Chapter 728 -536: A Century’s Rare Inspiration—It Finally Erupts!_2
Lu Yuan chuckled, “I was just wondering, if we encounter a crisis, could we still escape back to this space?”
“Dream on!” the Strangers snapped angrily. “You think the [Monster] is some pet of ours, ready to take orders whenever we want?”
“It was influenced by the Lanpeng people, developed a sense of threat toward human cities, and that’s why it threw you out.”
“Do you think it would let something that threatens it back inside?”
Seems reasonable enough.
Without this backup escape route, Lu Yuan felt a bit disappointed.
But he quickly perked up—humans must rely on themselves, and he’d just been asking casually anyway.
“Wait a minute… don’t rush.” The Crystal Man spoke again, “[Monster] has some intelligence, but it’s not very high. Who knows, maybe in a few hundred years it’ll forget about this.”
“If this Different Space hasn’t moved by then, we might be able to figure out a way to let you in.”
Lu Yuan was taken aback, “Thank you, senior! But if there’s no danger, we won’t bother coming back.”
“Hmph, foolish! Don’t you want random teleportation? The [Monster] can help you teleport randomly—way faster than your slow drifting! Here, we’re your solid backup!”
“That said, it only teleports every few hundred years. Don’t expect too much.”
Lu Yuan’s eyes lit up. Hmm… maybe this is useful. Perhaps one such teleportation could bring him close to the Human Mother Civilization.
At that, he gave a slight bow. “Seniors, take care! If all is well, we’re embarking on a new journey!”
Mid-sentence, Lu Yuan couldn’t hold back a smile from spreading across his face.
He felt certain he could find new opportunities.
Jin Bote, on the other hand, looked envious, while the Strangers wore grim expressions and grumbled two words: “Get lost!”
…
…
Opening his eyes, Lu Yuan exhaled a lungful of stale breath as the sounds of bustling activity filled his ears.
“The blizzard is subsiding!”
“Attention, citizens: please remain active only within the city. Do not leave the city.”
The scene within the small cave grew visibly busier. Residents began spontaneously clearing snow. Even the nearby Green Grass City, close at hand, had long been abandoned of human presence.
Even the sturdiest engravings will gradually fade; only generation after generation of life can withstand the erosion of time.
Solders, meanwhile, were taking turns scouting the outside environment. In such brutally cold conditions, outside investigations had to be handled cautiously—Lu Yuan didn’t want any children freezing to death under mysterious circumstances.
In the logistics department, they were busy tallying resources.
The construction of a small city for the Lanpeng Civilization had consumed an enormous amount of resources—industrial materials like iron and copper were critically low.
As for anti-cold supplies, down jackets, shoes, and cold-resistant hats would need to be urgently produced in larger quantities.
Energy, however, wasn’t an issue. With the incredible power of controlled nuclear fusion, even with external temperatures at minus twenty to thirty degrees, the small cave remained as warm as spring inside.
Food and extraordinary consumables, however, weren’t abundant. As such, the 800,000 people still in stasis didn’t need to be awakened in a hurry.
Instead, the first to awaken was the Insect Race army. Those 100,000 insects had slumbered for 78 years, with cocoons that had practically grown a patina. Upon receiving Lu Yuan’s command, they finally awoke from their deep sleep.
The insect storage area was filled with rustling sounds as cocoons broke open.
The Insect Race is a curious anomaly; during extended dormancy, they gradually regress to a juvenile state, extending their lifespans.
However, the high-level insect clans did not regress. Instead, noticing the environmental changes, they simply shed a layer of shell and grew wool-like structures for cold resistance.
The ground was littered with insect shells—all excellent armor materials!
“WAAA-GAH!” The massive Leviathan squinted its eyes and roared, its pincers snapping loudly.
“Charge!” Lu Yuan, piloting the Leviathan Giant Worm and the Undying Giant Turtle, completed a lap around the deserted city in a match race.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
The snowfield was left with a series of enormous footprints.
The Undying Giant Turtle now stood as tall as a three-story building, while Leviathan towered at an astonishing six stories!
The two collided in a passionate clash.
Hovering in the air, the much larger “Little Mirage Dragon” looked down at them rolling and colliding in the snow with bemusement. It sighed inwardly: Such idiocy. How could there be such foolish creatures in this world?!
Yet deep down, it also secretly wanted to roll around in the snow.
Lu Yuan stayed far away from the collision of these colossal creatures. The warm breath he exhaled turned instantly to frost, but his face was full of smiles.
“Comrades, so, when can we restore full productivity?”
“First, we need to prepare abundant extraordinary consumables and cold-resistant clothing,” a logistics officer reported. “With the Insect Race fully awakened, it will take one to two years to replenish the supplies.”
“There’s no need to transport Green Mountain out again—external conditions are too cold. It’s better to artificially cultivate extraordinary plants in the small cave using greenhouses.”
“What about food reserves… how long will it take to fill the granaries?”
“Oh, you don’t need to worry about that… If you want a century’s worth of reserves, that’ll take a bit of time. But in emergencies, we can even use controlled nuclear fusion to produce synthetic starch. There’s absolutely no risk of hunger issues! So, we already have sufficient food reserves.”
“What about meat?” Lu Yuan asked again. After all, people couldn’t eat just noodles every day.
“Uh… With cell cultivation, production isn’t an issue, but the texture of synthetic meat is still quite bad—nobody really likes it. Under normal conditions, it’ll take 12 to 24 months before various poultry and beasts can hit the market.”
“So, overall, I think two years is a reasonable timeframe. Two years later, we can awaken everyone.”
“Fair enough.”
Having lived this way for 78 years, another two years didn’t seem like a big deal.
What’s more, nearly half of the people were still progressing at a decent pace within the dreamscape.
Looking back over the past 78 years, Lu Yuan was quite satisfied. Without spending many resources, they had advanced dreamscape research to this level, laying a solid foundation for a future fourth-level civilization.
Just then, Sister Conch appeared with a group of children bundled up like pandas, running out to play in the snow.
The Undying Giant Turtle, which had been tussling with Leviathan, immediately froze in place.
So did Leviathan and the other insects.
Some kids were having snowball fights; others were laughing gleefully. Some even started a game of “Conquer the Summit,” attempting to climb onto the Undying Giant Turtle’s shell!
“WAAA-GAH-GAH! Climb faster!” Mr. Turtle shouted wildly.
Seeing the kids climb its shell seemed to energize it more than any battle ever could.
Wait!
Mr. Turtle’s body trembled suddenly, shaking the snow off its head, and bellowed, “Wrong spot! Who’s tugging at my backside—come out now!”
“You brat, get your lowly maid hands off me!”
Everyone burst into laughter.
BOOM—a Little Mirage Dragon, floating in midair, crashed into the snow, sending up a flurry of white powder.
It wanted to laugh at the absurd scene but, mindful of its pride in broad daylight, repressed its laughter, writhing like a loach in the snow, looking utterly miserable.
“HAHAHA!” fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
The cheerful laughter echoed over the city.
Watching this heartwarming scene, Lu Yuan felt a flood of emotions and an inexplicable sense of achievement.
This must be what they call rebirth after disaster.
Even amidst the icy landscapes, uncertain of dangers ahead or what the future held, humanity had begun to look forward with optimism and positivity.
Through one disaster after another, facing and colliding with challenges head-on, humanity had gradually awakened its inner strength.
Through disaster, we examine ourselves.
Through misfortune, we understand ourselves.
Through suffering, we become stronger versions of ourselves.
Hello, world.
We… have returned!
We are like a pine tree, slowly growing even against the harshest winds, inch by inch.
Seeing the children playing, that mysterious feeling grew stronger, like a warm current climbing his spine and flooding his brain completely!
It was so powerful, yet so familiar!
Lu Yuan’s eyes widened in delight as his heart soared.
A burst of craftsmanship inspiration—unleashed!
This elusive feeling was so miraculous, the stream of creativity pouring out felt like a third eye on his forehead, comprehending every aspect of the world.
The reason for the craftsmen’s esteemed status lay in their every creation, which brought monumental innovations to the Pangu Continent.
And craftsmen in a state of inspiration were even more so.

(PS: New story arc begins. Time to plan the chapters ahead, so the word count is shorter today. Things return to normal tomorrow.)
(The last storyline leaned darker to expand the worldbuilding, but I’m fairly satisfied overall.)
(The upcoming story will be more lighthearted, so enjoy it!)
