I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 241: The Statue Killer
Chapter 241: The Statue Killer
"What can you tell us about Brother John?"
The girl’s eyes turned sharp, "Did something happen?"
Ravi nodded, "Someone’s life is on the line. Anything you can remember would help."
The girl looked at her father, who nodded at her in encouragement.

Ravi drove back to the Bureau, replying calmly to the two people who seemed to have a whole lot of questions for him.
"She has to give an official statement."
"This John fins is not dangerous, right? He is not going to come after her or anything. Cami is my only family, nothing can happen to her."
"Dad, you would worry yourself in the hospital. Do not forget we don’t have money for medical bills. I will be fine and even if John is dangerous, then isn’t the police station the safest place for me to be at the moment? Look, you already have two strands of gray hair, how on earth would you find a stepmother for me like this?"
"This child." The man scolded lightly but Ravi could see that he was smiling from the mirror.
They soon reached the office and Ravi saw Tom, "Sergeant, You are back up."
Tom had been the major person assisting Korra in the Forensic lab, he said that compared to running around, staying in one place was probably better for him. Arlen had agreed.
"Yes, figured you guys would need me today. Our calls to the Hospital just came through, who are these?"
"She can identify our mystery, John. Where is the Captain?"
"Captain Sinclair? He left for Oakdale with one blind professor."
Blind professor?
"He said that you and Lisa should call him the moment you get back. Where is Officer Johnson?" Tom looked behind Ravi before staring at him.
"She looked pale. Said that she needed to go home for a while, she would come back in the afternoon."
"She is still young. She probably needed time to take a breather. That is good. Call the Captain and I will get our guests settled in."
Ravi nodded and headed to the phone booth to call Arlen, "Captain. I am back. We did not find any working cameras. The killer seemed to be using some kind of jammer that caused the camera to malfunction but one of the store owner’s daughters claimed that she saw him at Davenport General Hospital, he wore glasses and his hairstyle was different but she could swear it was him. She wanted to greet him but her friend was really sick."
Arlen’s voice came through, "It checks out. I believe our suspect is a doctor in the Davenport General Hospital. A visiting doctor came around six or seven months ago. We have asked for the list from the hospital, it should arrive soon. We would check it against the physical description so far and best if the girl can identify him. Korra has confirmed that the Davenport General Hospital has an internal investigation over a large amount of missing drugs in the last five months and they suspended a Miss Abigail Kim. She tried to sue the hospital but since she could not recall what happened that night, her case was dismissed. Sounds familiar?"
"En."
He could feel the excitement in Arlen’s voice and he smiled.
"This is it. We are so close."
They were so close. Once they get the identity of the person, they should formulate a plan and strike so why was Arlen not here right now?
"We are in Oakdale chasing a lead. I wanted to wait for the Heroes Association to send a psychic but there was no time so I called the Professor."
"That is okay. I am sure he is happy to serve the nation."
"That is simply true." Malik’s gentle voice sounded in Ravi’s ears causing Ravi to smile.
They talked for a few seconds before Arlen had to cut the call, claiming that he had arrived in Oakdale Maximum Prison.
Ravi had to look for Draco who had finished with the friends of Mary. One of them had claimed that he had once seen her with a young man who brought her a red rose and she had been blushing but when she had asked to meet him, said that he was just a friend who moved and he was shy around strangers.
Draco was in a good mood, "When the Hospital sends their list of doctors, we will finally catch this man."
"Do you know why the Captain went to Oakdale?"
Draco blinked, his eyes grew dim and there was a hint of fear in his eyes, "Ravi, have you heard of the Statue Killer?"
Ravi raised one unimpressed eyebrow to say exactly what he thought about what Draco was saying.
"I am serious. You are not on social media. What on earth do you do in your free time?"
"I farm. I paint. I read."
"Your life must be so boring. The Statue Killer was a big deal. Like over the last five years or so, the Statue Killer would torture someone and then he would leave them to die next to a Statue. It was really, really creepy. He would even arrange them like the statue. So the Oakdale Police were searching for years and they finally caught the act. He was holding a knife when they caught him and they arrested him. He is even a doctor, how sick is that? In the daytime, he would heal people, then at night, he would kill them. That is perverted on a whole different level. I heard he is on death parole or something. He killed like ten women, he is pretty big,"
"Oh! What does that have to...Wait, this Statute Killer in prison? Did he say that he did not do it? He can’t remember."
Draco looked impressed, "Yes, he appealed like so many times. Saying that he did not do it but the case is clear. Not only did they find out that he was the one who stole the drugs, but they also found pictures of the girls in his house, and their DNA was scattered around his property. If he did not do it, then he should probably explain that."
Ravi felt a rare chill down his spine.
