House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 208: A Maiden II

(Third Person POV)

Throughout the night, House Targaryen's men scoured the city in search of any Trinity worshippers who could potentially be hiding the location of the Shrine. They ripped apart the Street of Silk and pulled several individuals aside for questioning.

For hours, the entire city was being stampeded by soldiers whose sole purpose was to uncover the truth. As this happened, the Red Keep was shut down by Septon Barth, who claimed was acting under the orders of King Jaehaerys. While Jaehaerys did not know of this at first, he dismissed the action and approved it when he was informed of it.

He shared the same sentiment as Barth but did not see any use of acting with force, thinking that Drakken's retaliation would simply result in destruction and bloodshed. Despite all of this, Jaehaerys had been devising a plan that would spare the Realm from a full-out war.

And this was a plan that he kept from his Hand, knowing that there would be no approval from the Faith.

Inside the Red Keep, Alyssa Targaryen and her sister, Viserra, were in the latter's chambers, discussing some things.

Viserra kept her door closed as she looked at her sister, who sat in the couch, "We should be fine." She said, "Nobody will suspect us."

"Baelon knows." Alyssa told her

"He will not tell anyone. I am sure of it." Viserra walked over to her, "But we do need to keep this from the rest of our Family. There is a lot of tension, I can feel it."

"I don't understand, Viserra..." Alyssa said as her sister sat next to her, "Why would you do this?"

The Young Princess sighed, "I...." she said, "I don't know. The thing is.....I have a curiosity....about what our purpose in this life is....."

"What?" Alyssa frowned, "What are you talking about?"

"You would not understand." Viserra said softly, "You are married to Baelon, you are kept inside the Family. Maegelle, Daella, Saera, and I....I do not think we were supposed to be kept here. Daella married Aemon because of what happened to our aunt....but....the truth is....we are just daughters....Princesses, yes....but just daughters. Our Fates are just to be married off for political gain. I was going to choose no suitors that night...but when I saw what happened, Drakken bringing that man back to life...."

Alyssa blinked, "You became curious?"

Viserra nodded, "I thought to myself; 'How can someone with so much power walk around and not be called a god'. I really was perplexed...." She said, "But the truth is that everyone rejects the idea of him being a god....because those who worship the Faith or any other god are convinced that they are gods because they don't reveal themselves to us. The possibility of them not existing is thrown out the window because they believe that they don't show themselves for a reason."

"Right..." Alyssa said

"And here is an individual with so much.....power...." Viserra continued, "With the power to control life and death.....and we call him a Monster? We call him a Vile Sorcerer? No. He truly is one....a god....The Dragon God of War and Death...."

"I was approached by a young knight of this keep." Viserra said softly, "He is loyal to the Trinity."

"What? The Trinity has influence here?" Alyssa whispered, shocked to hear that

Viserra nodded, "Yes." She said, "The thing is.....a priest has been embedded into the city, to convert people to the Trinity. I met with him, he allowed me to convert, to join the Trinity. I was dubbed a Dragon Maiden.....This...hunt....it is all part of the plan."

Alyssa frowned, "What do you mean?" She asked, "He wants this to happen? And what does that mean, a Dragon Maiden?"

"I am a Maiden...and I am to stay a maiden." Viserra said, "For the sake of the Trinity, he says. And I am also a Targaryen, our blood has draconic power, as you are already aware. He believes that Drakken will be pleased with this."

"I see...." Alyssa said, "It....kinda makes sense..."

"And the hunt is part of the plan because blood is required." Viserra told her

"Blood?" Alyssa frowned, "A sacrifice?"

"Yes. The Trinity is bound by blood." Viserra told her, "The Priest tells me it is solely due to the Blood Dragon that aids Drakken in his constant inquisitions. Or something of that matter....a Blood Dragon who was created by Lord Drakken's power, the one responsible for all the sacrifices."

"And the hunt...." Alyssa said, a bit taken aback by this

"The Faith will create that sacrifice for the Trinity." Viserra whispered, "It is all a trap. Those who are wrongly accused of being worshippers of Lord Drakken will be slaughtered. And their blood will fill the streets and begin the ritual."

"The Ritual will fuel the Shrine for The Trinity's power."

(Drakken's POV)

"Ohh~" Saera bit my earlobe as she lay on my chest, "That was magnificent....the way you switched between Daranne and I....simply magnificent...."

I nodded, "Right."

I glanced to the side, seeing that Daranne was asleep, her head resting on my arm as she was fully nude. Last night, I had the two of them at the same time at Saera's request. It appeared that Saera Targaryen did not mind in partaking with another woman and Daranne was rather surprised by this.

But none of that matters.

I felt it.

The Ritual in King's Landing was about to begin. It appears that Ezra has baited the Faith to act, which is going along nicely with our plans.

"How much blood will we shed, My Love?" Saera licked the side of my face, "How long until everything and everyone bends to our will?"

"I don't know." I said, "But know that it will happen."

"The Crownlands need to be cut off." Saera said, "The other regions will move against you and full-out war will break out. That is what you want, isn't it?"

"Yes." I said, "But everything requires a methodical patience."

"Of course." She said, "The women whose Houses opposed you.....let us rip them apart together...and we'll fuck on their corpses."

"That is...." I looked at her, "You are quite the maniacal woman, truth be told."

"I want you." She mounted me, "That is all."

"Power." I said, "You want that, don't you?"

"Yes." She said, "Is that so wrong? My sisters and I were denied dragons, because we would have been given to other Lords. And now that Maegelle and I are yours, that is another reason."

"Dragons?" Drakken raised an eyebrow, "Is that what you want?"

Saera smiled, "I don't care. Not anymore." She said softly as she blushed, "I have you."

"But if you were given the option, would you want a Dragon?" I grabbed her by the waist, "My Saera....."

"It would be nice." Saera said with a smirk, "Why?"

"That is what you shall have." I told her, "Both you and Maegelle are Targaryens. Dragons are your birthright, are they not?"

"I shall steal Dragon Eggs for you."
