Chapter 31: Goodbye

I went back upstairs to my room, of course Reika decided to join me again. It wasn’t a big deal to share a bed with her but it definitely felt strange.

Regardless I climbed into bed and she joined me without any sort of hesitation.

Typically I don’t think I’d continue to share a bed with someone if I wasn’t dating them but this is fine for the time being. It is kind of comforting to be next to her, just I’d like to know more about her.

Why is she so comfortable with sharing a bed with me already when we hardly know each other? We’ve been working together but that’s about it.

Dad would tell me not to worry about it since a girl is choosing to share a bed with me, but it just seems odd. Whatever.

The night passes us by once again as I wake up to her laying on my chest, almost like it is a normal thing. It didn’t matter since I took the time to get up out of bed without waking her.

I prefer to stay in shape so I started to do some pushups and then some situps before she finally woke up. 100 of both to stay in peak condition.

Being able to stay physically in shape will make a difference in hand to hand fights if I ever encounter them. Most people don’t get into them much unless they run out of ammo or their metal malfunctions.

But we did have a bit of a fight with that frog guy and that wasn’t all steel. That guy really did bruise up my arms pretty good with that damn punch of his.

I still never got to figure out what gang he is associated with but it doesn’t matter.

"Good morning." Reika said before letting out a yawn.

"Morning. I’d say it is a good time to get going." I responded while standing back up.

"Yeah, it would probably be the best idea." Reika said in agreement.

We cleaned up a bit before heading down to the vehicles since appearances do tend to matter. I gave her the keys to the sports car while I took the keys to the truck.

"You know the address still?" I asked her curiously.

"Yes I do. I’m assuming you know where to go as well since you’re asking." Reika answered with a smile.

"I’ve got it memorized. Let’s get going then." I said with confidence.

I waited until she got in the sports car and then I got into the truck. Everything was hooked up to the truck so I just needed to follow behind Reika.

Goodbye to this old headquarters... Goodbye to Karma.exe.

At least Karma did its best while it was around, but it is time for a new gang to rise to the top. Lotus/9 is going to hate to see me coming.

Just like Vantablade, they’ll be wiped out next. Any gang after that will also know of Kuroten. I won’t hesitate in killing those who oppose me since it will show that I can’t be f*cked with.

Corporations won’t be safe either once I’m well equipped and ready to handle them. Everything in Kairox will be ran by Kuroten if it is the last thing I do.

But the drive to Lauriel street wasn’t too bad, I could see relatively good looking buildings around it with no real bad people in sight. It kind of seems like an old business district in a way.

The people walking around also didn’t seem to be gang members from the look of it but looks can be deceiving.

Old gangs would always be dressed up nice because they used to believe in class. It was what made them stand out amongst the filth of the world.

I’d like to believe that I’ll be dressing up quite nicely now as well, I don’t want to look like the average street scum. These clothes will do me better when I’m doing some stealth operations.

Even then I don’t think it’ll matter if I wear something nice for those kinds of missions since no one will really see me.

We’ll see how I’m feeling about it later on.

For now, figuring out who the big boss of Kairox is would be the best idea. Building up Kuroten and figuring that out are the most crucial things right now.

At least I’ll know who I’m going after when I’m ready.

A few hours of unloading passed the inside of the building was quite nice. It wasn’t really worn down and it seems like the landlords were keeping up with it previously.

So it had plenty of space to setup the computers and even start the setup of the armory. It was the perfect size for a big gang and we could always expand.

Lots of rooms with space for beds, lockers, everything.

"Reika I want you to figure out how to get us some free bedroom furniture for most of the rooms." I said while looking around the room itself.

"I already got things ordered. It was something I had to do before so it wasn’t hard to figure out." Reika replied with a bit of happy tone in her voice.

I gave her a pat on the head before heading over to the computers. They seem to be wired into the network already so there was no need to worry about that.

The network itself isn’t hard to stay on, it is usually just security that poses the biggest problem. Luckily Reika is really good when it comes to handling tech like this so I don’t really need to be worried about it right now.

It’ll only be a problem if a better player enters the game, one that wants us to be exposed.

But it is kind of a rare trade to be good with the network like Reika is. Most fail to get past the most basic of firewalls so it is definitely a rare to find anyone like her.

I just forget what they call people like them.
