Chapter 488: Chapter 488 Entertaining

"Drake! Boo!"

Alina’s voice cut through the room in that rare, sharp teacher tone that made every baby freeze.

Both of them instantly stopped fighting mid-air and slowly turned to look at her, eyes wide like they had just been caught stealing cookies.

She folded her arms, not angry, but very serious.

"Class representative is not about who is strongest," she said slowly, making sure each of them understood. "Or who can fly. Or who is the loudest. Or who is the fastest."

Drake slowly lowered himself to the floor.

Boo floated down too, looking slightly guilty.

"It is about who can help others," she continued. "Who can stay calm. Who can think about everyone, not just themselves."

The room went quiet.

Luna’s tail stopped flicking.

Felix opened one eye properly.

Rocky sat straighter.

Lucien nodded once, like this matched his thinking exactly.

Sable looked thoughtful, chewing the inside of his cheek.

"You can all want it," Alina said more softly now. "That’s okay. But you have to show me you are ready for it."

Boo raised one tiny hand slowly. "So... pushing people in the air is... not leadership?"

"No," Felix said flatly.

Drake scratched his head. "What if pushing is gentle?"

"No," Lucien said calmly.

Luna huffed. "You two will never get it if you keep acting like flying pigeons."

"I am not a pigeon!" Boo gasped.

"You are a shiny pigeon," Felix muttered.

Boo clutched his chest dramatically.

Alina pressed her lips together, clearly trying not to laugh.

Alina let the noise settle just enough before she lifted her hand slightly, her smile soft but her eyes carrying that calm authority the babies had slowly learned to respect.

"Alright," she said, regaining control. "It’s difficult to choose only one just by looking. So we will do voting. Anyone who wants to become class representative has one week to earn the trust of their classmates. At the end of the week, we will vote. Whoever gets the most votes will become CR."

For a split second, there was silence.

Then the classroom exploded.

"YAYYYYYY!"

Tiny hands clapped, tails wagged, wings fluttered, and Boo accidentally spun upside down from excitement.

"So who wants to be CR?" Alina asked, already knowing this was about to get interesting.

Slowly, proudly, four hands went up.

Vlad Jr.

Drake.

Boo.

Luna.

They all looked at each other like four tiny war generals who had just discovered they were on opposite sides.

Drake blinked first.

"Vlad Jr... you too?" he asked, completely betrayed.

Vlad Jr. adjusted his sleeve with quiet elegance and nodded once. "I believe I can handle responsibility better than most," he said calmly, like he was already accepting an award.

Boo floated higher. "Wow. This is becoming political."

"I don’t like responsibility," Felix said from his seat, letting out a long, relieved sigh. "I would rather vote."

He folded his arms and leaned back like someone who had successfully avoided paperwork for life.

Beside him, Sable slowly nodded, biting his finger nervously.

He wanted to be CR.

He really did.

But the thought of everyone looking at him when something went wrong made his chest feel tight. What if someone cried? What if he cried? What if he had to scold someone? What if he messed up?

How could he take care of everyone... if sometimes he still needed someone to hold his hand?

He lowered his gaze quietly, deciding not to raise his hand.

Lucien didn’t react at all.

He sat straight, calm, observant.

Leadership didn’t interest him. Control, order, logic... yes. Titles... no.

If something needed to be fixed, he would fix it anyway. He didn’t need a badge for it.

Across the room, Kelpie absentmindedly splashed a small water bubble into the air, his eyes sparkling.

Oh, this was going to be entertaining.

He would never admit it out loud, but he loved drama. The tiny rivalries. The emotional speeches. The dramatic promises. The accidental chaos.

Sorry friends... but this is very entertaining, Kelpie thought happily, already imagining campaign speeches.

Meanwhile, Rocky sat very still, very peaceful.

CR sounded like... talking.

A lot of talking.

And standing in front.

And attention.

He physically felt uncomfortable just imagining it.

But he smiled softly, looking at his friends. He would cheer for whoever won. That felt much more like him.

Alina watched all of them quietly.

This was going to be a very interesting week.

Alina clapped her hands softly once, gathering their attention again as the last whispers and giggles slowly faded into quiet curiosity. She rested one hand on the edge of her desk, looking at each of them with that warm, patient smile they all trusted without even realizing it.

"Alright, let’s start class now," she said gently. "This term we have some small changes in the syllabus. Every day after recess, we will have two periods of magic core practice. Before recess, we will continue with our usual classes like mathematics, science, and language. I will send the revised schedule in the parents’ group so everyone at home also knows."

The babies nodded obediently, though their faces clearly said magic practice was interesting, schedules were not.

Drake was already drawing fire shapes in the corner of his notebook.

Boo was floating slightly sideways, pretending to listen very seriously.

Felix looked like he was mentally calculating how much effort this term would require.

Luna looked alert but mildly suspicious of anything called "schedule."

Vlad Jr. looked composed, as if he had already memorized the timetable in spirit.

Kelpie was making tiny water bubbles and popping them silently.

Rocky was sitting straight, trying very hard to look responsible.

Lucien was quietly attentive.

Sable was watching Alina like every word mattered.

Alina hid a small laugh inside her chest.

"Let’s start with our first class. Literature," she said, turning and writing the word neatly on the board.

All the babies nodded again, this time a little more awake because literature meant stories, and stories meant imagination.

"Just like last term, this term we will continue learning literature," she explained softly. "We will read stories, learn new words, practice grammar, and later we will also start small essays. Not scary essays," she added quickly, seeing Drake’s soul leave his body. "Simple ones. About things you like. Your holidays. Your family. Your favorite food. Your favorite memory."

That made them relax instantly.

"Literature is not only about books," she continued, her voice turning softer, warmer. "It is about understanding feelings. Understanding others. Learning how to say what is inside your heart. Sometimes words are also magic."
