I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 292: Political Affairs
"How have you been, my apprentice?" Siderius smiled.
"I have been training hard, Master."
Her eyes glanced over to Rea behind her. "Who is this, Master?"
"This is Rea. A very capable seed that I intend to make as my apprentice."
Ashe widened her eyes. She knew how difficult Siderius could be. If he wanted to take Rea in, there must be something really special about her.
"It’s a pleasure to meet you, I am Ashe Costeau."
"Hello, Ashe. I have heard a lot about you. I am Rea of Avadine."
Siderius lets the girls get to know each other. He first visited George in his blacksmith workshop. He immediately noticed many Dull Steel Blade hanging around in the workshop.
Even without Iron Blood, George was able to make a lot of high quality Dull Steel. It was incomparable to Blazing Soul but wasn’t that far off.
George dropped his hammer when he saw Siderius.
"My lord! You have returned!"
"How have you been, George?"
"I am very good, my lord. Have you seen the defense I built?"
"Very impressive. If we were attacked, our enemies wouldn’t have that good of a time."
George laughed from the compliment. He felt good when having a lord this appreciative.
"I saw that your skill has improved greatly."
"Yes, my lord. Even with animal blood, I can consistently create a very high quality Dull Steel.
The miner had also found what you’re looking for my lords. The ores needed for the higher grade of steel."
"Oh? Let me see."
George took out a piece of silvery metal from his cabinet. It lacked the shininess of silver and looked much heavier. When George placed it on the table, it created a heavy thug sound that silver couldn’t make.
Siderius reached his hand out and touched the surface of the metal.
"Asimium. People often mistake this type of metal with silver. But it is its own type. If we have the remaining components, we can try to create Strong Steel."
George shared a big smile and said, "Nadia has found the remaining elements my lord. Chromium, Manganese, Silicon, and a few other materials. They are much more common than Asimium. We have everything needed for the process, my lord."
"If that’s the case, we can start to make our first Strong Steel then. But I need to check on the barony first."
"Of course, my lord."
After visiting George, Siderius held a meeting in his office. All the important people of Snowfell were summoned.
George the Steward. Nadia the Bailiff. Henry the Warden. Roland the Advisor. Even Tanya the Herbalist was also presented.
Ashe stood and Rea stood beside Siderius.
"Have the Arist Clan admitted completely?" Siderius said.
George and Roland stepped forward.
"They have been assigned a town, my lord. As for the details, Roland would know more about it than me."
"We arranged a very prosperous town for them, my lord. The name of the town was also changed to Arista, to reflect their status as ruler of the town. The Arist has also given us a large amount of wealth as their humble contribution." Roland said.
Siderius nodded. "What about foreign pressure? Did their enemy make any move toward us?"
"As of now. There is no provocation yet, my lord. Not physically or politically. Count Rufus seems to have ignored the Arist." Roland said.
"For now. Witches are very petty. They don’t make a move now doesn’t mean they won’t. Always be on your guard."
"Of course, my lord." Roland and George bowed.
"Nadia. You have done a great job in maintaining the mines. I have read the records. Our income is very consistent because of the ores."
"Thank you, my lord." Nadia bowed gently.
"As I promised, you can stop being a Bailiff. I will assign you as Lord Commander of the 1st legion. You can pick anyone you want and create your own troop."
Everything was so sudden that Nadia couldn’t believe what she heard. She quickly went down on her knees. "Thank you, my lord."
Siderius then turned to Roland and Henry. "I have other plans for you two."
The two former bandits looked at each other with puzzles in their eyes.
"Yes, my lord?"
"It’s time to reveal to you what I actually am. I am not a witch. I am a witch hunter. In my blood, magic does not flow. It flows anti-magic. I intended to break this kingdom by slowly gathering forces and one day wipe every single witch out of this kingdom.
Are you with me?"
Henry and Roland smiled. They fell to their knees. "Our lives are yours, my lord. We will kill any witch standing in your way."
Siderius nodded. "Now I will give you a choice. I like you two and I want to accept you as my apprentice. Ashe is my first apprentice. Roland will be second. Henry will be third.
Any objection?"
"There is none, Master." Henry said.
"You are my teacher from now on, Master." Roland said.
Siderius nodded. "Henry can pass his Warden role to anyone he sees fit. Once you choose a candidate, tell him to see me.
As for Roland, you can also pass on your role similar to Henry. But since the task of Advisor is lighter than Warden, you can also choose to continue this role. It’s all up to you."
"I will pick a helper, my lord and train him in case I am not present." Roland said.
Siderius nodded. "A very good solution. You will all train as witch hunters from now on. Henry’s body is already at his peak so he and Ashe should have no problem receiving their first mutation.
Roland and Rea will need to train for a little bit more."
Siderius then pulled Rea in the front. "This is Rea. She will be my fourth apprentice."
Rea blushed a little. She bowed to the rest of the people.
"Hello, little sister." Henry said.
"We are in the same clan now." Roland laughed.
Siderius then turned to Tanya. The herbalist was sweating in the beginning. She just heard in broad daylight that a lord of Eldoria was planning to attack his own kingdom.
"I guess it is too late for me to back out?" Tanya shared a crooked smile.
"You guess right. How are the herbs and plants?"
"I have found a way to make them survive in our infertile land, my lord. Anna is also a very quick learner. Give her a few more years and maybe she would be much greater than me." Tanya said.
Siderius nodded. "I will bring you with me and teach you how to make unique potions from those herbs. You and Anna both. You won’t be my apprentice because you won’t learn the hunter way from me. But you will also be my student. Any objection?"
Tanya sighed. She really didn’t want to get in the middle of all this political movement. But she had no other choice. She knew too much.
"No objection, teacher."
"Now, I want to talk to all of you about one important thing. We will be taking Scalize temporarily from its Baron."
