I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 30 First Spouse
The Auslan Empire was hereditary, and Emperor Gorba III Leberli from the Deer Beastman was the most moderate of his lineage, handling everything with minimal effort and passing off any real decisiveness or attitude required onto others.
Yet it was this very emperor of the empire who was unexpectedly active and decisive regarding reproductive issues.
At that moment, in the main hall of the Imperial Court.
Emperor Gorba III warmly invited Qiao Suisui to sit and after making some small talk, he ventured, "How did you come to know Little Sikoses?"
"I was rescued by Ruka when I was auctioned by an underground organization," she replied.
"Oh..." Gorba III nodded, though he had already investigated everything about Qiao Suisui; he was only using this as a way to stir a conversation. "He is a good boy, not as stubbornly old-fashioned as Old Sikoses. Taking him as a spouse is quite worthy of you," he commented.
"Ruka... isn’t he the Princess’s intended spouse?" she asked.
With a kindly smile, the person on the throne said, "He has already clarified this to me; he said that he would not marry Isabella."
The day Zong Fang took the child away, Ruka, despite his severe injuries, refused to leave for treatment. He first arranged for his family and the Leberlis to look after Suisui, then he went to see the emperor to request the annulment of his betrothal to the princess. He knew he would be in the medical tube for many days, and many tricky issues remained unresolved, like the whereabouts of Zong Fang and the child, but more problematic was his relationship with Isabella; would it embarrass Suisui? He was heartbroken for her, so he didn’t want to leave a mess for her to face alone. He was also concerned about her adapting to the Imperial Court, especially since she had just given birth and was physically weak. Knowing the interest Leberli had in her, he still instructed him to take good care of her.
"...However, this isn’t something that can be allowed just like that..."
After saying this, Gorba III looked at Qiao Suisui with a meaningful smile.
"Everything has a price. Although Isabella isn’t as precious as you, she is a high-ranking Artificial Female produced after several hundred failures; moreover, Ruka was the spouse candidate Old Sikoses and I chose for her. How could it simply be overturned?"
After listening, Suisui’s thoughts raced. The emperor had summoned her today, and it seemed most likely related to her. She had thought it was out of a fatherly love that he would let her move away from Ruka, but now it seemed not to be the case.
"If Ruka insists on not marrying the princess, what would happen to him?" she asked.
"He would still be a member of the Sikoses family, but he would no longer be a colonel in the Empire Military Department. After all, I originally allowed him to join the military to give him a chance to be worthy of the Empire’s princess. Now that he is going back on his word, the honors that belonged to him will henceforth become a stain. Of course, the Sikoses family will also not be able to hold their heads high because of this," he explained.
Suisui lowered her gaze, her long eyelashes obscuring the thoughts in her eyes. Seeing her bow her head, Gorba III thought his veiled threat was effective and kindly added fuel to the fire.
"You needn’t feel sorry, after all, Ruka gave up his bright future for the female he loves. No matter how I deal with him, he won’t hold a grudge. But what about you? Do you intend to marry Ruka?" he asked.
Qiao Suisui disliked the coercive feeling of being pushed into a corner. When it came to the matter of a spouse, neither Ruka nor Ash were her chosen ones. She knew of Ruka’s engagement even when she met him, and although she maintained her boundaries, she always felt like she was stealing something that didn’t belong to her during their interactions.
Although she could not influence Ruka’s choice, one thing she was sure of was that she did not want to watch him lose his honorable pride. The badge he had casually given her was always well-preserved by Suisui, as she intuitively believed it was extremely important, and perhaps even symbolized the life-and-death experiences he had in the Military Department over the years.
The pressure of potentially ruining Ruka’s future for her sake was suffocating. If they really ended up together in the future, this incident would also be an unspeakable burden on their relationship.
So even though Qiao Suisui clearly knew that the Emperor was using Ruka to bait her with ulterior motives, she had no choice but to follow his lead.
"I hope Ruka and the Princess can end their relationship, and he will not suffer any consequences. Just state your terms," she said.
"You are very smart," Gorba III laughed, his eyes twinkling with a hint of genuine amusement. "Rest assured, I won’t harm you; in fact, it might even turn out to be a good thing for you."
Qiao Suisui remained silent, her dark eyes quietly observing the person before her.
"Marry my son and bear his offspring. I promise your children will become successors to the Sun," he proposed.
Gorba III had three sons and one daughter, all genetically incubated. Genetic incubation was incredibly expensive and generally had a low success rate. Typically, males were easier to incubate, and if the paternal genes were more prevalent, the offspring tended to be superior; however, females were difficult to hatch, with maybe one successful case in ten, because the maternal genes themselves were from Artificial Females, whose genes often lacked a specific chain of information, rendering them incomplete and thus the high failure rate.
The extent of resources and numbers dedicated behind such a configuration of three sons and one daughter was unimaginable.
Qiao Suisui was taken aback, not expecting this to be his plan.
She had heard from Ash that he was just one of the less notable members of the Royal Family, and that Gorba III was his uncle, holding a rather idle position within the Royal Family. His three sons were different, however; the eldest son held a significant position in the Federation FBI and hardly ever returned, so it wouldn’t be him; the second son was an unmentionable entity, currently banished from Auslan and rumored to have joined the Wandering Alliance; that left only the youngest son, about the same age as Ash.
"Are you suggesting Lanze Leberli become my spouse?" she asked.
"Exactly," he affirmed.
Gorba III lifted his chin with a hint of pride as he mentioned his youngest son.
"Lanze has always been my preferred successor. Although his spiritual power is only A-level, his Talent is unprecedented in our family. I believe you and he, when united, will have a bright future. If you marry him, you won’t have to fear Zong Fang or the Federation deporting you back to Soter. You can rightfully stay and become a member of the Auslan Royal Family. As for Little Sikoses…"

His eyes narrowed slightly, making it difficult for Suisui to tell whether he was smiling or scheming.
"...you could also marry him, but the position of First Spouse must belong to the Leberli Family."
Upon hearing this, Qiao Suisui lowered her gaze, her expression calm, seemingly pondering something, thus she did not notice the flicker of a robe that passed by outside the main hall.
