Chapter 558: Chapter 556: Nicolas Flamel’s Letter

Was Diana an Auror?

To be honest, this was indeed a bit unexpected for Kael, and he instinctively thought Professor Moody had remembered it wrong. But upon careful consideration, it seemed quite possible.

Kael remembered when he first got his admission letter and went to Diagon Alley to shop, the usually bustling Leaky Cauldron fell silent the moment Diana pushed open the door.

Just being an Unspeakable from the Department of Mysteries wouldn’t be enough to achieve that, after all, that identity is confidential, and few people know.

"Auror..."

Kael muttered quietly before turning and heading back to the classroom entrance, walking toward the stairs with Conna.

In the following two weeks, Kael continued to go to the Headmaster’s Office every Saturday to learn from Dumbledore, which made everyone who knew about this extremely envious.

Because Easter was approaching, it was also the last long holiday before the end of the school year.

The fifth-year O.W.L. exams seemed to be looming, with more and more assignments and increasingly strict demands from the professors.

Now, they used more parchment each day than they did in a week before.

But Kael was an exception, as his studies with Professor Dumbledore only required him to write assignments for Potion and Magic History classes.

Of course, Dumbledore couldn’t exempt Kael from Snape’s assignments in Potion Class, and as for Magic History... not even Dumbledore had a say.

Despite this, Kael saved a lot of time. According to Mikel, Professor McGonagall now had them write a roll of parchment daily, so every time he went to Hogsmeade, he had to buy a stack of parchment and two bottles of ink as backup.

The day before the Easter holiday, coincidentally a Saturday, anyone outside the castle would see the Headmaster’s Office windows constantly flashing gold and red.

Inside the Headmaster’s Office, everything looked completely different. The room grew infinitely larger as Dumbledore transported an entire lake the size of the Black Lake inside his office.

The surface of the lake burned with flickers of flame that hadn’t extinguished yet, making the room unbearably hot like a furnace. Past headmasters crowded into a painting with a winter background, seemingly trying to cool off... though they couldn’t feel the temperature change at all.

Fawkes seemed quite happy, perched on a branch with narrowed eyes, occasionally emitting a comfortable hum.

"Not bad, even I can’t find any fault," Dumbledore said, looking at Kael, who sat in a chair gasping for breath.

With a wave of his wand, the lake vanished, and the Headmaster’s Office returned to normal.

"Have a sip; I think you’ll like it."

A cup of hot cocoa appeared on the nearby table. Kael picked it up and took a large gulp.

"Just as I said earlier, Kael," Dumbledore took a sip of the tea in front of him, "You’ve completely mastered this charm, and there’s no need to keep learning it...

"Next Saturday, you won’t need to come over; you can enjoy doing what you like."

"Alright." Kael nodded, suppressing his excitement before pulling out the booklet Dumbledore gave him initially, "Professor, can I keep this?"

"If you like, certainly," Dumbledore chuckled, "Honestly, when this was published back then, hardly anyone read it... Most people aren’t interested in Ancient Runes."

"But there are some who do, right?" Kael replied.

"That’s true," Dumbledore laughed, "Oh, there’s one more thing I need to tell you."

"What is it?" Kael tucked the booklet back into his pocket.

"It’s about the Easter holiday," Dumbledore opened a drawer and pulled out a piece of red stone.

"This can’t be Nicolas’s Portkey..." Kael blurted out.

Kael found it all too familiar since he had a piece himself, albeit a blue one. Years ago, Nicolas Flamel gave it to him, saying it could transport him to the library at his old Paris estate if needed.

Up until now, Kael hadn’t used it and was unsure when Nicolas intended for him to use it.

"Looks like you remember, so I don’t need to explain further," Dumbledore nodded, "Yes, it’s a Portkey.

"Yesterday Nicolas wrote to me saying you might need this... oh, here it comes."

As he spoke, a brown owl appeared outside the window.

Dumbledore opened the window to let it in.

The owl went straight to Kael, dropped a letter into his hand, then shook itself until it dissolved into a flurry of feathers and vanished.

"Don’t be surprised," Dumbledore explained at just the right moment, "This was crafted by Nicolas using owl feathers... to prevent anyone from tracking his location via owls."

Kael nodded to show understanding.

He then opened the letter.

"I take back what I said before; you might need to come by. Some lady seems to want to have a chat with you..."

The letter was short and bore no signature, only ending with a symbol that looked like a diadem.

"Looks like you have new matters to attend to," Dumbledore chuckled, "Need any help? I’m quite free lately."

"Thanks, Professor, but not at the moment," Kael thought for a moment before speaking, "It’s about the item I had asked Nicolas to repair; there seems to be a problem."

"That’s quite peculiar, Nicolas taking on something and it having issues... Oh, I think I understand."

Dumbledore realized, "I was wondering how you’d deal with that Pendant Box, whether you’d destroy it with Basilisk venom. I didn’t expect you to hand it over to Nicolas; that’s a clever choice.

"I recall Nicolas spent a long time researching soul artifacts, and no one knows more than him in that area."

"Yes, I thought so too," Kael agreed.

Dumbledore guessed correctly, but only half right; Nicolas sought him out because of soul artifacts, but it wasn’t about the Pendant Box.

Nicolas had already mentioned that he was busy resolving matters related to the Philosopher’s Stone and Time Turner and had no time for anything else, so the Pendant Box likely hadn’t been touched yet.

Furthermore, from the diadem symbol at the end of the letter, it was evident he referred to Ravenclaw’s Diadem.

Of course, Dumbledore wasn’t aware of this.

"Professor, when is the Portkey scheduled?" Kael asked.

"Anytime," Dumbledore said, "Just hold it and silently mention Nicolas Flamel’s name.

"But I suggest you wait until tomorrow; the train departs at nine in the morning.

"Remember, you’re still a Champion, with everyone watching your every move. Leaving early would only make guests suspicious."

"Alright, tomorrow then," Kael replied.

He hadn’t planned to set off immediately.

Nicolas’s letter came so abruptly; there were many aspects he didn’t understand and needed to think through.

Some lady wanting to chat... who could it be? Kael was sure it wasn’t Nicolas’s wife.

Coupled with Ravenclaw’s Diadem... A possibility involuntarily crossed Kael’s mind.

Though it sounded absurd, it seemed like the only answer.
