I Can Talk to the Internal Organs-Chapter 333 - 299: Adjust First with the Ritual Healing Skill
Lu Jiu TCM Hospital.
Department of Rare and Complicated Diseases.
Lu Jiu and Zheng Youli each had a desk.
Since the Ritual Healing Department was still under renovation, Lu Jiu instructed the directors of other departments to refer patients with mental distress or abnormal emotions to this department, giving Zheng Youli a chance to practice.
Otherwise, all the incoming patients would only be those with conditions reaching Jueyin. Even if the Ritual Healing Skill was powerful, there wouldn’t be any noticeable effect in a short time. If the doctor behaves oddly, few people would persist in treatment.
Therefore, by bringing in patients the Ritual Healing Department excelled at handling, Zheng Youli could build some trust with patients, which would facilitate future work.
However, their styles of treatment were quite different, causing many patients to be skeptical of Zheng Youli.
After taking a pulse, unlike other traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, who either used acupuncture or herbs, he typically chanted mantras in mid-air and drew talismans, placing one hand on the patient’s head as if transferring energy.
Many patients didn’t understand his way of treatment, so few came to see him. Without Lu Jiu vouching for him, it’s likely Zheng Youli wouldn’t have any patients.
However, soon after several rounds of treatment by Zheng Youli, several patients reported feeling better physically.
Especially those who were mentally oppressed felt noticeably more relieved after his conditioning.
As for Lu Jiu, his patients’ illnesses were particularly bizarre.
Of course, most of the diseases had one word in common: cancer.
Today, another cancer patient arrived, but her cancer wasn’t in the Five Viscera, it was esophageal cancer.
Lan Mei had already made a preliminary diagnosis for her.
The patient’s name was Liu Qian, twenty-three years old, and three months ago she had difficulty swallowing. Whenever she ate, food would get stuck in her esophagus and she couldn’t swallow it down, especially with harder foods like rice, accompanied by vomiting, blood vomiting, and bloody stools.
Simultaneously, the patient reported feeling pressure and burning pain behind her sternum. She also brought a film taken at the People’s Hospital, clearly showing a walnut-sized mass on the outer mid-esophagus, leading to the diagnosis of esophageal cancer.
However, since the patient was unwilling to undergo surgery, she came to Lu Jiu TCM Hospital for treatment.
After the diagnosis, Lan Mei concluded that the patient had dysphagia, but she wasn’t very confident about the treatment, so she referred the patient to Lu Jiu.
The term "dysphagia" refers to difficulty in swallowing; obstruction and dysphagia occur in the early stages of the disease when the condition is mild.
While "obstruction" often refers to later stages of the disease, where the condition is more severe.
This is a typical case of cancer caused by emotional and unhealthy lifestyle habits.
Dysphagia and obstruction result from excessive worrying and overthinking, accumulated exhaustion, and damage from excessive drinking and indulgence. Excessive worrying causes qi stagnation, and qi stagnation hinders transformation. Excessive drinking and indulgence damage the yin, causing depletion of vital essence and stasis of qi.
"I saw in Director Lan’s diagnosis that you seem to drink often?" Lu Jiu inquired.
Liu Qian nodded, "I have a few friends who like to drink, and we get together on weekends to have some drinks."
Lu Jiu said, "Can you quit?"
Liu Qian hesitated, "As long as I can get well, I will definitely quit."
Lu Jiu nodded, "It’s not just about quitting drinking; you also need to learn to control your emotions. Of course, when I say control, I don’t mean not to have emotions, but to know how to relieve them. In recent years, haven’t you been having setbacks in work and relationships?"
Liu Qian smiled bitterly, "Having a physique that attracts trashy people is just like this, I got used to it."
Lu Jiu said, "You’re not used to it; if you really let it go, you wouldn’t have gotten this illness."
Although alcohol harmed Liu Qian, it was far less damaging than her emotions.
It was evident that she was deeply invested in relationships and was hurt deeply as well.
Liu Qian said helplessly, "What can I do then?"
Lu Jiu said, "When it comes to matters of the heart, I can’t offer any advice, I can only urge you not to overthink. Excessive worrying is the root of your illness, and if you don’t adjust in this area, it will be hard to cure the disease completely."
Actually, Liu Qian’s illness is due to qi stagnation and blood stasis.
Many people’s illnesses initially manifest in the qi, affecting the blood.
What does that mean?
The saying that illness initially comes from qi indicates that most early-stage diseases are caused by emotional disturbances, with qi damage being the most common.
For example, anger injures the liver, causing liver qi stagnation, leading to chest and diaphragm obstruction, and causing symptoms like chest discomfort, errant straightening, and even gasping.
This condition usually worsens with depression and lightens with a relaxed mood.
Qi leads the blood, and blood nourishes qi; when qi moves, blood circulates, and when qi stagnates, blood congeals. If the condition persists, qi stagnation inevitably leads to blood stasis.
Liu Qian’s chest tightness and pain are really due to blood pain.
Because fixed pain indicates blood pain, while unfixed pain indicates qi pain.
Liu Qian’s pain is located behind the sternum and is immovable, indicating that blood stasis has formed.
However, the esophageal mass is not blood stasis, but phlegm.
Qi stagnation and blood stasis inevitably lead to phlegm-blood congealing, affecting the upper burner; if mild, it blocks, and if severe, it masses together to form a lump.
Dysphagia and obstruction typically involve phlegm-damp and dead blood clogging the stomach, with yang condensing above and yin depleting below.
The reason Liu Qian is still vomiting and having bloody stools is also due to Liver Qi stagnation, where the pathogenic Qi has harmed the Spleen Earth, causing the spleen to fail in controlling blood, leading to blood leaking out of the vessels.
Many people stay up late for long periods, damaging their Spleen and Stomach, which can also lead to blood in the stomach, making their stools appear black.
This kind of blood is distant blood, meaning it has to pass through the small and large intestines as it comes out of the stomach. By the time it mixes with stool, it has oxidized and hence appears black.
Some people drink coffee daily, and after damaging their Spleen and Stomach, they develop a series of stomach problems. These individuals also frequently have black stools.
However, Liu Qian’s issue isn’t rooted in the stomach but rather in blood stasis and phlegm dampness. Thus, the treatment focuses on two main points: invigorating the blood and resolving stasis, and regulating Qi and transforming phlegm.
But all these treatments are merely addressing symptoms. The stubbornness of cancer, and the fact that repeated treatments show little improvement, is largely due to the patient’s erratic emotions, which can affect the body’s Qi and subsequently the blood.
When Qi and Blood are chaotic, the Five Viscera and Six Bowels won’t fare well.
It’s not a big deal for a healthy person to have chaotic Qi and Blood, but how many cancer patients are truly healthy?
In such cases, can Qi and Blood afford to be disordered?
So, after treating many cancer patients, Lu Jiu summarized one point: those with a good mindset generally have a chance of recovery. However, for those who can’t adjust their mindset, the chances of curing them are particularly low.
No matter how much medication is used, no significant effect is seen.
Liu Qian sighed, "But I can’t control my mind. Whenever I’m unhappy, it starts wandering. What should I do about this?"
Eh?
How about trying the Ritual Healing Skill first?
Lu Jiu suddenly realized that since the Ritual Healing Skill can alleviate some mental and emotional issues, it would be worth letting Liu Qian try it out.
Once her emotions can be transformed, I can then use acupuncture and medicine to adjust her. Wouldn’t that be more perfect?
"Dr. Zheng, could I trouble you to take a look at this girl?" Lu Jiu called out.
Right then, Zheng Youli didn’t have any patients. Upon hearing Lu Jiu, he immediately got up and came over, "Alright, what’s the situation?"
Lu Jiu replied, "It’s just that her emotional status isn’t great, leading to Liver Qi stagnation, affecting her until now. Her thoughts aren’t aligned, and her emotions keep changing, further harming her Qi and Blood."
Zheng Youli understood, "Let me give it a try."
With that, Zheng Youli started drawing symbols, or rather, writing characters.
Lu Jiu had observed in recent days that Zheng Youli wasn’t randomly drawing symbols. He was actually writing very complex characters, with numerous strokes, and specific characters corresponded to specific ailments.
Quite magical.
Zheng Youli chanted while drawing, then slowly placed his left hand on Liu Qian’s head.
"What is he doing?" Liu Qian was confused.
Lu Jiu explained, "This is the Ritual Healing Skill, to help adjust your emotions."
Ritual Healing Skill?
Liu Qian was a bit bewildered!
It looked like some kind of shamans dancing in a TV drama.
Embarrassed, Liu Qian asked, "Will this work?"
Lu Jiu replied, "If it shows improvement, then yes. If not, then no. Before that, just consider it as a psychological cue. Believe in it first!"
In fact, Lu Jiu couldn’t clearly explain the principle of the Ritual Healing Skill.
However, Lu Jiu had seen several experiments, like the one conducted by a foreign social scientist. Two pots of plants were cultivated, one with positive energy and the other with negative energy. One pot heard words of praise daily, while the other received only vile abuse.
After a month, the praised plant grew well, while the abused one gradually withered.
The scientist concluded the terrifying power of language.
In Fusang, scientists conducted water and ice crystal experiments. Two cups of water were designated as positive and negative telekinesis groups. The negative group was cursed daily, while the positive one was praised. After a period, the water in the negative group began to stink.
Similarly, in ice crystal experiments, different music was played for two groups of ice crystals. When observed under a microscope magnified hundreds of times, the praised ice crystals displayed perfect hexagonal molecular structures, while the cursed ones showed distorted structures.
Lu Jiu felt that perhaps there truly is an invisible energy that can be transmitted through language or other means, affecting all things, including humans.
Plants, water, and even ice crystals cannot comprehend what is praise and what is abuse, but they likely sense the energy generated by human speech, which is invisible to humans.
Ancient people discovered this thousands of years ago, which is why music therapy emerged in the past.
Lu Jiu believes that the Ritual Healing Skill might be a method mastered by humans to influence others’ "telekinesis."
It can genuinely change a person’s spirit.
As everyone knows, a person’s spirit, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, represents the highest form of human existence.
The essence, Qi, and Blood in the human body are actually needed to nourish that crucial spirit.
The spirit is an invisible metaphysical existence governing all human activities!
In such a case, it perhaps explains why the Ritual Healing Skill can treat not only mental illnesses but also physical conditions.
