I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 320: Steel and Air
Siderius turned into a blur and shot at Varick.
The male witch clasped his hands together and formed a defensive steel shield in front of him. Unfortunately, his steel shield was as fragile as the last of the steel in this world.
With one strike, Siderius cut the steel shield in half.
"You?!" Varick widened his eyes.
He flew backwards, getting himself out of Siderius’ attack range.
"Going somewhere?"
Siderius drew <Piryo> quickly in the air. A wave of fire surged over Varick, burning him.
Varick continued to retreat. He rolled while flying and used the air to extinguish the flame on his body. The male witch tapped his clothes repeatedly to put off the flame.
Siderius landed on the branch then jumped again. He moved in the air by propelling himself from branches to branches. He turned into a blur arrow because of his sheer speed.
"What kind of witch even are you?" Varick hissed at Siderius.
He raised his palm against the hunter. A sharp steel tip emerged from his skin. Then an entire steel arrow was shot at Siderius.
The hunter jumped out of the way and went into a thick foliage, disappearing from Varick’s view. The steel arrow collided with a tree branch and exploded into countless metal bits, biting into the wooden bark.
Varick’s ears perked up as he heard some sort of high-pitched air noise.
"What is that?"
Siderius had slotted a bomb inside the sling for more power and range. He spun it quickly, gaining momentum. Then the hunter jumped out of a thick layer of leaves and flung the bomb at Varick.
Varick didn’t know what it was but he knew he did not want to get hit by that.
The male witch flew higher and avoided the bomb. The bomb exploded and a thick green smoke spread.
Varick coughed repeatedly. The smell made his stomach churn. It was the vilest smell he had even come across.
The witch covered the lower half of his face with his forearm.
"Disgusting!"
As he finished saying, Siderius slotted in more Toxic Bomb and threw at the surroundings, covering the entire environment in the thick putrid green smoke.
Varick didn’t dare to stay. He could feel the food climbing up his throat. The witch immediately pulled mana into his flying spell and quickly dashed away.
Siderius was waiting for him. The hunter flung a new bomb at him. This bomb was infused with Elemental Power. The same type that Siderius had engraved on Ashe’s Shrieking Swallow. However, this element was not air. It was water.
The bomb exploded right in front of Varick’s face. Siderius had estimated his escape route thoroughly.
Countless white dust floated in the air. The view was rather magical that it made Varick freeze for a split second.
Then all the white dust came alive and rushed at Varick. They stuck themselves onto him and forged crystalized structures. Varick was encased in a layer of ice and became much heavier than he used to be.
The male witch fell down. His entire body trembled because of the cold temperature.
Varick bit his lips and summoned his magic. Steel blades shot out from his skin, destroying the ice layer and allowed him to fly normally again.
Siderius timed Varick’s recovery with a <Dispellera>, disrupting Varick’s spellcasting.
His flight spell lost its effect and he fell down again. Varick reached his hand out and caught a tree branch, stopping himself from falling to his death.
"What kind of curse is this?" Varick had never seen magic that could disrupt magic. There was magic that counter magic. Like fire countered ice. But a spell that outright shut off another spell had never been used before.
Siderius rushed out from a thick foliage. He activated Exploded Impact and Exploded Speed again. He gained the strength and speed that no human could comprehend.
Especially with witches that didn’t care about training their body.
But Varick could feel his own demise. He shouted at the top of his lungs and used every bit of magic left in him to create a steel explosion.
A ball of iron formed around him and then they shot out to all directions. An incredible shockwave spread out.
Siderius opened his eyes wide. The vertical pupils constricted even further. He activated his Hunter Focus and Dynamic Vision.
Now he could estimate the distance of everything precisely and saw the trajectory of the steel pellets.
In mid-air, Siderius swirled the Silver Hawk, deflecting all the steel pellets from Varick while getting closer to him.
Everything happened in a blink of an eye.
Siderius jumped from a tree branch to Varick. Varick exploded into thousands of steel bits. Siderius as a black and white blur in the air did not slow down and went through the layer of steel.
When he landed again, his shiny Silver Hawk had tasted blood.
The hunter flicked the sword, splashing the blood on it to the ground. Varick fell down from above. His head and body were separated.
Both of them fell heavily on the high grass. Varick’s eyes opened wide. He didn’t even understand what had happened.
Siderius’ ears perked up. He could hear Varick’s soldiers rushing over from a mile away.
"Better act quick."
The hunter made his way down to the ground then grabbed Varick.
He exorcised Varick’s soul, preventing it from being raised or questioned by Necromancy. Then Siderius extracted all the Dark Aether inside Varick, leaving nothing but a pile of ashes and Varick’s clothes.
With <Piryo>, Siderius burned all the clothes as well.
The hunter whistled high. Red rushed back from afar, catching Siderius while he was jumping on it.
"Let’s get out of here, Red." They quickly disappeared from the scene.
A few minutes later. Varick’s soldiers rushed over.
"My lord?!" A soldier shouted.
"My lord, where are you?" Another shouted.
Going by horse was slower than flying, so Varick went first. He didn’t realize that it would be the beginning of his demise. If he hadn’t gone after Siderius, he’d have survived. Siderius didn’t intend to strike him down at all. He knew Red would outrun most of the average horses.
Varick chose wrong. And now no one would know why he disappeared.
