I Can Talk to the Internal Organs-Chapter 263 - 230: Resolute Decision
Nighttime.
Around eleven o'clock.
Xie Yuguang suddenly sensed a commotion in the ward.
Slowly opening his eyes, he saw Mo Shuxiang helping her mother to the bathroom.
But shortly after they returned, the bed next door started moving stealthily again. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Although it was obvious they were trying hard not to make any noise, Xie Yuguang's fragile nerves were still startled awake.
His sleep was very light now, any small sound would wake him, and then it would be hard to fall asleep again.
However, he wasn't annoyed; he was just surprised by the lady's reaction.
Over the next two days, Xie Yuguang continued to observe the lady's changes.
He noticed that previously, the brother and sister would always feed the lady at mealtimes, even if she didn't want to eat, they would make her take a few bites. But over the past two days, the brother and sister didn't feed her anything.
An entire day passed where she ate nothing except for some traditional Chinese medicine when she went out.
Even healthy people feel hungry after skipping a meal, let alone a patient.
Xie Yuguang couldn't understand it.
But by the third evening, around seven or eight, the lady finally asked for food on her own.
This didn't surprise Xie Yuguang; anyone would want to eat after being hungry for a day or two.
But on the fourth day, when the brother and sister returned to the ward, they brought news that shocked Xie Yuguang.
"Are you kidding me? Can he really treat this?"
Mo Shulin laughed, "Yeah, he just mentioned it today. He has a few breast cancer and lung cancer patients there who are all receiving treatment."
Xie Yuguang widened his eyes, "Can he guarantee a cure?"
Mo Shulin was amused yet exasperated, "What are you thinking? Such a big hospital can't completely heal it, do you expect a Chinese medicine doctor to cure it instantly? Dr. Lu said the most he can do is manage it so that cancer doesn't affect normal life, meaning that even if there are cancer cells or tumors inside, they wouldn't affect eating or sleeping."
"I think that's enough. After all, the hospital hasn't eradicated the cancer cells despite trying so hard; it might be better not to try."
Xie Yuguang was puzzled, "But if cancer cells are left alive inside, how can they not affect health?"
Mo Shulin spread his hands, "How would I know, but that's what the doctor said. We just follow along. Besides, my mom's condition has indeed improved a bit; at least she's eating more now than before."
Xie Yuguang asked, "Would consulting a National Master of Chinese Medicine yield better results?"
Mo Shulin said, "I guess about the same. The doctors there say Dr. Lu's skills are on par with a National Master of Chinese Medicine."
On par!?
Xie Yuguang had been to Lu's Clinic.
He knew what Lu Jiu looked like.
He appeared even younger than himself, not looking thirty at all.
Could he be on par with a National Master of Chinese Medicine?
Xie Yuguang was incredulous, "Do you believe this?"
Mo Shulin laughed, "Whether or not anyone else recognizes him as a National Master of Chinese Medicine, it doesn't matter to me, as long as he can make my mom comfortable daily. Still, if he can't improve my mom's condition, no matter how much people hype him up, he's just a regular doctor in my eyes."
"If you're skeptical, then continue observing. But looking at your dad's condition, it would be best to plan early, as Chinese medicine isn't a magic bullet. Once it's dragged on too long, even if they can treat it, it might be challenging."
"Also, when we're here, you can question Dr. Lu, but when you visit the clinic, never question his medical skills in front of him."
Xie Yuguang asked, "Why not?"
Mo Shulin replied, "That's their rule — they won't treat those who don't believe."
Xie Yuguang found it odd, "Isn't it legally required that doctors can't refuse to see patients? How can he still dare to break the law?"
Mo Shulin, amused yet perplexed, explained, "They never claimed they wouldn't see you without a reason. If you don't believe in them, how can they treat you?"
In fact, doctors can refuse patients under specific conditions: they cannot refuse emergency cases, nor discriminate based on race, gender, religion, or financial status.
If a patient's condition is beyond a doctor's capacity or the doctor is already overworked, refusal is permissible as long as it aligns with ethics and morality.
While the medical field is a service industry, patients are not considered deities.
Xie Yuguang said, "If he doesn't treat my dad effectively, why should I trust him?"
Mo Shulin shook his hand, "Don't debate cause and effect here. I'm just giving a friendly reminder, but what you do is up to you!"
With that said, Mo Shulin stopped engaging with Xie Yuguang.
In the days that followed, Mo Shulin's mother continued taking traditional Chinese medicine.
After nearly half a month, the pain in her sides was significantly reduced.
Before treatment, she would groan and struggle to fall asleep because of the constant pain in her sides, sometimes a dull ache, other times burning, keeping her awake.
Getting one to two hours of decent sleep a night was rare.
Now, with the pain alleviated, she slept more soundly.
She began eating more day by day, and her life essence visibly revived.
The brother and sister, seeing this, were incredibly encouraged.
During this time, hospital tests showed her cancer cells hadn't changed and, in fact, slightly increased. However, the cancer cells that transferred to her bone marrow were under control.
Although these test results weren't promising, the improvement in her daily life was undeniable.
This made the siblings more determined about the herbal treatment.
Seeing the remarkable change in the woman in the same ward, Xie Yuguang's mind was finally swayed.
He decided to visit Lu's Clinic too.
After all, in recent days, his dad could hardly eat; in the last few days, he hadn't managed a single bite. Even force-feeding resulted in vomiting.
Upon assessment, the doctor stated further examinations were futile and suggested he arrange for discharge soon.
This was the key reason for his resolute decision.
Since Chinese medicine was effective and wouldn't distress his father, it was time to take the chance at the last moment.
At dawn the next day, Xie Yuguang brought his wife, and pushing a pre-purchased wheelchair, helped his father onto it and set off in his wife's car, heading straight for Lu's Clinic.
At four or five in the morning, Xie Yuguang arrived at Lu's Clinic.
The first time he came was after seven, and it was a sea of people.
Even at four or five, the crowd was daunting.
"What time does Dr. Lu open?"
"About six-thirty, I think. It used to be around seven, but Dr. Lu didn't want everyone waiting too long, so he made it earlier."
"That's good, only an hour or so to wait."
"What's your ailment?"
"Ah, psoriasis, it's been a chronic issue for years. Nothing ever cured it, but I hear Dr. Lu is pretty good, so I'm trying him."
"What's that? I've never heard of it."
"Psoriasis, it's called that in Western medicine."
"Oh, that thing. Last time I came, I think I saw Dr. Lu treat someone with it, like those gray-white large flakes on the skin."
"Really! Did it heal?"
"I think it was pretty much recovered. I ran into that guy three times, and the last time I saw him leaving very happily, and I haven't seen him back since."
