noran just smiled and answered, "Don't worry, nothing is more important than Rin."
He was still holding onto Shuri's hand, his grip firm and reassuring.
Hana ignored Linus and nodded approvingly before continuing, "If you don't mind, Noran, could you give me your birthdate and time? Aera mentioned that Master Hoon needs both partners' details to choose an auspicious wedding date."
Before Noran could answer, Shuri quickly interjected, "Is this Master Hoon reliable, Mum? There are many scammers around."
"He must be reliable. Aera said Master Hoon has helped her and her family with many issues. According to Aera, all his talismans and fortune readings are really helpful.
He's the one who said you're their family's lucky star, which is why Aera is so fixated on having you as her daughter-in-law."
Shuri felt Noran's grip tighten around her hand, his displeasure evident despite the forced smile on his face.
Little did Hana know that the mention of Aera and the implication that she wanted Shuri to marry her son didn't sit well with Noran.
"How am I going to fix this?" Shuri sighed in her thought, knowing very well she would need to have a long talk over this matter with Noran later.
Based on her past experience, as sweet and lovable as he might be, a jealous Noran was definitely not one to be trifled with—especially if they happened to be in bed.
