Chapter 371: The Bargain.

"Arissa?" Jocelyn held both sides of Arissa’s shoulders and helped her to turn fully to her, "What happened? Did he talk about not wanting a baby?" her eyes searched Arissa’s face curiously.

Arissa stayed silent and it killed Jocelyn.

She shook Arissa’s shoulders, "Talk to me, girl. Did he refuse the baby? Aren’t you both already on good terms?" she interrogated, her heart thumping loudly.

Arissa shook her head and wrapped her hands around herself, "He wants the baby. He has always wanted a baby from me but he seems to be going through a lot lately and I think it has something to do with me and now, I’m adding the baby to myself. It’s just as if I decided to give him another burden on purpose," she cried.

A slight frown marred Jocelyn’s face, "So what are you thinking? You want to abort the baby or what?"

"No," Arissa countered immediately, "I can’t do that, I already love my baby so much, and even if I do not want or love him, I would never think of such,"

Jocelyn blinked softly and spread her arms apart for Arissa. Arissa immediately threw herself into the hug and freed her heart from tears.

"I know you won’t think of such," Jocelyn said giving Arissa a tender pat on her back, "I know you love your baby. You’ve always wanted a family but held back because you assumed you’d make a bad mother which was false. Just stop crying so much, your high emotions won’t be good for the baby,"

Arissa giggled in the hug and wiped her tears, "I never guessed that... To be honest, I’m so lost at this moment," she opened up and parted from the hug.

Jocelyn smiled, "That’s fine. I know a few things and also, you have everyone around you. We would back you up and stand with you. That reminds me, have you shared the news with your mother?"

Arissa blinked in confusion, "My mother?" she asked to be sure because there was no way in hell’s name she would expect to hear a suggestion as this from Jocelyn. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Jocelyn nodded, "I meant, Mrs. Wyatt. Have you told her she would become a grandmother soon?" she emphasized and squealed like a fangirl.

Arissa blushed, "I haven’t but_"

"What are you waiting for? Do it now!" Jocelyn ordered in a high-pitched tune that startled Arissa. She searched around for Arissa’s phone and when she found it, she tucked it into her friend’s right hand, "Here, give her a call and share the good news with her,"

Arissa moisture her lower lip with her wet tongue and smiled softly, "I can’t call her," she said shyly, "I won’t be able to speak again after sharing the news with her,"

Jocelyn laughed, "I knew it. Now you have me wondering how you shared the news with Nicklaus," she mussed with a sly smirk at the corner of her lips.

Arissa rolled her eyes at the sight of that smirk. She hates it whenever Jocelyn has it on. It means her friend was up to no good, "Wipe that smirk off,"

Jocelyn smirked more and raised an eyebrow at her friend, "Why?" she asked, teasing Arissa by allowing her eyebrows to dance.

Arissa laughed softly, "It makes you look like a lesbian. How many times should I say this?" she let out a low grunt at the end.

Jocelyn scoffed, "Trust me, if wasn’t straight, your ass would be the only thing I would have been into," she said with a funny accent, trying to mimic whoever she was.

Arissa chuckled, amused. "Stop it."

Jocelyn raised her both hands to the air in a surrendering manner, she let out another boyish grin.

Arissa smiled at the sight of the grin, "Stop it already,"

"I would. Inform Nicklaus’s mother about the baby and I promise to stop," Jocelyn bargained.

Arissa raised her hand to her hair and scratched her non-itching hair. She bit her lips and typed absentmindedly on her phone screen without switching it on. She did that, building up words to say.

Gathering them, she decided to keep it short. Switching on her phone, she immediately went to the message button and typed, "I am pregnant, Mother," and then, she sent the message to Mrs Wyatt with a thumping heart.

She was a thousand present sure of Mrs. Wyatt accepting the child into the family with wide arms but she wondered what Mr. Wyatt might say or think. He already seems not to like her.

"I have sent it," she informed Jocelyn and stared at her phone screen, waiting for a reply.

Jocelyn drooped a hand on her friend’s shoulder and nodded, "I heard the notification," she turned her face and scanned the kitchen, "I came over to do the dishes but you have cleared all of them and good thing I came over. I wouldn’t have heard such an adorable conversation of all time," she adored with red stairs on her cheeks.

Arissa nodded with a small smile. Her face began to turn pale and she felt sleepy, "Lyn, I think we should talk later. I feel so sleepy,"

Jocelyn nodded and let go of her shoulder to hold her hand. "I think I can still walk," Arissa said with a smile.

Jocelyn paused from holding her hand and gave her a slight nod, "If that’s the case, I think I’d be behind you after grabbing a glass of water for Adele. In case she wakes up while I’m busy,"

Arissa hummed and began to walk away. Jocelyn arranged the glass, a tray, and a few more fruits as Arissa moved on.

Arissa’s steps became slow by the second and her sight tripled. She tried not to disturb Jocelyn and move forward but before she could completely walk out of the kitchen door, she missed her footing and her body turned slum and fell sideways.

Jocelyn screamed at the sight of that. She rushed forward but before Arissa could reach the floor, a strong pair of arms caught her.
