His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 346: Surviving Is A Choice.
Chapter 346: Surviving Is A Choice.
"Answer me, Sarah. Which should I believe?" Mr. Adams asked calmly from the other end. "In case you don’t know, I figured what you did with Victor and I’m so sorry I wasn’t available for you to do the same with me." he mocked.
Pale Sarah could only get paler hearing Mr. Adams’s confession. She took in rough breaths and tried to calm down.
"That wasn’t what happened, you are getting this all wrong," she lied, not for her sake but the same of her father. It was still a mystery to her that her father lived and what remains a bigger mystery at the moment was what Mr. Adam wanted to do with her father and how he had him under his control.
Remembering he spoke about a little help, she decided to go back to that, "What help do you want me to do?"
Her question brought a smirk to Mr. Adam’s face from the other end. He chuckled with humor and replied, "So now you can be of help. Don’t you want to let me know how you fucking suffered first?" he taunts her with how rude she previously was.
Sarah fidgeted with her fingers and bit her lips, frightened. She had one thought in her mind at that moment and it was a question about her father. She could care less about whatever help she could render
"That was a mistake," she apologized, letting her non-existent pride down. "Now tell me how you have my father. How did he survive and why is he with you? Do you want to hurt him? Is he alright?" she threw questions at him and Mr. Adams listened patiently.
When she kept silent from her rants, he took his precious time and said slowly, "I have your father because I saved him that night. Let’s just say I saw you as a tool that night and just so you know, when you saw me whispering into Alfred’s ear that night, we discussed you. I whispered into his ears to keep you and I decided to save your father later on because I figured something like this might happen_"
She gasped in shock, "You mean I was part of your plans from the beginning?" Sarah cut him off.
Mr. Adams hummed, "Smart," he gave her credits, "But don’t feel so special to think I stalked you or something. Your family was the last for Alfred to destroy before his break and I decided to interfere which happened to clash with your existence and I chose you should become a character in my book for revenge. You know something?"
Sarah stayed quiet and answered hesitantly when Mr. Adams also stayed quiet. She realized he awaited her reply and gave him one, "No,"
"As expected," Mr. Adams nodded, "Just like I have your father, Alfred has my daughter and sadly, she hates me now," he went around in circles.
Sarah raised her brows. She was curious but not curious enough to want to know. Going back to the matter at hand, she asked again, "What kind of help do you want from me?" she sounded rather impatient.
"Hmm, fairly simple," Mr. Adams hit the nail on the head, "I want you to open your drawer as we speak. You’ll see a tiny camera in the form of a mouthpiece _"
"My drawer?" Sarah cut him off, sure to her nerves that he had lost his mind. How did he get to her drawer?
"Yes, your drawer," Mr. Adams said firmly.
In disbelief, Sarah scrambled out of her bed and rushed towards her drawer. "The last one," Mr. Adams instructed from the other end as if he stood before her.
Sarah’s heart dropped to her stomach at the instruction. With shaky hands, she opened the last drawer, supposedly empty, and lo and behold, her eyes caught sight of the mouthpiece he spoke of.
Shills ran through her and her temperature ran cold in seconds. She felt like she could die and her body trembled as she dropped to the floor to support herself.
"And to be exact, it’s a black one," he added, installing more fear in her.
Unable to endure the shock anymore, she managed to ask, "How did you.... do this?"
Mr. Adams took steps away from her father, "That shouldn’t be your trouble. What should be your top priority at this moment is how you’d help me with that tiny important asset you hold,"
Sarah tucked a strand of other hair behind her ear and tried not to throw up from tension, "What do I get if I do this?"
Mr. Adams frowned at the other end, "Nothing," he replied surely, "It’s either you live or die," he sounded so nonchalant that one would have thought he never spoke about human life.
Sarah’s heart left her, "Death? How about my father?"
"Don’t worry about him, your father would be safe and sound. And also, your chances of survival are high," he gave her tiny hops to pick on.
Sarah raised a brow at him, "How would I know if I would live or not when you haven’t told me what you want me to do with this?"
Mr. Adams fixed a hand into his pant pocket and replied, "Everyone wakes up by luck and everyone survives by choice. It’s your choice to get caught and die, also it’s your choice to wrap this up successfully, and live,"
Sarah gulped.
He went on, "I want you to attach that camera you hold to the screen of one of the computers in the monitoring room of that mansion you reside in. Do not leave the room until after ten minutes because it would fully dissolve into the screen of the computer after ten minutes of being installed on the computer and make sure no one comes in while you do that. I repeat, do not leave the room until after ten_"
Sarah interrupted him again, "I heard you the first time," she snapped, "And if I may ask, isn’t the war over yet? Alfred has been put behind bars and Logan seems happy. What more?"
Mr. Adams disregarded her question and said, "As I said, follow my instructions. I give you a week to get this done, and trust me to help you meet your father just the exact way I placed that into your drawer," he told her and hung up on her.
Sarah took the phone off her ear and stared at her phone screen in amazement. She felt like she was losing it. She called the line back, she wanted to speak to her father but as if the whole call was a hallucination, the line wasn’t reachable and was reported not to have ever existed.
Sweat broke down her forehead. She almost believed the whole phone call was a lie until she felt the small camera on her palm.
[Present]
Sarah was glad she finally found the control room. She never thought a day for it would come but Logan just made it possible for her.
