Chapter 385: Meant To Get Mad.

The couple fell asleep in that position. Reaching dusk, Arissa’s eyes parted open from her deep slumber.

She yawned lightly and enjoyed the new surge of strength that she felt inside of her. The deep peaceful slumber helped her to feel better.

She raised her face to stare at Nicklaus. Her heart fluttered with happiness when she did and just before she would take her eyes off him to get what she wanted for her hungry stomach, she caught sight of a small smile at the corner of his lips. He smiled so comfortably like one without a worry.

Her countenance softened. She smiled beautifully when she saw him smiling in his sleep. She was curious to know why he smiled in his sleep.

He slept off with tears and now, seeing him smile, she released a deep breath and hugged him. She hoped the smile would remain on his lips forever because he deserved it.

Hugging him, she involuntarily dozed off again, and when she woke up for the second time, she was all alone on the bed.

Placing a hand on her stomach, she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and sat on the bed. She chuckled and folded her legs to herself when she looked around the room and realized she wasn’t in her room but Nicklaus’s.

She rubbed her arms, trying to reduce the chilling temperature surrounding her. Earlier the temperature felt okay but now, she felt cold.

Behind her, Nicklaus walked out of his closet holding a new shirt in his hand. He chuckled and put on his shirt when he saw his wife seated on the bed with her back facing him.

He silently walked towards the bed and wrapped his arms around her whole body from behind her.

"Nick," Arissa called him softly. She tilted her head to the side to catch a glimpse of his face and when she did, Nicklaus stole a quick kiss and leaned his face off her face with a smile.

Arissa turned red. She blushed hard in surprise and took her hands off her arms. His body was warm enough to heat her.

"Thank you," she said and looked away from his intense gaze.

Nicklaus chuckled and dropped a kiss on her shoulder. He dropped another on her neck and a few more trailed down her shoulder to her wrist. He was proud to be able to make her blush so hard.

Arissa felt so lucky. She never realized how lucky she had been at the start and she was grateful she realized it earlier and not late.

"C’mon, let me brush your hair, and let’s go down for dinner," Nicklaus requested softly, staring at her best hair, "You must be hungry," he whispered against her ear and dropped another soft kiss at the back of her ear.

Arissa licked her lower lip and shook her head, smiling. She never imagined a life as good as this from someone.

Nicklaus knelt on the bed and cradled her into his arms in a bridal style. Arissa yelped softly at the unexpected lift.

"Shush," Nicklaus told her as he kneeled and walked to the edge of the bed, "We have to hurry up so you can eat earlier."

"Yeah," Arissa agreed.

Nicklaus sat her down on the chair before his vanity table and picked up the hairbrush he got from her room earlier.

Arissa’s heart melted when she saw him all prepared to brush her hair. She whirled her head around and looked up at him with so much emotions in her eyes.

Nicklaus held her gaze patiently. He brushed the bridge of her nose with his thumb. "Dazzling," he murmured to himself and leaned in slightly. Unable to hold himself back, he placed a feather kiss on her lips and stood straight.

Arissa smiled and sat properly, staring at the mirror for him to start. With care, Nicklaus began to stock her hair with the brush.

So many thoughts ran through Arissa’s mind when he started. He doesn’t seem professional but one can see it from his eyes that he loved what he was doing. Each time he met her eyes from the vanity mirror, she tried to return a smile so he wouldn’t get nervous or feel how sad she truly felt.

"What makes you sad?" Nicklaus questioned all of a sudden the moment he caught her spacing out. A slight frown marred his expression when he confirmed the emotions in her eyes to be that of sadness. It worried him that she felt sad.

Arissa met his eyes from the vanity mirror. Trying to play it off, she took a stand at her almost fully brushed hair and played with the tips of it.

"Love?" Nicklaus dropped the hairbrush on the vanity table and came to kneel before her. He placed both of his hands on her knee and continued, "What is it? Feel free to let me know,"

Arissa took in a soft gulp, "No," she shook her head in disagreement.

"No?" Nicklaus repeated, taken aback by her reply. The shock was noticeable in his voice and expression.

Arissa took her eyes off his gaze and stared at her nails.

Nicklaus held her fist in his. He flashed her a gentle encouraging smile, "Why no?" he still tried to coax her in the most loving way possible.

Arissa thinned her lips. "You would get mad at me, Nick," she said softly, staring into his eyes with tears at the brim of her eyes.

"Hmm," Nicklaus smiled and cleaned under her eyes with his fingers. Done with that, he sat down before her and folded his legs, "Why would I get mad at you?"

Arissa stared at his hands on her skin. She pushed his hands off her body and with a serious expression, she replied, "Because you should. You are meant to get mad at me after listening to what I have to say."

Nicklaus blinked, "Say it,"
