I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 598 - 596: The Price of Underestimating a Woman
Taking the finished designs over and handing them to Liliana Davis, Sally Dalton asked with a smile.
"Auntie, which one do you think looks better?"
Liliana Davis seriously looked at the two invitation card designs.
"They both look nice. If I had to choose, I’d go with the one below. I personally prefer something simpler." Returning the paper sample to Sally Dalton, her face was full of gentle affection. "Of course, my opinion is just for reference. It’s your and Nathan’s engagement party, so ultimately, you both should decide. When Nathan returns, you two can discuss it."
"Okay."
Sally Dalton responded with a smile.
As the two were chatting, Assistant Linda walked in. Liliana Davis caught her eye and gently patted Sally Dalton’s hand.
"You take your time; I won’t disturb you."
Sally Dalton nodded, and Liliana Davis walked over with Linda, exiting the study room and heading to the terrace before she spoke.
"What’s happened?"
"Someone is targeting you," Linda said in a low voice.
"Who?"
"That... I’m not sure," Linda shook her head gently. "However, I just received a call. Someone attempted to enter your office, and I assume they were trying to steal some data."
Liliana Davis crossed her arms and fell into thought.
"Could it be... the young master?" Linda asked softly.
Liliana Davis thought for a moment, then shook her head lightly.
Nathan Leafcastle had already destroyed all the data; he should have given up on this matter. It couldn’t be him.
"If my guess is correct, it should be those two!"
The other two candidates for the ministerial nomination were competing at this crucial moment when she was vying for the minister position. Both rivals might be targeting her.
"What do we do now?" Linda asked again.
"Go back to Singapore first. Keep me updated with any news. Once Nathan and Sally’s engagement is done, I’ll head back immediately." Liliana Davis took a deep breath. "I’m going to show them the cost of underestimating a woman."
"Alright, I’ll go pack now."
Linda nodded in acknowledgment and turned to leave for the stairs. Meanwhile, Sally Dalton had finished designing the invitation and was coming out. Seeing Linda rushing by, she couldn’t help but feel curious.
"What happened?"
"Nothing much. There’s some business in Singapore I asked her to handle," Liliana Davis waved lightly at Linda as she walked over to Sally Dalton’s side, watching the girl’s serene face, her eyes filling again with a smile. "I’ve been waiting for this day for years. Now, I truly can’t wait to see Nathan marry you."
"Auntie!" Sally Dalton’s cheeks blushed slightly.
"What’s there to be shy about!" Liliana Davis raised her hand to help straighten her hair. "By the way, do you have anything this afternoon?"
"Why?"
Liliana Davis’s smile faded a little. "I’ve spoken with Nathan over the phone. He’ll be back shortly. I want to take you and Nathan to visit his father’s grave."
Sally Dalton’s eyes showed a hint of surprise.
About Mr. Nathan’s father, she had heard Nathan Leafcastle talk about it. Mrs. Davis had always resented Mr. Nathan’s father, and during his funeral years back, she had adamantly refused to let him attend.
This time, for Liliana Davis to propose taking them to visit the grave together was indeed quite surprising to Sally Dalton.
"Mom!" At this moment, Nathan Leafcastle had already come upstairs. "What’s going on?"
Sally Dalton, seeing this, immediately turned to greet him, "Auntie said she wants to take us to Uncle Nathan’s grave!"
