Chapter 16

Chen Hansheng was finally done with cleaning but he was now the one feeling icky.

“I’m going to take a shower. Just give me two minutes,” said Chen Hansheng with a frown.

Yang Shichao and Guo Shaoqiang were already growing impatient and started to complain. “Hurry up. You’re the only one who is being so busy.”

“‘Well, you chose me to be the room leader and now you can’t wait for me just for a few more minutes?”

Chen Hansheng argued back, picked up his change of clothes, and rushed into the bathroom.

When the sound of the shower came, Yang Shichao muttered, “I’m still the oldest here.”

The anticipation of going out together at night excited the residents of Room 602.

Things started to get lively in the room. Even Yang Shichao and Jin Yangming had somehow reconciled despite their conflict earlier.

Chen Hansheng cleaned himself slowly and carefully. This was Jiangling University Town, which meant there would be countless beauties walking around tonight. If he got drunk, he might even have a romantic encounter.

‘Although the possibility is relatively small, we should still be prepared. We can’t simply let a chance with a beauty go tonight!’

Chen Hansheng started to imagine all the flirtatious ways he would pick up girls. He then quickly realized that it had gone silent outside. He thought for a moment and felt that something was wrong. He walked out after putting on a pair of underpants and was shocked.

Professor Guo Zhongyun was standing in the room and his roommates were cowering before him. They had their heads lowered and did not dare to make a sound.

“What are you guys so dressed up for?”

Guo Zhongyun targeted the five roommates and ignored Chen Hansheng since he had just gotten out of the shower.

Jin Yangming stole a glance at Chen Hansheng because this was the latter’s idea. However, he did not dare to rat Hansheng out so he remained silent along with the others.

Guo Zhongyun knew something was up and was just about to keep questioning when Chen Hansheng quickly put his shirt on and walked towards them. “Professor Guo, we had just cleaned the balcony and felt a little hungry, so I suggested that we go out for supper.”

The roommates heaved a huge sigh of relief the moment they heard Chen Hansheng take responsibility. Plus, he had even credited them for the balcony cleaning earlier.

However, little did they expect that Guo Zhongyun would be more fixated on the clean balcony than the fact that they were about to go out late at night.

He walked over to the balcony and praised them. “Room 602, you did well. I was just finishing my rounds throughout the male dorm and you were the only ones who took such an initiative.

“Alright, then. I won’t keep you from having supper. But do be careful and don’t be out for too long.”

Guo Zhongyun turned around to leave.

The five roommates did not expect Professor Guo to let them off so easily.

They were still stuck in high school student mode where teachers were ready to meddle with every aspect of their lives. However, they were now university students and the teachers here would not go too far.

Guo Zhongyun had been a professor at the university for a long time. Thus, he understood the boundaries of the university. He could not be bothered to ask about the private lives of a bunch of young adults.

Just as Guo Zhongyun was about to step out of the room, Chen Hansheng suddenly shouted after him. “Professor Guo, if you’re free tonight, let’s go together.”

“What?!”

Jin Yangming almost cried out. It was not easy to get the professor to leave, so why would they bring him long? Besides, Guo Zhongyun would definitely not agree.

But Chen Hansheng had his own plans. Thus, he knew that Guo Zhongyun would agree.

And just as Chen Hansheng had expected, Guo Zhongyun pretended to hesitate for a moment before saying “Alright, but no drinking.”

“No problem, as you wish, Professor.”

Chen Hansheng agreed readily. He knew that there would be nothing the professor would be able to do once they’re at the table. How could he enforce that rule when seated with six rowdy university students? Besides, he was doing his rounds to get to know the students. Wouldn’t tonight be to his benefit?

The other roommates looked at each other. If Chen Hansheng’s bold invitation surprised them, then the professor’ss answer finally made them understand what university life was all about.

It was relatively loose, not completely free, and still required a certain degree of effort within the rules of law.

As they were leaving, Guo Zhongyun looked at Room 605 and hesitated for a moment.

Room 605 also had students from Public Administration Class 2. Chen Hansheng thought about it and understood what Professor Guo was thinking about. He asked, “Should we invite all the male students in our class? We can treat it as an early class meeting.”

“Nah, that’s probably not a good idea.”

Guo Zhongyun was a little hesitant even though Chen Hansheng’s suggestion was exactly what he wanted.

“What’s wrong with that? I’ll go call them.”

Chen Hansheng took out a pack of cigarettes and walked over without hesitation.

In less than two minutes, there was a commotion in Room 605. Then, he saw Chen Hansheng come out with six boys. Some of them were putting on their clothes as they walked out – they had obviously been pulled out of bed.

Then, Chen Hansheng used some unknown method to call out the boys from the other three rooms.

“Professor Guo, all twenty-seven boys from Public Administration Class 2 are here!”

Chen Hansheng told Professor Guo.

Guo Zhongyun found Chen Hansheng very good at organizing. They were all strangers at this point but Chen Hansheng had no issues calling them out. He must have used his brain.

However, Guo Zhongyun didn’t dwell on the details. This was one of the good things about being a university professor. They only looked at the results and rarely paid attention to the process. It was easy and not tiring.

“Let’s go!”

Guo Zhongyun was in high spirits.

A group of male students walked out of the campus in high spirits. When they passed the school gate, Guo Zhongyun showed his identification card.

With the professor’s endorsement, the security guard opened the door happily.

However, before he left, Chen Hansheng walked over and handed a cigarette to the security guard, then said something.

After Chen Hansheng returned to the team, Guo Zhongyun said, “It’s okay. I’ve already told them.”

With a cigarette in his mouth, Chen Hansheng offered another cigarette to Guo Zhongyun, then said with a smile, “I’m not sure until what time we’ll drink tonight. I just told him to remember to leave the door open when they change shifts and not to lock us out.”

‘This kid really can do anything.’

Guo Zhongyun looked at Chen Hansheng seriously. His thick lenses reflected the dim yellow light of the streetlamp. He thought that Chen Hansheng had the ability to organize and do things well. He had also talked quite eloquently during registration that afternoon. He seemed to be performing better than Hu Linyu.

Guo Zhongyun had initially planned to appoint the proactive Hu Linyu as the class president. But he now felt that Chen Hansheng was more suitable.

Being the class president was an important role in university. The role allowed the student to form closer relationships with professors, thus benefitting their future, especially in terms of job prospects.

Now, the question was whether Chen Hansheng wanted to take on the role since it can be quite tiring. In addition, he did not know if Hansheng would be able to convince the public.

‘I’ll observe him for another two days,’ Guo Zhongyun thought to himself.

Just like that, Chen Yingjun became one of the class president candidates. The weight of being one was much heavier than being a room leader.

Chen Hansheng wanted to open up a business in the university, and being class president was a necessary step. Otherwise, why would he go through so much trouble to prove himself?
