Chapter 644: Chapter 644: Lip Kiss (2)

"Thank you, Aunt Lucille!" Kris Cooper said, raising his face. "Aunt Lucille, who handled this case?"

Lucille pulled over a chair and sat beside him. "Well, that’s quite the question. This case... Although I didn’t personally handle it, it was very high-profile at the time, and our superiors took it very seriously, so I did look into it a few times."

By now, Lucille had long since risen from her initial role as a squad leader in the criminal investigation team, step by step, to her current position as Chief; consequently, she no longer handled many matters personally.

"So... were there any suspicious points at the time?"

"Suspicious points?" Lucille raised an eyebrow slightly. "What are you referring to?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Kris Cooper’s gaze fell on Walter Wave’s photo in the case file. "Was it really a suicide?"

Lucille didn’t immediately answer. Instead, she fixed a serious gaze on Kris Cooper.

"Why do you ask this?"

There’s always a reason for things.

Kris Cooper had come to her personally to review Walter Wave’s case file; he definitely had his reasons.

Kris Cooper didn’t conceal anything from her.

"I want to know the truth."

"The truth?" Lucille pondered for a moment, then nodded slightly. "Wait a moment."

Taking her cell phone from her pocket, she dialed a number directly.

"Michael Freenan, please come to the archives room."

Not long after, a man in his thirties, looking quite sharp and capable and dressed in plain clothes, walked in from outside the door.

"Chief Lucille, you were looking for me?"

"Let me make an introduction," Lucille began with a smile. "This is Michael Freenan, the deputy captain of our Major Crimes Division. This is Kris Cooper, the son of a good friend of mine. He wishes to learn about the Walter Wave suicide case. You were in charge of that case back then, so you certainly know more details than I do. I also have to attend a meeting at Headquarters, so I’ll leave this matter to you!"

"Alright, please rest assured, Chief!" Michael Freenan immediately took the initiative to extend his hand and shake Kris Cooper’s. "Mr. Cooper, I’ve heard so much about you!"

Kris Cooper offered a polite remark, then went straight to the point. "If it’s convenient for you, there are some questions I’d like to ask."

"Well... how about this," Michael Freenan considered for a moment. "Why don’t you come to my office? We can sit down and talk properly!"

Lucille smiled at Kris Cooper. "Then I’ll make a move first."

"Okay, please go ahead with your business."

Once Lucille had left, Kris Cooper, holding the case file, went to Michael Freenan’s office with his assistant, Tommy Taylor.

Michael Freenan briefly recounted the circumstances of the case to him. Although it was a case from a year ago, it had attracted considerable attention at the time because the individual involved, Walter Wave, was a prominent figure in the real estate world. Consequently, Michael Freenan had a very vivid memory of it.

"At the time, was it definitively suicide?"

"After the incident occurred, we also conducted investigations from various aspects. At that time, we found no suspicion of homicide, so we ultimately concluded it was suicide."

Kris Cooper nodded, then flipped back a couple more pages. When he saw Liliana Davis’s name on the witness testimonies, his brow twitched sharply.

"Liliana Davis, you have her testimony as well?"

Michael Freenan glanced sideways at the testimony Kris Cooper was examining. "Oh, I remember this person. She’s an official from Singapore, right? I remember very clearly that she had also appeared at the Wave Tower. We discovered her presence on the surveillance footage. Later, to get her statement, we even made a special trip to Singapore."
