Chapter 469: Chapter 469 A fresh beginning

"Thank you," she said brokenly. "I... I didn’t know what to do anymore. I thought I was failing him."

Alina shook her head at once, stepping closer with a gentle, reassuring smile. "No. You’re not failing him at all. You did everything you could because you love him and you were worried about him. That already makes you a wonderful mother. You’re not alone anymore. We’re here."

She turned her warm gaze toward Jojo and smiled at him softly. "You did really well today."

Jojo straightened a little, shy pride flickering in his green eyes.

Ana took a deep breath, emotion still lingering in her chest. "Please also... thank Lord Dante on my behalf," she said earnestly. "I’ll never forget this."

Alina nodded gently. "I will."

Before they left, Ana insisted on preparing lunch for them. As someone with an Earth Core herself, she cooked instinctively with ingredients that felt nourishing, grounding, and rich with natural energy. The kitchen soon filled with the comforting scent of warm vegetables, herbs, and freshly cooked dishes that felt both hearty and soothing.

When they sat down to eat, Alina was genuinely taken aback.

"This is so good," she said with honest delight after the first bite. "It’s delicious."

Ana blushed, smiling shyly as she tucked a curl behind her ear. "I’m glad you like it... I don’t cook for guests very often."

Alina praised her again, savoring every dish, and Ana’s smile slowly grew brighter, her earlier worry finally easing into quiet, grateful happiness.

After a while, both of them left in a UFO-like vehicle. Fluffy floated beside Alina, looking unusually proud.

"You did good," he said sweetly.

Alina nodded, her cheeks warming at his compliment. She looked at Fluffy with sincere gratitude, her exhaustion softened by a quiet sense of pride and wonder.

"Thank you, Fluffy," she said warmly. "Because of you, I was able to discover my own core. Now I can help the babies better... and you’re an amazing teacher."

Fluffy lifted his chin proudly, his fluffy form puffing up as if her praise physically fueled him. "You’re welcome!" he said happily, eyes twinkling.

He did not mention the truth—that ordinary humans were not meant to awaken a magic core unless they had been born with one. He simply watched her with a satisfied, approving smile, pleased by her effort, her determination, and the gentle purpose she carried.

And Alina, unaware of how rare her achievement truly was, only felt grateful, inspired, and quietly excited for everything she could now do to protect and guide her little students.

Alina had sent a cheerful message in the group chat many days ago, and again yesterday, reminding everyone that kindergarten was finally starting. Now, as morning sunlight spilled softly across her room, her heart felt light and bright with anticipation. Today was the day. A fresh beginning. A new term.

She got ready with extra care, slipping into a beautiful dark green dress that hugged her gently, the color making her hazel eyes look deeper and warmer. Matching dark green earrings glinted faintly near her jaw, and her chestnut-brown hair flowed freely down her back, soft and glossy. When she looked at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t help smiling. She looked ready. Excited. Alive.

Her steps were almost bouncy as she walked through the halls of the kindergarten. The building felt different today, as if it were holding its breath in excitement too. On the way, she passed some of the older babies wandering around, some curious, some shy, some already giggling and whispering to each other. A few recognized her and waved, and she waved back warmly, her heart melting at their tiny reactions.

When she reached the staffroom, she pushed open the door and found Gabriel already inside, engaged in a quiet conversation with Miss Kelly and Professor Hobb.

"Good morning," Alina greeted with a warm smile, her voice soft but full of enthusiasm.

Gabriel turned toward her, his expression easing into a gentle smile. "Good morning, Alina. You look... very ready for today."

Miss Kelly grinned. "More like glowing. First-day energy suits you."

Alina laughed lightly, feeling her cheeks warm. "I’ve been looking forward to this all week. It feels like the start of something special."

Professor Hobb nodded in agreement as Alina settled into her seat, a soft, happy smile still on her face.

"I can’t wait to start class already," Alina said with bright excitement, her eyes lighting up as if she could already see the children in front of her. "I’m already imagining their expressions, and I’m sure they’re going to tell me all their cute holiday stories. I missed their little voices so much."

Gabriel smiled knowingly and nodded. "You won’t be disappointed," he said gently. "They’ve probably prepared a whole collection of dramatic, exaggerated adventures."

"Well..." he added, amusement softening his voice, "last time they were extremely mischievous. I still remember how they gathered in front of the principal’s office to protest when you took leave. The chaos was... unforgettable."

Alina laughed at this, amused and fond.

"Oh yes," Miss Kelly chimed in, already grinning at the memory. "Especially that dragon baby and the ghost baby. Do you remember the day they were spying behind the window?" She burst into laughter. "They genuinely thought they were hiding well."

Professor Hobb chuckled under his breath. "Their definition of stealth was... questionable."

"They kept whispering so loudly," Miss Kelly continued, wiping a tear of laughter from her eye.

Which made the whole staffroom burst into laughter.

Alina smiled along, her heart light, then gently gathered her attendance sheet from the desk. She flipped through the pages out of habit, scanning the names she knew by heart, names that already felt like part of her daily life. Her gaze drifted to the clock on the wall.

Five minutes more.

A small, anticipatory smile curved her lips.

Rising from her chair, she smoothed her dark green dress, the soft fabric whispering as she moved. The earrings at her ears caught the light when she turned, and her loose hair brushed against her shoulders as she stepped out of the staffroom, her excitement growing with every step.

Alina walked forward, her heart beating just a little faster. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
