Horror Game Designer-Chapter 397: Inevitable
“The past can’t be changed, so that explains the wounds. Even though the future might bring despair, the future hasn’t arrived yet…” Shen Tian looked at Gao Ming on the monitor. He had an idea to fight against the God of the Future in his heart, but he didn’t dare to attempt it. Honestly, any normal person wouldn’t dare to try it. At least, even if they did, they wouldn’t do it as naturally as Gao Ming did.
“Boss, did you spot something?” The man with the knife looked brash and abrasive, but he actually had a sharp mind. He was well-trusted by Shen Tian.
Shen Tian whispered, “Perhaps Gao Ming can see the same things as we see. He is not trapped by the future.”
“Impossible. Who can hug a ghost about three meters tall and act intimate with them? Their eyes are practically buzzing with chemistry. Does Gao Ming have a fetish for ghosts?” The man thought he was crazy enough, but Gao Ming was on another level.
“Don’t forget. He came over from the God of the Past’s apartments. He’s different from us.” Shen Tian stopped talking because new changes appeared on the screen.
Gao Ming held the giant ghost’s hand and left the room. The corpse on his back lolled its head back. The bulging eyes seemed to be staring at the omnipresent cameras or perhaps the crowd behind the cameras.
Feeling a chill, the man with the knife pulled on his sleeves. “Boss, do you think Gao Ming is using the corpse on his back to spread the curse to all of us so that we’d share the pressure from the God of the Future for him? Ever since he entered Building Three, that corpse’s eyes have been following us. It’s like it knows about us.”
With a furrowed brow, Shen Tian closed his eyes to conduct a self-examination. The man with the knife turned his head away from the monitors.
…
Gao Ming was better at acting out his emotions than voicing them. When they neared the corridor, Xuan Wen still tried to struggle to get away from Gao Ming’s embrace. Her breathing became uneven, and her cheeks were red. More accurately, blood slowly appeared on her face and clothes. However, Gao Ming didn’t seem to see these.
“Come. Let’s go to the next room.” Xuan Wen actively grabbed Gao Ming’s hand for the first time to lead him away. This subconscious move proved many things.
“Wait.” Gao Ming didn’t leave immediately. He walked around the living room and bedrooms. He placed a few items on the altar table. “This couple loved their daughter. Compared to some random items, they wish to have stuff that carries the memories and scents of their daughter. I can’t reunite them for now, but I will do my best to help them.”
Seeing this and the black-and-white picture above the table, Xuan Wen’s emotions seemed to change again.
Gao Ming tightened his fingers assuringly around Xuan Wen’s hand. “Each of us fears the future, worrying about the worst that could happen. However, if a person is constantly living in fear and anxiety, they will never achieve the future that they want to see.” Sensing a squeeze back from Xuan Wen’s fingers, Gao Ming stopped elaborating. He understood many things, but he didn’t expose them. “Let’s go upstairs.”
The clock on the wall moved slower. The clock face was like a scarred face. It leaked out horrible-smelling blood. Echoes of curses floated out of it.
The two explored the higher floors. The future was still sliding towards the worst ending. However, Xuan Wen started to view Gao Ming differently. To create Gao Ming’s worst future, the God of the Future injected many unfamiliar memories into Xuan Wen’s soul. This was how it made her understand everything about Xuan Wen. However, as she spent more time with Gao Ming, she realised there was indeed someone in the world who knew Xuan Wen better than she knew herself.
Gao Ming was familiar with everything about Xuan Wen, from her eating habits to her personality flaws. They seemed to have lived together for a long time. They were best friends and war partners.
From Gao Ming, ‘Xuan Wen’ got to experience a sensation similar to her parents’ love. This made ‘Xuan Wen’ even wish that… she was the real Xuan Wen.

As the rooms rolled by, the despair thickened. However, Gao Ming was not affected. It was as if, as long as he was still holding Xuan Wen’s hand, there was no hurdle that they couldn’t overcome.
However, it was because of this that ‘Xuan Wen’ started to get worried. Once a person found a mental anchor, then they would have a weakness. The God of the Future would kill her in the end to sink Gao Ming into despair.
Pain and anguish caused veins to pop on Xuan Wen’s neck. She wasn’t even paying Gao Ming any attention. Her brain was dominated by pain.
Gao Ming paused and slowly turned his head back to look at Xuan Wen’s pale and tired face. He stood in the dark. The clock ticked. The air almost froze.
‘Xuan Wen’s heart tore further being stared at by Gao Ming.
“I remember it was an afternoon…” Gao Ming’s eyes were washed with darkness.
Was he sharing a memory between him and Xuan Wen? Did he discover something? Or has he known all along? ‘Xuan Wen’ was scared, but she also felt relief. She let go of the hand that didn’t belong to her. ȐÁŊΟ𝖇Εṣ
“I went to an aquarium, but I left in a rush.”
“???”
Gao Ming held Xuan Wen’s hand back. “I was so scared because the place was so fishy.”
Even a ghost’s soul would tremble from awkwardness from a horrible dad joke. ‘Xuan Wen’s toes curled together in her shoes. However, the pain in her mind did subside. Her mouth opened, but she didn’t know what to say.
With a dry cough, Gao Ming continued to move forward. The strange siren rang again. It was louder than before. Even if Gao Ming wanted to pretend to ignore it, he couldn’t.
They moved towards the source of the siren. Before they entered the room, he smelled the pungent scent of blood. He pushed open the door. A young man wearing a white student council badge hanged in the middle of the room. His body was uncoordinated. His limbs were stitched together by different human body parts.
“Be careful. He has been made into a corpse puppet.” The worry in Xuan Wen’s eyes became more pronounced. This was the handiwork of the God of the Future.
Seeing Gao Ming, the boy started to struggle. However, a very familiar voice came out of his mouth.
“Gao Ming, you have to die so many times to kill me. However, I’ve returned. Do you dare to play a fair game with me?”
“Situ An?”
