Chapter 358: Toying With Her Emotions.

Nicklaus picked Arissa’s throw pillow from the floor and placed it in order. He spent his evening after work making sure that her room looked neat.

He arranged every corner of it and took the flowers and candles away. The whole house had already been cleaned by the staff but he decided to arrange her bedroom himself.

Done arranging her bed and the whole room, he took one sip from his glass of wine on her mini table and laid down on her bed. He filled his nose with her scent. He held onto her pillow and wondered how tonight would be for him without her.

Grabbing his phone from her lampstand, he swiped through. About to give her a call, Daniel call came in first.

"Mr. Wyatt," Daniel called from the other end the moment the call was connected.

Nicklaus rose from the bed rested his back on Arissa’s headboard and asked, "What happened? You do not sound alright,"

Daniel nodded at the other end as if Nicjkaus stood before him. From there, he went on to report all that happened at Logan’s mansion.

Nicklaus sat up in surprise. He wasn’t able to believe his ears, "I need pictures. Send me proofs," he ordered at the end of Daniel’s words.

Daniel nodded, "I will,"

Nicklaus hung up and in the next second, his phone beeped with messages and when he looked into them, he found pictures of Logan’s mansion now crumbled down to dust.

He stood up from the bed in surprise and immediately, he sent a call over to Mr. Adams.

"Is this how you protect someone?" Nicklaus questioned Mr. Adams through the phone as he walked back and forth from the door to her window with trembling emotions.

"Is this what you call protecting your daughter?" he asked again as he sat on the couch. Slowly sipping his glass of wine, he debated within himself.

He could not believe what Mr. Adams had done. The gravity of what Mr. Adams did was too much and it left him angered.

Another reason for his anger was that he was only finding out about what Mr. Adams did two hours later. He was clueless about the whole thing.

What Mr. Adams opened up to him was about the camera incident and nothing more. It wasn’t until he asked Daniel for updates about Mr. Adams that he came to realize from Daniel what the man had done. He crumbled the house and he was so sure that a few people must have died in there.

Mr. Adams let out a low ready sigh, "I’m so sorry, Mr. Wyatt but if protecting my daughter should be this extreme, then I do not mind doing it. Whereas I’ve worked with Alfred for a long and when Logan joined with Alfred, I realized that the police had been on the chase with the man but he had only been lucky and extremely smart," he explained. He was remorseful but refused to sound like it.

When he heard no reply from Nicklaus, he continued convincing, "Logan was an obstacle to your marriage with my daughter. Those papers he signed with Alfred were powerful and I can’t let it hinder my daughter’s happiness _"

Nicklaus cut him off, "If so, why did you not send the girl you tricked into doing your bidding to burn the prayers or destroy them? Do you think your words now are worth it?" his voice came out harder than usual.

Mr. Adams released a calm sigh from the other end, and said, "They are. The words are worth it. From what I found out, Logan now works with the higher-ups and the higher-ups on their own want you to get married to someone new of their choice. They want you to get married to either Mr. Robert or Mr. Rhode’s daughter. What do you think would happen then if you all go to trial and those documents are presented? You are toying with my daughter’s emotions if you think you can control everyone and do things your way."

He went on, "I wasn’t able to protect her in the past because I had to stay behind the shadows but now that I can, please let me protect her and help to give her happiness. She has gone through so much when it comes to emotions and I do not want to watch her breaking down again because of minor issues like this that can be fixed. Concerning the higher-ups, you can cut ties with them and go on with your company." he paused and went on, "I’ve seen you through thick and thin, Nicklaus. I know you are brave and smart, young and successful. If you want to have my blessing to be with my daughter forever, I ask you to cut off from being tied to them. Do not fight them, just cut off from them and remain happy with my daughter." he advised.

The fatherly love that flowed off Mr. Adams’s words froze Nicklaus. He recognized that emotions - so real and pure. It reminded him that he once had a father who would also kill to keep him safe and protected.

Mr. Wyatt doesn’t do anything less but still, the feelings are more strong when it’s from your blood, and he begins to understand Mr. Adams in little lights.

Not saying one more word, he hung up on Mr. Adams and sank his back into the couch in deep thought.

He had been confused about what to do. Geal promised they would talk about it later and when he came back downstairs, his friend had gone.

He later sent him a text saying, "You might not remember her but Valeria needs me. I might drop by tonight,"

He tossed his phone away and in deep thoughts, he stared out Arissa’s window and began to reconsider.

He considered what Mr. Adams said and what his father might decide. Mr. Adams said all he had in mind to do but he held back because of Mr. Wyatt.
