His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 395: Some Things Never Change.
Chapter 395: Some Things Never Change.
To the shock of everyone except Mr. Wyatt and Geal, Mr. Adams walked in behind the couple. He walked towards the table with Arissa and stood behind her as he have always done when she was still a little girl.
"Join us," Arissa ordered softly with a smile. Her emotions wasn’t yet stable and what Nicklaus told her earlier in the bathroom about Mr. Adams being her biological father and not Alfred left her shaken.
She believed Nicklaus but when he showed her DNA proof between herself and Mr. Adams to solidify his claims, she forgot how to breath.
When they came back downstairs and she saw the man who have been so kind to her all through childhood, she said noting to him apart from a soft nod for the sake of formality.
She doesn’t even know what to say to him or how to see him in a new light of being her biological father and slowly, everything fell into places. She finally understood why Alfred tried to kill her in the hospital. He wouldn’t have done that had it been she were to be his daughter.
Her breath caught up in her throat and she tried not to cry. Nicklaus read her body language and placed a hand behind her, stocking her down to calm her nerves.
Mr. Adams greatfully took the seat in between Arissa and Mrs. Wyatt before joining then to eat. He locked eyes with Nicklaus concerning Arissa dull expression and when Nicklaus nodded, Mr. Adams took in a deep breath of understanding.
Some things never change.
He stole a glance at Arissa, trying to understand how she took in the sudden information from Nicklaus. He never thought a day would come for him to openly let his child know that she was his.
Throughout breakfast, Nicklaus rested his whole attention on Arissa. He did not take notice of his friend unhappy expression as that was none of his business.
Mr. Wyatt dropped his cutleries and cleared his throat, "Son," he called grabbing Nicklaus attention.
Nicklaus raised his face to his father.
Mr. Wyatt blue eyes searched the dinning room and rested in Nicklaus again, "The Lin’s group shares would be shared two days from now," he reminded.
Mr. Adams paused eating at the mention of the Lin’s group. That group holds so much trouble and whoever follows it won’t be walking on a soft floor.
Nicklaus munched slowly and nodded, "I know that. I’m leaving today," he informed. Mr. Wyatt nodded and Arissa face dropped.
Mr. Adams passed a surprised look over to Nicklaus. His jaw clenched in refusal. What was Nicklaus thinking?
They won’t let him get any share unless they bend him to obey their wishes. Would Nicklaus really go there to become their puppet? What if they ask him to divorce Arissa as they wish now that she was no longer of any use?
Adele took notice of her sister’s expression. Arissa slowly raised her face to Adele and when their eyes met, Adele smiled softly at her as if saying; i’ll be here when he leaves.
Arissa nodded and smiled back.
Mrs. Wyatt added more fish into Arissa plate, "Eat up dear," she advised, bringing Nicklaus attention back to Arissa.
Nicklaus placed his hand at the back of Arissa’s neck and gave her a gentle pat there. He leaned closer to her ear and whispered, "I’ll be back before you know it,"
Arissa nodded and bent her face, for him to place a kiss on her cheek. Nicklaus understood the assignment perfectly and dropped a kiss on her cheek. Arissa gave him a blissful smile and returned to her meal.
Jocelyn watched Arissa. She winked at Arissa when their eyes met and Arissa rolled her eyes softly.
"Nicklaus, can we have a moment?" Mr. Adams requested, already moving out if his seat.
Mr. Wyatt blue eyes pierced Mr. Adams from where he sat. His curiosity kicked in and he wished to know what his son was being called out for.
"Sure," Nicklaus agreed.
Mr. Adams stood up from his seat and walked towards the door. Nicklaus wiped the corner of his lips with a table napkin before standing up.
Arissa held his left wrist and looked up at him, "Can I come?" it was a question but her voice was far from someone asking a question. She sounded like one who would tag along either way.
Hearing Arissa question, Mr. Adams paused. He turned to Nicklaus and from the looks in his eyes, Nicklaus understood the conversation wouldn’t be something Arissa would want to hear.
Nicklaus leaned down and kissed the crown of Arissa’s head. Arissa shut her eyes sweetly and accepted the kiss greatfully.
Nicklaus leaned away and stared into her eyes, "You can’t come, Love. Why don’t you eat up and wait for me," he said lowly.
He met his mother eyes to help him but Mrs. Wyatt just looked away. The look in her eyes asked him to be truthful to Arissa.
Arissa frowned, "Why can’t I come?" having a feeling it has something to do with what Nicklaus his from her, she was determined to tag along.
Mr. Wyatt and everyone in the dinning hall fixed their eyes in the couple. Adele bit her lower lip when she felt Arissa controlling side about to brush open.
"Nick_"
"Okay, you can come," Nicklaus gently cut her off and stretched a hand towards her. Arissa nodded in acceptance and took his hand in his.
"Don’t try to change the topic because I’m present," she warned, specifically to Mr. Adams. She saw the look he exchanged with Nicklaus.
Nicklaus turned to Mr. Adams and back to his wife. He smiled softly and assured, "He won’t try to,"
"Good," Arissa nodded and walked out of her sit.
Mr. Adams let out a low sigh when he saw this. Having no other choice, he walked out of the dining and let the couple follow behind him.
