I am a Big Player-Chapter 64 - That year I was 16_1
Chapter 64: That year I was 16_1
Chapter 64: That year I was 16_1
I started getting into e-sports when I was 16, during an era dominated by 3C Chenghai and Warcraft.
In that era
there were no high prize monies
only small internet cafe competitions
where winning meant 200 yuan in internet fees.
I got into Dota at the age of 18
and had teammates Little Fatty, Run God, Liu Fei, and Kang
We were poor
Everyone was poor
Drinking 2.5 yuan bottles of Nongfu Spring water every day
5 yuan chicken noodle soup for a meal, exceptionally salty.
The era of Dota had many touching moments, like playing 4 supports to 1 core, like Run God playing support for me for three whole years.
Back then in the ladder ranking, if I were to solo queue that day, people would ask me, “Where’s your support?”
My support is now hustling in SH.
That year, I ranked in the top 100, undefeated in Shadow Fiend solo matches on the Netcom server for half a year.
So I say, I hate that I cannot dream back to eight years ago and walk the path of e-sports once more.
I have many dreams, e-sports, writing novels, extreme sports. Many, many more.
My Weibo bio has stayed the same for three years, “Once dreamed of writing novels but ended up farther and farther on the HR path as a fatty.”
My career isn’t a failure, I’ve been HR specialist, HR manager, HR director, and head of Human Resources.
But that’s not what I wanted.
My colleagues say I’m too willful, but I feel that’s how it should be. Who said life has to be smooth and steady, right?
To fulfill my e-sports dream, I wrote “League of Legends: Catastrophe Era,” and it was exhilarating; sometimes, I even felt I was Lv Chen.
To get a taste of extreme sports, I nervously started “I am the Big Player.”
It wasn’t just about the thrill of extreme sports, but about a dreamer like me giving myself a different life in dreams.
Giving myself a heated existence, a glorious love, a chance to pretend to start over.
Some say Big Player is not good, not as good as Catastrophe, Ren He isn’t as lowly as Lv Chen, what’s so fun about extreme sports?
But I just want to have fun, have a blast!
Of course, the slow unveiling of Yang En’s identity is destined to involve more than sports, but the same kind of struggle as in Catastrophe. All in all, those are stories I find interesting.
I hope one day I can change my Weibo bio with pride, no longer a fatty going farther away but a renowned author who can talk through his elbows.

The day before yesterday, I joked with Little Fatty, saying, “Once I become a god, I’ll support you guys, and we’ll form a veteran’s team to compete in the Dota TI7 finals!”
Some mocked, “You think too big, becoming a god? That takes talent.”
But I’ve taken this step already, no reason to turn back now.
Once again, thanks to everyone for their support, whether for Catastrophe Era or Big Player.
Thank you!
