Roxanna blinked several times, and only then did she realize she would be covered in fur if she shifted into her fox form!
After getting her answer, Roxanna finally let Zeir go to the well to fetch water, so he could clean her body as well as the hut, which had gotten a bit messy. Good thing Roxanna had bought the mattress. Otherwise, they would’ve made an even bigger mess.
Still... the mattress was dirty now.
Roxanna stared at it for a while. Then Zeir spoke again, as if reading her mind. "I’ll clean it too," he said calmly. "Don’t worry."
With that reassurance, Roxanna finally shifted into her pink fox form. The moment Zeir crouched down in front of her, she immediately jumped into his arms like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Zeir smiled faintly and gently stroked her soft fur a few times. Then he asked her to climb onto his shoulder while he rolled up the mattress.
[So this is what it feels like to become a fox...] Roxanna thought. [Honestly, it’s not bad at all.]
She knew it wasn’t her first time shifting into her fox form. But the first time it happened, her mind had been too focused on Calen. Everything felt blurry back then, so she didn’t have time to pay attention to what her body was really feeling.
But now, she was fully aware, and she realized something right away.
When she became a fox, her senses became much sharper, her eyes were clearer, and her ears were more sensitive. She could even hear the sound of crickets much more clearly in this form.
But the best part? She could rub her fluffy fox head against Zeir’s cheek whenever she wanted. She even licked his cheek a few times, using it as a replacement for kisses.
"What are you doing?" Zeir asked with a smile. "Do you want a kiss?"
Then he gave her a few kisses on top of her head. Her eyes drooped slightly as she looked up at him with a soft, sleepy gaze, like she didn’t want to move at all.
Zeir let Roxanna settle back into his arms, right on top of the mattress he had rolled up. On their way back to the hut, the whole settlement was completely quiet. The only sound around them was the soft chirping of crickets.
[Good thing everyone is already asleep,] Roxanna thought. [And thankfully, that guard hut is far from the villagers’ houses, or our voices would’ve been heard clearly.]
But her relief didn’t last long. As they got closer to their hut, Roxanna froze because she saw Cyrus and Azul sitting on the porch, probably waiting for them.
Both of them narrowed their eyes the moment they saw Zeir coming back, carrying a rolled-up mattress, with Roxanna in her fox form in his arms.
"Zeir..." Azul started, his tone calm but clearly displeased. "I don’t think this is your best behavior. You’ve never disappeared for this long without telling the others."
"I didn’t disappear," Zeir replied immediately. His voice was firm, almost defensive. "I just had something to do with Roxanna. That’s all."
Cyrus sighed and looked at Zeir with a blank expression. "Something like... mating?"
The moment Roxanna heard that, she wanted to bury herself into the ground. She immediately turned around and hid her face against Zeir’s chest.
[Of course they know!] Roxanna complained in her mind. [They must’ve looked for me and found out we were... mating!]
Oh, Roxanna was right.
When they didn’t come back for a long time, Azul decided to look for them because he was worried, but his worry didn’t last long.
The moment he heard Roxanna’s voice coming from inside the guard hut, his concern turned into pure irritation.
Worse, he could even hear her inner thoughts, and her inner thoughts were basically praising Zeir’s double pillars again and again!
Azul simply couldn’t accept it. He could satisfy her too, even though he only had one proud pillar!
"We’re husband and wife," Zeir said casually, shrugging like it wasn’t a big deal. "So it’s normal, right? Besides, we had a good time."
Cyrus only looked at him lazily, but he could tell Zeir seemed fresher and smiled more easily after spending hours alone with Roxanna.
That mating session really did give them a good time. Instead of feeling jealous, Cyrus honestly just wanted to join.
Zeir cleared his throat. "Where are Calen and Luan?" he asked, clearly trying to change the subject.
"They’re asleep after drinking too much liquor," Azul replied.
Zeir raised his eyebrows. "Liquor? Why were they drinking? What are we even celebrating?"
Cyrus lightly smacked Zeir’s arm. "You. We’re celebrating you," he said. "Congratulations on becoming our new commander."
"Oh..." Zeir looked at Cyrus, then at Azul, finally understanding. "So you’ve been preparing the celebration since... earlier?"
"Yes," Azul replied with a sigh. "We’ve been waiting for hours." Then he looked at Zeir with narrowed eyes again. "But it turns out you were celebrating alone with our wife."
[Oh no... I ruined everything!] she panicked. [They must’ve planned to surprise Zeir, but we didn’t show up at all!]

Azul didn’t say anything harsh, probably because he was too nice. But Roxanna knew that anyone would be upset if their surprise plan failed like this.
So without thinking too much, Roxanna immediately shifted back into her human form. She didn’t even care that she was naked—after all, it was only her and her husbands there—then ran straight toward Azul.
"Azul, I’m sorry!" She threw herself into his arms. "If you had told me about this, I would’ve asked Zeir to come back immediately. I’m so sorry. You must be so disappointed in us."

The moment the skill activated, Roxanna could feel Azul’s body slowly relax. He even hugged her back and gently swayed her from side to side, like he found her too cute to stay angry at.
"It’s all right," Azul said, patting her on the back. "We made this because we want Zeir to be happy. But since you already made him happy, I guess it doesn’t matter."
Then, in a calmer voice, he added, "Besides, we can still drink liquor after this."
