I Am Not A Goblin Slayer-Chapter 347 - 227: Scouting the Goblin Lair (Part 4)
In Gauss’s eyes, the tracks were quite obvious, but to them, it seemed just like any ordinary forest. The nest was so hidden that even with intent to find it, it would be hard to locate despite spending a lot of manpower and resources.
Thinking of this, he looked at Gauss, feeling a bit grateful in his heart; indeed, professional matters should be left to the professionals.
This Adventurer master simply strolled leisurely through the forest and pinpointed the nest’s location; although he did not know exactly how it was done, he still felt admiration.
Gauss had already "seen" the internal situation through the Clay Spider that snuck into the goblin nest.
The number of goblins inside was more than what was mentioned in the quest information, already nearing forty, not counting the goblin infants sprawled on the ground like little puppies, crawling and playing around.
He pressed his lips together, slightly concerned about this.
Of course, what concerned him wasn’t the sheer number of goblins itself.
To him, forty goblins compared to twenty made no difference, in fact, it’s a good thing; it would significantly speed up his progress in accumulating kills. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
But... for an average Bottom Adventurer Squad, this difference mattered.
A group of forty goblins meant the existence of a more powerful leader, a more organized social relation and division of labor, allowing them to display battle strength double of what’s expected.
Thus, a Bottom Adventurer Squad that could have defeated a settlement of twenty goblins, facing the doubled goblins, might suffer heavy casualties or even total annihilation.
Since when did the accuracy of quest information become this poor?
It’s unlikely that after the quest was posted, this group of goblins recruited a large number of new members, right?
Gauss clicked his tongue but couldn’t determine if this was an isolated case or if there was another reason.
From what he heard, behind the grand machine of the Adventurer’s Guild lies a magnificent prophecy magic machine and intelligence spell network system as support. We can regard this system as a large magic ritual; upon receiving a quest request, every branch submits information to the provincial headquarters, confirming accuracy through the prophecy and intelligence system’s power.
Most tasks within human-controlled territories have a fairly trustworthy level of accuracy.
"Mr. Gauss, now is..." The lumberjack worker was nervously curious when he saw Gauss remain silent.
"It’s nothing. I’m thinking about something else." Gauss refocused on the mountain hollow before him. "Stand behind me."
Another two Clay Spiders brought a Clay Goblin quickly rushing past him.
This time, the lumberjack uncle clearly saw, looking at the "white monster" appearing out of nowhere, his eyes widened, and his legs subconsciously started to tremble.
"Don’t worry, it’s my magic."
Gauss waved his hand.
Under his control, three Clay Spiders blocked another escape exit of the goblin nest.
The Clay Goblin swaggered to the entrance covered by vines and branches.
With its strong arms, the vines were instantly ripped away.
Light immediately spilled into the mountain hollow through the suddenly opened entrance.
The goblin group, which had received scout news, was preparing weapons and turned their heads alertly towards the entrance upon hearing the commotion.
Dozens of eyes looked at the somewhat familiar yet strange figure.
"Eek!!"
Seeing the alien goblin that was more robust and had pure white color, yet otherwise identical to them, many green-skinned goblins fell into deep confusion.
The two closest goblins even took two steps closer proactively.
Making sounds of inquiry.
"Bang!!!"
Before they could react, the white goblin stomped its foot, rushing forward rapidly, delivering a vicious slap with a tearing sound to a goblin’s head.
The negotiating unlucky goblin’s head exploded like a smashed watermelon, red and white splattering everywhere.
The other goblin wasn’t spared either; the white goblin, right after smashing the head, had another hand like an iron claw tightly gripping its throat, lifting it kicking in the air. With a click, its head tilted to one side at an odd angle, and its body fell limply.
Instantly killing two goblins!
This sudden intra-species slaughter and terrifying power stunned all the goblins in the mountain hollow, plunging the air into a brief silence.
The next moment, immense chaos, fear, and anger erupted!
"Gaa!!!"
"Eek yay yay!!!"
Some goblins were terrified by this mysterious kin’s frightening power and instinctively retreated, while others, upon reacting, picked up weapons, wary of the white goblin, especially a much smaller goblin wearing relatively clean robes, the goblin Shaman who roared furiously, waving his Wooden Staff, calming his kin while signaling his minions to besiege this "aberration."
Under the illumination of his spell’s light, the surrounding goblins instantly rallied their spirits, suppressing fear and unease.
"Woo wah wah!!"
The goblins wielding close combat weapons charged at the white goblin in formation, while others with bows and arrows climbed the mountain hollow’s high platforms on either side, aiming at the white goblin.
