Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard-Chapter 562 - 560: Succeeding Filch?
In the room, Kael was holding his wand, using it like a quill, meticulously drawing magic text and talismans onto the rowan wood frame.
Drawing magic text is not like writing with ink; once written incorrectly, it cannot be revised. This work is destined to be tedious, requiring ample patience and concentration.
Fortunately, Kael happened to possess both qualities.
Moreover, when focused on magic text formulas, time seemed to pass quickly. Kael had only drawn half the frame, and a week had already gone by.
This also meant the Easter holiday was nearly over.
That morning, the house-elf Tata, as usual, brought over a plate of sandwiches and bacon.
The dining table was too large, and since he was alone, it felt more comfortable to eat here.
Kael casually picked up a sandwich, intending to take a bite, when suddenly a head emerged from the plate, standing right in front of him.
This unexpected scene startled Kael, nearly causing him to fling the sandwich away, while Tata beside him let out a piercing scream and dashed out of the room.
"Ms. Helena..."
Recovering his composure, Kael said with lingering fear, "When did you learn Peeves’ tricks?"
"No wonder Peeves enjoys pranks so much," Helena said lightly. "It is quite amusing indeed."
She seemed to have transformed into another ghost, her tone light and joyful, her expression no longer the troubled look she used to wear.
She was smiling, and smiling happily. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
To be fair, as Ravenclaw’s daughter, Helena did raise the average appearance of Hogwarts ghosts, as she did when she was stern before. Now smiling, she might even enchant Bloody Baron into stupidity.
"Ms. Helena, having one Peeves in the castle is enough. I fear everyone would go mad if there were another," Kael said resignedly, setting down the sandwich. "Are you done chatting?"
"Not yet," Helena shook her head. "But Mother said we can communicate in the future, and now we should leave the time to you."
"To me?" Kael raised his head in confusion.
"Yes, you’ll know once you go," Helena said. "But you better hurry; the Easter holiday is about to end."
Kael nodded, put away his wand and the half-drawn magic text mirror, then headed to the previous room.
Tata had already screamed and run far away.
Kael went downstairs and found the room, pushing open the oak door to enter.
The diadem was placed on the table, very conspicuous.
Kael hesitated slightly about whether to put it on when he picked it up.
"Don’t worry, with Mother here, she won’t let the diadem affect you," Helena said behind him, her tone carrying a hint of pride.
As Ravenclaw’s daughter, this was quite normal.
Without further hesitation, Kael placed the diadem on his head.
This time, he did not experience the magical state he had before, exhaling deeply, unsure if he was disappointed or relieved.
"Thank you, child," Ravenclaw’s voice came. "Thank you for bringing Helena over. This child never liked talking to me, and I rarely paid attention to what she wanted... If I had cared more about Helena, she might not have insisted on stealing the diadem.
"Things I neglected turned into shackles that trapped her for over a thousand years."
"Although a bit late, the misunderstanding is finally resolved," Kael said. "And Ms. Helena helped me a lot during the Triwizard Tournament... Oh, it’s a competition among European magical schools, besides Hogwarts, there’s Beauxbatons and Durmstrang."
"Created by Nerida Vulchanova?" Ravenclaw said softly. "Salazar agreed with her teaching philosophy, but Godric disagreed, leading to a heated argument between them."
Kael blinked.
If Slytherin approved, it probably wouldn’t be Beauxbatons... so is it Durmstrang?
He didn’t expect the school’s founder to also have connections with the four greats.
"Anyway, you solved my biggest problem... something I couldn’t solve in my lifetime."
Ravenclaw’s voice sounded ethereal, not as clear as before.
"As thanks, I can grant you one request, as I said before, whether it’s wealth or knowledge."
Kael was somewhat excited.
Though it seemed purposeful, he had indeed been waiting for these words.
Also, it’s no wonder Ravenclaw was one of the greats; quite generous, unlike Dumbledore, with a myriad of conditions attached.
"I want to learn the Vanishing Spell," Kael said almost without hesitation.
"Vanishing Spell?" Ravenclaw pondered. "Is it the charm to erase objects?
Though I can teach you, I must warn you that this spell requires complex magic text, and any mistake might backfire, resulting in irreversible harm, even in my time, it was extremely dangerous.
We tend to use the Lava Devouring Spell; its effect might not be as direct as the Vanishing Spell, but it’s similar and much safer."
Kael’s mouth twitched slightly, feeling Ravenclaw seemed to misunderstand something; erasing and vanishing were somewhat different, weren’t they?
And similar to the Lava Spell, is that what he meant?
Truly teaching everything...
Kael felt a bit tempted but quickly shook his head, resisting the impulse to agree.
"No, you’re mistaken, it’s this kind of Vanishing Spell."
Kael took out his wand, aiming it at a book on the table.
Soon, the book vanished, and when Kael recited the Counter Spell, it reappeared on the table.
"A nice Transfiguration Spell..." Ravenclaw said. "You’ve mastered it quite well. The transformation is very stable; I don’t think there’s a need for further learning."
"That’s true for objects," Kael said. "But I want to learn to cast it on myself."
Then Kael explained his idea briefly... to use this spell to achieve true invisibility.
"A wonderful idea," Ravenclaw said.
"Is it possible to achieve?" Kael asked eagerly.
"Yes." Ravenclaw answered almost without thinking, "The biggest challenge is solving the magic power conflict, so as long as you turn into a Squib, you can achieve it."
Kael’s excitement instantly cooled.
"Then forget it?"
Being a Squib, how could he perform magic? That’s inherently impossible.
Besides, he wasn’t looking forward to taking Filch’s place for now... though it would indeed be convenient for catching rule-breakers.
"No, it’s in another form."
Ravenclaw continued, "The simplest way is using a magic tool."
"What tool?" Kael quickly asked.
"Salazar has a Pendant Box that connects to your magic power."
Ravenclaw said calmly, "When you wear it, the Pendant Box becomes part of your body, yet relatively independent.
"In this way, you can use magic even without any magic power."
