I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 22: Open the gates
Vulkrats are third tier beasts, which even the fourth tier fears because of how their poison works. It directly attacks one’s insanity, causing them to go mad. Thus, those that have even a spark of intelligence fear them. Not daring to cross paths.
Humans also don’t dare to go near. Just like monsters, it affects human minds too. And it’s quite deadly. Only those who have reached the third circle or aura, that of the third star, can hunt them, but even if they can, their cores and bodies have little value. Thus, none actually hunt them, causing their number to grow.
In these mere few seconds, like swamp rats, at least a hundred of them came out just from one location! And to his knowledge there are three such places where Vulkrats reside.
He waited for a few moments before jumping onto the next big tree. The trees were thick enough for him to jump from tree to tree. Thus, it was quite safer than the ground at the moment.
In a monster surge, there are thousands of monsters. The way Vulkrats create beasts that tear each other apart is so effective that even if the number of monsters increases by a few hundred, it doesn’t matter.
All monsters were panicking, trying their best to leave the forest. Thus, even if monsters notice them, they all ignore him.
It was quite safe for him in such cases. That also includes the lower zone. He was heading deeper and deeper. If it were normal, he wouldn’t dare to travel like this. But the situation was different. He will disturb all of these Vulkrats’ hideouts. Hopefully giving them a chance to defend against at least third and fourth tier beasts as for the fifth tier, he only hopes his father and mother would be able to handle them somehow.
Just as he thought of that, an intense roar shook the forest coming deeper. And a shadow was cast right over him.
Causing his face to sink, ’Fuck.’
________
Back at the Nozvan Estate. An hour has passed by as the monster surge started. The number of low tier monsters was thinning down. But none were happy. As it was just the beginning, now the actual battle will begin.
Lucian stood atop the wall right in front of a huge black A four string crossbow anchoring one single black arrow made of Amadite.
It was called Delta. An fourth tier artillery weapon granted only to a few thousand individuals spread all over the world by the Seventh Crest Alliance. And Lucian was one of them.
Right behind him were a few people. They were wearing goggles and big gloves. Each holding their own unique crossbow. They were artillerymen.
A voice shouted, ’Father, Sir Aldric has prepared the Paragon for combat!’
It was his oldest son. Lucian gazed down at the neatly ordered knights in a formation just right in front of the Gates of Nozvan.
Behind the Knights was the paragon. Each step it takes, the tiles crack. It was at least 8 meters tall. And was holding a huge sword.
It gazed up. The stone like helmet retreated, revealing Aldric confined within the Paragon. His eyes were glowing, including a symbol of a deer’s horns glowing between his eyebrows.
He bowed down before focusing on the huge gate and continued marching forward. Old as it may be, the passerby soldiers just looked at it in awe. It was a grand scene. The enormous thing they had seen countless times had finally moved! Now, they would see it in action!
Lucian nodded, gazing at it. He could only hope everything goes well as intended. Then someone approached.
’My lord, it’s not the perfect time to say this. But it’s a pleasure to meet you’
It was a burly man wearing a black coat, his left eye covered by a black eye patch with a scar from his brow all the way to his cheek.
Lucian’s brows twisted for a moment, but he contained it and looked at the man. "What might the head of the Star mercenary want in this situation?"
The burly man smiled. "The situation is dire, and we have to protect this place at all costs! Please allow us, the mercenaries, to join with the knights."
He spoke quite loudly, and soon enough it was clear why it was. Just below the city walls, right at the side, a huge number of people were gathered; they were holding all kinds of weapons and a few occasional staffs. Indicating they were magicians.
"Protect this place at all costs!"
"Let us help!"
"Let us help!"
"Let us help! We will protect our home!"
Lucian looked at the people and looked at him calmly on the surface. But within those calm eyes, the burly man felt chills run through his spine.
The burly man felt intimidated, but he couldn’t just give in. He has been loyal to the Nozvan estate. According to him, it was time for him to gain big. And the world finally gave him the opportunity.
He gulped, burying that nervousness!. "Please, Sir Lord, let us help; we can’t let any casualties," sincerely as much as we could but while in mind.
’Yeah, so what! I’m not scared of you! What can you even do?. That Zaroth bastard is already injured. You have to get our help one way or another’
Lucian looked at him. He knows very well what their motives are. But what he says is also true; they do need their strength. Their estate was declining in manpower. It won’t be a lie if he didn’t think of any possibility of mercenaries using them to earn money.
But he didn’t think this would occur so fast. He let go of his clenched hand.
"Please be on standby."
Right away a smile formed on the burly man’s face, hidden from Lucian’s sight. He stood up, beating his chest.
"We won’t disappoint you, my lord! All mercenaries prepare for battle! We will protect this place at all costs."
Right away mercenaries started to cheer, causing a few knights and guards to look at them in disgust; their greed was clear. But the guards know they do need their power in this crisis; who knows what they will face?
Just then, gradually the crowd started to silence, causing the burly man to frown. They needed more shouting. He turned around and saw guards and soldiers, even mercenaries, making a path for a person clad in red crimson armor and a helmet. It was a woman with red crimson.
As she passed, people looked at her in awe while guards and captains bowed. A brilliant man’s eyes twisted, He recognized that Ignasia very well.
She stopped right beside the paragon before gazing up towards him or saying "Lucian."
Lucian, He looked at her before closing his eyes, giving a light smile. That was his wife, the one who, despite being in a circle below him, almost killed him long, long ago in that very same armor.
The helmet slowly retreated, revealing her face. Her eyes were sharp as she gazed at others and the huge gate.
She raised up her sword, up in the air.
"Open the gates! All glory to Nozvan!" She shouted, it wasn’t light, nor was it loud, but despite that, everyone heard it.
The gate gradually opened as soldiers continued to lower the bridge. Revealing the vast land at the edge, rushing monster Right towards them like raging waves.
She moved forward, followed by the knights and followed by the Paragon itself. All the merchants’ comments were all gazing at the leading figure in fear despite them being men.
Right at that instant, the moment the door opened, an intense roar echoed, causing soldiers and those that didn’t attain mana yet to cover their ears.
Instantly all eyes gazed towards the hundred thousand mountains. A shadow slowly cast over the land before through the clouds that hid the blue moon.
Something flapped its wings, causing the clouds to disperse. Blocking the whole moon. It gazed down at the city.
Terrified expressions appeared on everyone’s faces. Even Lucian’s gaze becomes cold before muttering, ’5th rank mid-tier beast, Blood Wyvern.’
Hearing that,, theGuildmaster’s’s face sank in horror. 5th rank beast! A beast that can wipe oubigig cities! In a matter of a few moments! A beast that can only be fought by those who are above the fourth circle!
