I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 260: I want to go back to the Capital
Chapter 260: I want to go back to the Capital
Arlen turned to look at him, "You don’t want to drink." That was a little odd, Ravi loved wine. In fact, he had jars of wine buried in his garden.
Why was Arlen looking so dumbstruck like he was an alcoholic? He stopped himself from rolling his eyes and gestured to Rey, "The water is for your sister. She is pregnant."
Shock rippled through Rey’s blue eyes and the poised and calm young woman pointed to herself repeating almost foolishly, "I am pregnant?"
Ravi nodded calmly. He did not know any way to subtly gesture to the woman that she was pregnant and he knew that pregnant women were advised to avoid certain foods. This was Arlen’s nephew or niece, he might tell the atoms but he was not a fortune teller, he could not say which gender the little cluster of atoms would be.
"How.." Before she could begin her interrogation, Arlen pounced on her.
"Rey! You are pregnant, you are pregnant."
He laughed and pulled her into a hug so tight that Rey had to pat his hand to force him to let go.
The Sun shone so brightly in the middle of the sky as Arlen bent down to place his ears on her stomach.
"Why can’t I hear anything?" His voice had a tinge of worry as he looked up at Ravi.
Rey rolled her eyes, "Did we spend money on your education for nothing? What baby can you hear when it is barely a month old?" She then turned to Ravi with a grateful smile, "Thank you for the news and for the congratulations too. Have your abilities further, it says in your file that you can only heal yourself, can you now determine other biological makeup and heal them too." She sat back down, blue eyes on Ravi.
Arlen, who had been pushed, had nothing to say and he just sighed. "Rey, You are pregnant, should you not be rushing home to tell your brother-in-law the news, not trying to check how much information about my boyfriend you can glean so you can report it back to Mother."
"I have a desire for the information myself. Especially information that is as Elusive as Ravi but you are right, I have to tell my husband this news." her brows wrinkled at the thought of the extra fussing she would receive.
She looked at Ravi, surely he knew how suspicious surrounding this information would be but he had gone on to tell. Was this he extending an olive branch? Or was this an attempt to distract her from probing too deeply into his identity?
Her brother looked so happy; he was practically glowing. Arlen had dated before but it had never been like this. This Ravi was different and that was practically the reason she had rushed over here.
"Rey!" Arlen could see his sister’s mind spinning and he called her name. He was holding his phone and he raised it up, "I can’t contain myself, if you hesitate, I would tell my brother-in-law first."
Rey sighed, "Why on earth are you so excited?’
"Don’t you understand, I am going to be an Uncle? An Uncle. Uncle Arlen."
Arlen was so excited that Ravi had to cover his mouth to hide his laughter, if one did not know the situation, they would think that he was the one who was pregnant.
Even though they shared the same mother, the Sinclair siblings were really so different. Ravi had met Anouk who was the living personification of an ice block, and Rey who was so calm that she might be moved if this building should collapse. After her initial shock, calmness had returned to her face, like a child returning home.
Arlen on the other hand, Ravi could almost see a tail wagging at his back, he had not even returned to his seat, standing by his sister’s side like a butler.
"Fine. I will head back to the Capital." Rey finally said, "Ravi, it was nice to meet you. Let’s take a rain check on Lunch?"
Ravi sighed and he had picked the best shirt he possibly could, "Okay. How would you be getting back?"
"My ability is wind manipulation. I would fly back."
"Fly back? Is that even allowed? You are..."
"Don’t finish that sentence. I am pregnant, not disabled. I flew here, I can fly back." Rev drank some water and stood up, "About the transfer document, I would trust the two of you to discuss it. I would stand by any decision you make and we would see you in the Capital for Mother’s birthday next month." She nodded at the two of them; ignored Arlen who was rapidly browsing whether flying can hurt a baby, went to the window, and took off.
"Rey! Wait. Wait. Rey!"
"She is gone." Ravi said as he drank the smooth wine in the glass, "Don’t worry, flying would not hurt the baby." He looked at the window where the young woman had taken off; she had invited him to her mother’s birthday next month, and did that mean some kind of acceptance?
"She is so stubborn." Arlen groaned as he slumped into the seat, "Ravi."
"Yes."
"I am going to be an Uncle." His thumb rubbed down the corner of his mouth and he grinned foolishly to himself. After a second, he frowned.
Ravi could tell what he was worrying about, "You are going to be a great Uncle. See how good you are with Sage and Ash."
Arlen scoffed, "Ash barely tolerates me and Sage, I can swear that he has a book on how to kill me if anything should happen to you. Not like I would let anything happen to you." He reached out to take Ravi’s hand caressing it.
"You are exaggerating."
"I am not. The way he looks at me sometimes, I can feel his intention."
Ravi could not help it, he laughed so much that his shoulder shook.
"Thank you for telling her. For telling me. My Parents would be ecstatic, with Anouk and me, their entire hope is on Rey. This is great news for the entire family."
Ravi nodded.
"For us."
Arlen’s hands relaxed before he gripped Ravi’s hands even more firmly and he gently graced his fingertips along the edge of Ravi’s joints as if he was carefully tracing the outline.
Ravi’s expression shook a bit. He could feel that steady tongue of sweetness seeping not his heart and he smiled.
"You shared your family with me. I want to do the same, even though mine can be a little cuckoo."
Ravi laughed, "Cuckoo is fine. I have crazy at home."
"Ravi, I want to go back to the Capital."
