A dull, eerie glow bathed the skeletal trees as the ZETU team stepped deeper into the fog-covered landscape. The branches stretched out like the claws of an unseen predator, silhouetted against the dim light of an unseen source. The silence was oppressive, broken only by the faint sound of their own breathing and the crunch of brittle leaves underfoot.

Captain Marcus "Iron Will" Kane signaled for the team to halt. His sharp eyes scanned the horizon, but the dense fog obscured everything. "Eyes open," he muttered. "This place feels wrong."

"I hate this," Sergeant Jenna "Blaze" Hart whispered, gripping her flamethrower. The faint light reflected off her weapon, her nerves evident in her tight grip. "Feels like we're being watched."

From the depths of the fog, a low, guttural growl reverberated, sending chills through the team. Detective Lila "Huntress" Navarro froze, her keen senses on high alert. "They're here," she said quietly, her dual pistols raised. "And there's a lot of them."

The growling intensified, transforming into a cacophony of distorted snarls. Shadows began to emerge from the mist—tall, emaciated figures with elongated limbs and hollow eyes. Their movements were unnatural, almost floating, as if they were tethered to the mist itself.

"What the hell are these things?" Ethan "Brain" O'Connor muttered, frantically typing on his tablet, trying to scan the area. "These aren't normal zombies…"

"They're wraiths," Huntress said coldly. "Rare and deadly. They thrive in the fog, and they're faster than anything we've faced before."

"Fantastic," Officer Derek "Shield" Coleman grunted, gripping his riot shield tightly. "Just what we needed."

The wraiths moved closer, their distorted forms flickering as if they were part of the fog. One of them let out a piercing screech, and the others charged.

"Light 'em up!" Kane roared.

Blaze unleashed a torrent of fire, the flames cutting through the mist and engulfing the first wave of wraiths. The creatures shrieked as their bodies dissolved into ash, but more kept coming. Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett took position on a nearby boulder, her sniper rifle picking off the wraiths with deadly precision. Each shot landed squarely in their glowing, hollow eyes, causing them to disintegrate.

"They're regrouping!" Brain yelled, pointing at the encroaching shadows. The wraiths were circling, their forms blending seamlessly into the fog.

Huntress darted forward, her movements swift and calculated. She fired her pistols in synchronized bursts, taking down two wraiths before retreating to cover. "We need to find the source of the fog!" she shouted. "It's fueling them!"

"Brain, get us a location!" Kane ordered, pumping his shotgun. He fired at the nearest wraith, blowing it apart in a cloud of black mist.

"I'm working on it!" Brain replied, his tablet beeping furiously. "There's a structure ahead, maybe 300 meters. It's emitting an energy signature that matches the fog!"

"Then that's where we're going," Kane growled. "Move out! Stay tight!"
