Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Armad Lake

Deep in the woods, Kruse ran as fast as he could. Someone told him that the lord of Snowfell was coming. He was a very powerful and ruthless witch.

He burned the one who framed him alive. A punishment that even other witches had to fear.

"Shit. Shit. Shit. I hope he doesn’t know I did it."

But he was already too late.

Siderius already spotted him. Silver Hawk appeared behind Siderius’ back as he reached his hand back and grabbed the sword.

Siderius held the bow in one hand and placed Silver Hawk onto it. The Transformation Seal on the sword lit up. The long silver sword turned into a thin silver arrow.

"Where are you going, little witch?" Siderius mumbled. He pulled the string back.

The arrow left the bow. It screamed in the air and shot at the back of Kruse. When it hit Kruse, it turned back into a sword.

The weight of the sword pinned Kruse onto a nearby tree. Blood flooded out his shirt and painted the silver sword red.

Kruse tried to push the blade out but it didn’t budge at all. He screamed in agony and in helplessness.

Siderius approached him. He raised his hand. The seal on the sword lit up and it detached itself from Kruse, flying back to Siderius, leaving a gaping bloody hole on Kruse’s back.

The sword landed nicely in Siderius’ palm.

Kruse fell to the ground.

"An unawaken witch? You dare cause trouble in my land?"

Kruse lifted his head up. His body shivered because of the pain.

"What’s the difference? You and your high title are no different than me. The Gray Death. The Tear Farm. You don’t think I know it?

You did it with permission. I didn’t. That’s the only difference!"

Kruse shouted as Siderius.

The hunter raised the sword and delivered a perfect horizontal strike that decapitated Kruse immediately.

"Now that’s where you’re wrong. I don’t need to Tear Farm. I am not a witch."

Siderius drew the Malevitus Extraction Seal on his palm and drained out all the Dark Aether inside Kruse.

"A small amount of a vast ocean. I will need much more to reach Gold Soul."

Siderius left the woods and returned to Wood’s End. Without Kruse, Penny should turn back to normal. But sometimes, she could become mindless. He needed to check up on her.

When he returned to Annabella’s house, there were many people there. Penny sat up in her bed eating porridge from a bowl that Annabella fed her.

"You’re good now. You’re fine. No one can hurt you anymore, Penny." Annabella comforted her.

"But I hurt you guys." Penny’s eyes welled with tears.

"It isn’t your fault. Lord Snow already know who did it. He must have dealt with the culprit. That is why you’re fine now."

Siderius pushed the door open.

"I did. He is dead."

"Lord Snow!"

Everyone stopped what they’re doing and quickly fell to their knees. Penny also tried to get up but Siderius stopped her.

"Please. No need to stand up. You’re still weak."

Siderius removed the Joker Mask and sat on Penny’s bed.

"How are you feeling?"

Penny stared at Siderius with wide opened eyes. She suddenly realized that it might be rude so she diverted her gaze away.

"I’m fine... my lord."

"I need to check something to make sure you’re fine. The witch might leave something bad in you."

"Of course, my lord. I am your subject. You can do anything with me."

Siderius nodded. He used Salt and Sulfur to drew a seal on Penny’s forehead.

Then he connected it with his True Vision to see if there was any curse left behind. Her body was as clear as a beautiful lake even though it was a bit weak.

"You’re fine now. All you need to do is just rest and recover."

"Thank you! Thank you, my lord! I don’t know how I can repay you."

"No need for repayment. I am your lord. A lord takes care of his people."

Siderius stood up and looked around. The situation in Wood’s End was much worse then he thought. Especially these people.

"What is going on here? Who are you?"

Annabella stepped forward and explained to Siderius about the orphans problem in Wood’s End.

"Since the opening of the Quest Office, everything became much better. We’re very grateful, my lord."

"What are you intending to do from now on?"

"Just trying to survive, my lord."

"This kingdom abandoned you. I will not.

What I see is a group of capable and resilient men and women. You are very strong. All of you are very strong.

Come to Santa Roberto and register as a soldier. The Warden and Lord Instructor would love to have you."

"Really, my lord? We can join you?" Annabella’s lips trembled.

"Aye. And we can fight alongside each other in the future. I need strong and resilient people like you."

"We will come to Santa Roberto as soon as possible, my lord."

With that, the event in Wood’s End had ended. A small inconsequential witch caused pain to one of his subjects. He couldn’t allow that. He gained a little bit of Dark Aether as well to use for his Truth-Seeking Path.

Siderius stayed in Wood’s End for a few more days before going back to the road.

The last location before he would set off to rescue Eli was the frozen lake in the far North.

It was in the intersection of many territories, his was one of them. It was called the Armad Lake. A lake that would freeze every single winter.

It was one of the way fishermen lived in the winter. The water surface froze but the fish still survived in the water below. The fishermen usually carved a hole on the ice surface and fished from there.

The Armad Lake was a few days’ journey from Wood’s End. Siderius didn’t encounter any interesting events on his way there. It was a peaceful journey.

When he arrived at the Armad Lake, most of the lake had defrosted, leaving only a few icebergs at the edge of the water surface. There were quite a few people there as well, mostly fishermen, hunters and travelers.

Siderius set up a camp nearby. He started the hunt by observing the environment first. His spy informed that there was a monster under the water and it attacked people all the time.

However, the people around didn’t seem that bothered by it. They rowed upon the lake as usual, even walking alongside the shore.

And then, it attacked.
