Chapter 23 - You Hesitate You Die.

...

The Spear peak.

Like the sword peak, the spear peak is shaped like a spear.

In the spear peak, it is said that the higher you are, the higher your status.

The peak leader is at the very top, he sits right at the tip of the top. Liu Huan struggles to stay on, hugging the peak, Lu Bu looks down at him.

"Disciple, for what is your purpose?"

Liu Huan looks up at him, respect glimmering in his eyes. "M-master, I believe my purpose is to become great at the spear."

Lu Bu exasperates, shaking his head slowly.

"How shallow... time will come, time will pass. Remain in the past and reveal your weaknesses—next is the present, in which time will soon arrive, you will always live in the present though one is not aware."

Liu Huan sighs, "W-what do you mean master—"

Suddenly, he gets pushed off of the top of the shaft by a force and falls all the way down.

"AHHHHHHH!"

He struggles to hold on, not yet breaking through the mortal shackles, the fall is treacherous, as the spear peak is about 0.5 KM.

Suddenly, a disciple riding a spear catches him effortlessly, the disciple smiles.

Liu Huan takes a deep breath, his emotions wavering, he nearly died!

The disciple who had just caught Liu Huan from his fall laughs, "Junior brother! Our master may be a little tough, but this is all for the good of things!"

Liu Huan looks up at him. The disciple is pretty bulky, always carrying a smile, at first glance, he looks like an inner disciple, but his robes are a darker green than normal.

"Core disciple!" Liu Huan shouts, almost falling out of his senior brother's grasp.

Sharp winds fly against them, but the senior brother just blocks it effortlessly.

He puts Liu Huan down on the spear, and then pats his chest. "The names Yu Ru, junior brother!"

Liu Huan breathes in, and then salutes his Yu Ru. "Thank you, senior brother."

Yu Ru laughs, flying his spear down to the bottom of the peak. "It's fine, master may be a little rough, but it's all in the name of discipline."

Liu Huan nods, his eyes trembling slightly. "S...senior brother, when can I start cultivating?"

Yu Ru lands, helping Liu Huan off of his spear.

He then tosses him a random high-grade technique from the pouch around his waist. "Here you go, this is fit for a brave man like you."

Liu Huan's eyes widen as he reads through the manual.

The Peter Spear cultivation technique.

It is said that only the bravest can cultivate this manual to its full potential!

"R-really? Thank you, senior brother."

Liu Huan bows, clutching the manual with both hands.

The senior brother laughs, walking away. "Go find your abode."

Liu Huan nods, he looks towards the very very bottom of the mountain. That is where his cave abode is located.

...

Far, far away from the sect, past the Emerald Green forest and Byurning Yellow desert, there is a high mountain, shaped like two enormous iron gates.

The only way to go further is to either go around or climb it.

Cheng Lian's breath heaves in desperation, cold sweat dripping from her forehead. The mountain in front of her seems like it has no peak, clouds obscuring how far she could see, she hears a silent continuous ring, as if the mountain was calling her. She begins trembling.

"I-I can't..."

Just as she turns around, she falls down.

A blue crystal located in her pocket vibrates, before letting out the sound of a deep mans voice.

"Climb it."

She reaches into her pockets and clutches the crystal, heart pounding against her ribcage.

"Y-yes Father, I'll get it done immediately."

Turning back to the mountain, she continues trembling unconditionally.

The Lavish Gates of Hell

It is said, no matter if you are an infant or experienced cultivator, there is always a 50/50 chance of either dying or living.

The mountain itself dictates whether you survive or live. It stands tall, so tall that even the most red-eyed, dizzy birds have never seen the peak.

Though some, like Chen Lian, are experiencing terrible troubles at this moment, some are living their lives lavishly.

Lei Ming currently rides a golden carriage, on his way to the Great Whirlwind sect.

A woman sits across from him, laughing cheerfully. "My dear Ming, don't forget to marry me once you become a great cultivator."

The carriage finally stops in front of the gates, the two outer disciples getting defensive.

Lei Ming chuckles, hopping off of the carriage. "Anything you say, baby!"

The carriage drives off, and Lei Ming's smile fades. "Stupid old hag, who'd want to marry a bitch like you!?"

He arrives at the gate, and after some questioning, makes his way through.

"Senior brother Dong... Junior brother Feng..."

His eyes quickly start watering. "Damn it, we started off with five, but now we're down to a measly three... and they probably hate me now."

Rubbing his eyes, he continues onwards to the mission pagoda.

Back to the Sword Peak, Xuan Wu laughs.

"There is no way! Haha, there is simply no way! How lucky!"

Suddenly, while he was cultivating, he mystically broke through into the second layer of qi gathering!

He couldn't explain this phenomenon, he had already analysed that there was a few months remaining, but he just broke through, and he doesn't care!

He looks towards the skies, and he smiles, getting on his knees. "Great Heavenly Dao, I know I doubted you before, but my worship for you is real and loyal!" Though for some reason, he feels as if the heavens are ignoring him, but all is well.

Breaking through into the second layer, he cannot just rush through to the next.

He must first steady his foundation. Sucks being a low-grade talent.

To actually steady your foundation as a qi gathering cultivator, you need to calm your restless qi, and that would be quite simple if you had qi control...

Which Xuan Wu didn't have.

"Damn it, stay down, now!"

"Stop moving! Steady!"

"Quiet!"

Xuan Wu bangs his fists against the stone wall in agony, he just can't get the qi to calm down, and stop jumping around.

He decides it would be a good idea to just go to sleep, try again tomorrow.

"As they always say; today's grievances shall be dealt with tomorrow."

Xuan Wu nods, laying his head down on the ground as he dozes off.

In the same Sword Peak, Xun Shi has already reached the fourth layer of cultivation. He has far surpassed all of the other newer disciples, and is on a road to greatness.

Sweat flies off of his body as he spars with his elder brother, grinning ear to ear.

He gets knocked back, though his breathing is still controlled.

"Great breath control." Jian Ming comments, crossing his arms.

"Thank you, elder brother." Xun Shi bows.

And then Jian Ming leaves, done for today. Xun Shi returns to cultivating.
