How to Tame a Villain Character-Chapter 198: Before Divorce
Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Before Divorce
Several days had passed, news regarding the war centered in a remote region of the Godnation kingdom was getting hotter. As war time approached, Harry wanted to make the most of the opportunity to spend as much free time as possible on dates with his wife at their residence.
Even though soon Harry would go to war and they would officially divorce, Claudia tried to stay strong. Because for her it would be useless if she interfered in this problem which could only be solved by Harry. What Claudia was doing right now was just following Harry’s wishes. Moreover, Harry asked Claudia to stay at the palace as long as the situation was still not conducive. That was Harry’s last request to Godfrey.
"Harry, are you sure I can stay in the palace? Will the king really let you?"
"In fact, the king immediately agreed and praised my brilliant idea. In fact, he was very worried about you living alone even though you were accompanied by Sarah at all times."
"But, I still feel embarrassed living in the palace, even though I’m nothing." Claudia looked down while packing all the cosmetic equipment into a bag.
Harry spontaneously touched his wife’s shoulders with both hands. "You are a Duchess in this kingdom, Claudia. No, I mean the king wants you to stay in the palace for a while not because of the title you got, but because the king has loved you for a long time."
Claudia raised her head slowly. "Really? But, all this time he treated me normally."
"Even though he looks ordinary in front of you, he loves you very much as if he were his own child. Therefore, you must be confident while living in the palace. After all, your safety will not be guaranteed if you live alone in this house."
Still, Claudia still felt a lump in her heart because tomorrow she really had to separate from her husband who was ready to go to war. Her eyes started to fill with tears because she was increasingly worried about her husband’s condition while he was away at war. Can he come back safely or not?
"When do you think this war will end? If you’re gone too long, I’ll miss you."
"I’ll end it quickly so you can call me whenever you’re having a sweet dream."
Hearing her husband’s insults, Claudia laughed gracefully. "You can still tease me at a time like this."
"Because starting tomorrow I won’t be able to tease you anymore."
Claudia’s eyes were getting teary. "Stop it, Harry! If you keep saying sweet things, I won’t let you go to war."
Harry took Claudia’s hand for a moment, leading her to sit on the edge of the bed. "I will miss you while we are apart, Claudia."
"I’m increasingly unwilling to let you go. Why do you always make me want to cry? You’re so cruel."
For a moment, Harry’s eyes fell on the clock on the wall. "It’s already midnight, we should just sleep first."
"What if I don’t want to sleep?! I’m afraid that when I wake up tomorrow, I won’t be able to see your face!"
"Claudia..."
"Promise me first. When I wake up tomorrow morning, you still haven’t left."
Harry kissed his wife’s cheek briefly. "I promise. In fact, I want to say goodbye to you one last time. I want to do it in a proper way."
It doesn’t feel like time has passed quickly. Today is the day of separation for married couples who have been married for more than six months. As promised, Harry still wanted to say goodbye to his wife before going to war.
Harry’s appearance is already wrapped in a military uniform. He was busy wearing all his badges on his shirt, but seeing the dove brooch he always wore every day made his heart feel tight. For the first time he did not wear the brooch and put the brooch in a small box.
"You don’t want to wear that brooch?" Claudia asked while taking a small box.
"I don’t want my brooch to be lost during the war. Your brooch is too beautiful, you should keep it for me."
Claudia laughed awkwardly. "This is the first time I’ve heard of someone protecting a brooch as if they were protecting their life partner."
A pair of eyes glanced at each other with an intense gaze. Harry picked up a piece of dust that was stuck to the top of his wife’s head. Seeing that the smile his wife was currently showing was a fake smile, he felt increasingly unable to bear to leave his wife alone, even though he had asked many people for help to protect his wife.
"Claudia, I am very happy as long as I am your husband. You always encourage me every day and you are the first person to think of me as a human."
"I am also very happy to be your wife, Harry. Even though when I first met you you were very indifferent, you always loved me sincerely."
Harry narrowed his eyes. "Didn’t you always say I was cruel?"
"I will withdraw my words. Anyway, you are the best husband in my life."
In a moment Harry took out two small envelopes from the desk drawer. Then, he gave the two envelopes to Claudia.
"What’s this?" Claudia asked, looking at the envelope in confusion.
"After the war ends, I want us to watch a musical together." Harry kissed the back of his wife’s hand for a few seconds. "I want us to start from the beginning. I want to treat you better."
"Harry..."
"I’ve promised you before. I want to take you to see a musical together. Thomas has taken the trouble to book exclusive class tickets just for us."
"Harry... please."
Harry kissed his wife’s soft cheek for a few seconds. "Even though we are divorced, I will marry you, Claudia. I want you to always be my wife forever."
Claudia couldn’t stop her tears from flowing freely down her cheeks. "You’re so cruel. You proposed to me the day we parted."
For a moment, Harry took off his ring and then put it in the envelope containing tickets to a musical performance. "I can’t wear our rings during the war. I want you to keep them well."
"I will definitely look after all your things while you are away. So, promise me, come back safely."
With a look full of love, Harry wiped the tears streaming down his wife’s face. "For the first time, I dared to say these words after I had kept them in for a long time." He landed his lips on her red lips for a few seconds. "I love you, Claudia."
