The attack was widespread now. Damon and Aila still watched the news, watching the public give their opinions outside of the live commentary. It was all pretty much the same. They couldn’t believe these hunters had attacked the werewolves.

Many spoke up, saying they believed the werewolves were defending themselves, and only a few backed the humans who attacked Alpha Damon and Luna Aila. They expressed their views that although the attack was uncalled for, it also revealed the werewolves’ strengths and how much more powerful they were to humans.

The news also picked up on the fact that the targets in question were indeed the Alpha King and Queen of the North.

The Hunters Association then provided their own report to the news. Chase Hunt was again in front of the press, looking smart in a suit without a tie, hair pulled back out of his face, and a five-clock shadow that revealed his sharp bone structure more.

He claimed that the men in the video used to be a part of the organisation but were kicked out for harbouring such hatred towards the supernatural creatures and their intentions of a cruel nature like what was shown in the videos.

Aila, Ajax and Finn scoffed at that and shared a look with each other. Damon didn’t need to tune into his mate’s emotions to know they were thinking the same thing. Up until the last few weeks, the Hunters Association were known for their hatred and cruelty.

Something like that didn’t just go away over a fortnight or so.

For now, while things are being dealt with, Damon is happy that their own, all of the supernatural creatures, were not speaking out about them. Maybe because they’d been in the dark for so long, remaining a secret, they’d rather not make themselves known to the public.

From what Harry and Aldric had told them from their recent trip, it was quite unstable outside the protection of the pack territories.

Just then, out of the corner of Damon’s eyes, he saw the white hair and blue eyes of the Vampire King. Gabriel came to stand behind Ajax and glanced at the TV with an amused expression. Esme sauntered in after him, her expression hard and like she was ready for battle.

Gabriel reached out, his eyes still on the screen as his hand slid in behind Esme’s tiny waist and left a chaste kiss on her head. He walked to lean his hands against the sofa’s back behind Damon and Aila, eyes still locked on the screen. The recordings returned with the commentary both from the online viewers and the reporter, which was more in favour towards the werewolves who had been attacked.

"Well done," Gabriel purred, sounding proud with a smirk pulling on his lips.

"This was not intentional," Aila muttered. Damon could feel her displeasure at being congratulated by the vampire. He pulled her closer to his body in a comforting manner. Usually, she would rest her head on his chest, but she was tense and worried.

Until they had their meeting with the other leaders of each supernatural faction, Damon knew his mate would feel tense. That was why he wanted to take her mind off of things this weekend. He was concerned, but there was no point worrying and stressing. Each leader wanted what was best for their kind, and whatever the outcome won’t be revealed until the meeting.

"The public is going in your favour. That is exactly what we need, and it will help with the meeting tomorrow," Gabriel said, his words aligning with what Aila was thinking about. The vampire was probably reading her thoughts.

Esme was next to lean against the sofa, her smaller frame using her arms and chest to relax into the cushion as she hovered over them. "They’re looking like the bad guys here, and the public is aware of it now," she added to make their point clear. "Don’t stress. Take each step as it comes."

Wise words for a rogue she-wolf. Damon glanced at her and then felt Gabriel’s stare, so he looked away. Aila nodded and smiled up at Esme; he could feel the warmth and friendship she felt towards the rogue even though Esme was a newer acquaintance with a questionable past.

Aila’s attention snapped to her phone that vibrated at the other end of the sofa. It was in between some cushions from where she had left it. She picked it up, and he looked over her shoulder nonchalantly, reading Chase’s messages to her.

He was apologising about these guys and planned on tracking the two that had not been found yet. He knew their full names, their families and where to find them, but of course, they knew this as well and were on the run.

"If he doesn’t get to them, we will. Either way, Chase better know that this warrants their deaths," Damon growled into the side of her neck, inhaling her scent at the same time.

"Maybe we should get some pictures done of them. It doesn’t have to be the hunters or our packs looking for him." Aila leaned her head back then and looked up at Gabriel, a twinkle in her eyes.

Gabriel tilted his head to the side. "Are you asking for my help, Alpha Queen?" He sounded amused while his expression was thoughtful.

Aila was coming a long way from when she was first rescued from the hunters, and it was gradually showing more and more.

"Bring it up tomorrow in the meeting," he added. "This isn’t about only us anymore. It involves everyone."

Aila nodded at that.

"The hunter is chained up and ready for you," Zeke mind-linked the Alpha-Luna pair. They glanced at each other before standing.

"Where are you going?" Ajax asked as they started towards the corridor.

"We need to have a little chat with an ex-hunter," Damon said in a cold voice.

"Can I come? My techniques might work better," Gabriel smirked as he pushed away from the sofa and started rolling up his sleeves.

Aila watched him from behind her and arched an eyebrow. "Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that."

"No.. HE will hope it doesn’t come to that," Gabriel rephrased it. "Es, are you coming, amica mea?"

Esme waved them off. "I’m quite happy hanging here. I’m sure you can praise each other on your torture methods without me."

Gabriel chuckled at that, and the trio left the others in the living room and started heading towards the basement. Somehow Damon was still surprised to find the rogue she-wolf nonchalant about such matters. Gabriel was quite cold-blooded, but then again if they were mates there was a reason for it.

Once they were in the basement, Aila was the first to get started. Gabriel ended up removing her from the process because of the blood lust of her vampiric self and the rage she held onto from what he and his friends had done. Whether the public was in favour of the supernatural kind or werewolves alone, these ex-hunters still attacked their hometown, the innocent bystanders and their pack members.

Although it was a little bloodthirsty, Damon couldn’t be prouder. Aila was the Silver Crescent pack’s Luna, and nobody hurt her pack and got away with it.
