The once-vivid skyline of the city faded into a murky blend of yellow and ash as the sun dipped below the horizon. The air carried the metallic stench of decay, thick and oppressive. On the rooftop of an abandoned hospital, ZETU regrouped. Below them, the streets churned with an unrelenting tide of zombies.

"We’ve got less than an hour before the horde breaches the lower floors," Ethan "Brain" O’Connor reported, his tablet glowing faintly as he analyzed drone footage. "And it’s worse—three Titans are converging on our position. If we stay, this place becomes our tomb."

Captain Marcus Kane surveyed the chaos below, gripping his shotgun tightly. "We’re not dying here. We need an exit plan."

"Easier said than done," Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett muttered, her sniper rifle trained on the advancing swarm. "They’ve boxed us in. Even with the Titans, this isn’t random. Someone—or something—is controlling them."

Jenna "Blaze" Hart lit a flare, her face illuminated by the red glow. "If they’re coming to us, we might as well make it memorable. This place is packed with oxygen tanks and fuel reserves. We can turn it into a bonfire."

Lila "Huntress" Navarro nodded, checking her pistols. "It’s a bold move, but we’ll need a clear escape route, or we’ll be toast along with them."

Ethan’s fingers flew across his tablet as he pulled up a blueprint of the hospital. "There’s an emergency elevator shaft that leads to the basement. From there, we can take the sewer tunnels to a safe zone. But the problem is—"

"They’re already in the building," Derek "Shield" Coleman finished, glancing at the barricaded stairwell.

As if on cue, the door buckled under the weight of the undead pounding on the other side. A chorus of guttural snarls and roars echoed through the walls.

"Alright," Marcus said, his voice cutting through the tension. "Blaze, prep the charges. Brain, guide us to the shaft. Shield, you and Huntress cover our six. Quick Shot, take out any climbers. We hold until Blaze is ready."

The team moved into action. Jenna scattered fuel canisters along the rooftop’s edge, rigging them with explosive charges. Lila and Derek stood guard at the stairwell, mowing down the first wave of zombies that broke through. Riley’s rifle barked as she picked off zombies scaling the walls.

"They’re faster than before," Lila noted, reloading her pistols. "This isn’t normal."

"It’s the Hive," Ethan confirmed, his voice grim. "The network is evolving."

"Charges set!" Jenna called out.

"Fall back!" Marcus ordered, leading the team to the elevator shaft. One by one, they rappelled into the darkness below as the rooftop trembled under the weight of the approaching Titans.

Jenna was the last to descend. She detonated the charges just as the Titans reached the rooftop. The explosion lit up the night, a fiery blossom that consumed the hospital and everything on it.

In the sewers below, the team paused to catch their breath. But the distant echoes of roars reminded them—this was far from over.
