Chapter 177: Tell Cyrus!?

Staring at her father, Alice was at a loss for words. She had no wish to startle right now. All that surfaced was unkind emotions that were headed to recognition.

"So... you killed that witch?" Alice asked, still trying to overcome the thought in her mind. "I did what I felt was right at that time. To save your mother was my responsibility and I performed that."

"But in the middle of saving lives, I actually ruined your entire life. The head witch appeared at that spot and seeing her associate witch dead, she was furious."

"Both I and your mother weren’t left in any position to survive. That another witch actually spared our lives. But when she saw the baby bump on your mother’s stomach, that was when she had given the curse to you."

"W-what did she say?" Alice’s heartbeat quickened when she asked. It was an undoubted lesson in her head.

King Vilas’s lips turned into the bitter smile to say, "She put the curse on the Queen’s stomach to hold all the features of the witch. She had sent another fire into the Queen’s stomach’s direction which caused the Queen to faint. But the curse had... actually got over her and transferred to you too."

The words held something that was not new. For Alice, she had heard about all the anger side of the witches. Even when he had told her that she was one of them, it didn’t come as a shock.

However, the waves of emotions hadn’t stopped right there. The bundle of questions left unabashed.

Alice lowered her head and looked at the bottom of the grass. Her mind suffered and it kept on going and running back. Until she found her heart still feeling the blood.

"S-o.. this is how.. I was different?" Alice’s slumber voice made king Vilas turn around. He hadn’t stopped looking at Alice.

But those hurtful gazes were the last thing he knew should catch his eyes. "You were different. When the curse was put on you, your mother approached Forex. He told us that you will actually be special of all kinds. Marriage will not be possible either. You will change the historical time and this was something which always concerned your mother. I mean, always, until her last time." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"The reason I kept you under my wings was because I always felt that this unknown status of yours might ruin your life. You may fall into a trap and they will kill you because of your witch status..."

King Vilas’s tone pleased with time. She could sense the guilt which was still rising up to his head. As she traced her father, she noted those shallow eyes and those traced knitted brows.

’He is too sorry for that time...’ guessing wasn’t hard.

But what caused the turmoil was to know about her mother. "How come mother died?"

Her words startled King Vilas. Those eyes bulged with significant fear. Alice never asked such a question, knowing that it would cause the old wounds to reopen.

Yet the kind of intensity in her speech told him she was very much prepared. "Y-your mother... it wasn’t just you on whom the curse was put. It was your mother too. She wasn’t able to handle giving birth to such a power creature and..."

He left the words unspoken. But Alice didn’t even feel the need to complete them since that was the very truth they all knew.

For some reason, her heart ached a lot. Subconsciously, she brought her hand near her heart to caress it lightly. There was the tinge of tears at the bay of her eyelashes too.

But holding them all back in one go, she managed to tame herself and didn’t allow her mind to rupture. "I-it... was.. a-all because of me?" Her mumble was heard by King Vilas, who immediately shook his head, "Don’t! No.. this was never because of you, Alice. It was because of my propers that I was never able to resolve. It was because of your parents who caused havoc and you had to feel the results..."

"But didn’t mother die because she gave birth to me?" Alice’s words made a sigh to escape from King Vilas’s lips. He took a few steps ahead to come by her and hold her shoulders in a circle. "Alice.. don’t blame yourself. It was all destiny that was written."

"We have never been able to win against one." She agreed with her father. Destiny was a harsh. They couldn’t win against one.

Taking a deep breath, Alice closed her eyes for a minute. She knew everything was sailing smoothly until she was born. ’But can I blame myself?’

She had no reasons to do so.

Blinking her eyes downwards, Alice managed to calm her nerves again. Those nerves caused a tickling sensation down her spine.

But Alice then reopened her eyes when the voice of her father was heard, "Alice, this will be very hard to accept."

"But this is how you are. I will never tell you to go and speak with someone else about your identity. No need to do so. Keep it to yourself."

"Except..." king Vilas’s voice trailed slower. His grip on her shoulder tightened and Alice also raised her starry eyes to fix her gaze at him, "Except?"

"Your husband." He finally said and kept his gaze stagnant at his daughter to observe her reaction to the same.

For a while, Alice didn’t react. She didn’t find it worthy of reacting.

But her father found it more amusing in his own tale, "Alice, things aren’t how they should be. Tell your husband about this. Give him a choice."

"Even after knowing, Cyrus stays with you then, I will appreciate it. But if he doesn’t, you will have the answers to many of your questions and to your heart too."
