Chapter 58: Unexpected Entry

The commotion in the area as far as the eye could see turned to a deafening silence.

It didn’t matter if it was kids, adults, or elders. Nobles, merchants, or common folk.

All froze and beheld Magnus as he stood tall atop his massive steed.

They were all of course shook by the immense entrance of the young man.

Sin’s left brow finally lowered, nearly cramping while it was up there.

All lowered their gazes lightly, fear crawling up their spines.

’Just who is this guy?’ Sin mused, ’I still don’t know about his identity.’

Magnus hopped off of the horse, landing on the ground with an overly powerful crash that was clearly on purpose.

With a serious and stern look on his face, he walked straight forward and toward the entrance of the marquee. His strides were long and confident, his hands tucked into his pockets.

His white horse abruptly disappeared into a mist of white dust before getting sucked into one of his rings.

Those who he passed looked at the ground, not daring to stare at him.

Sin glanced at the guard, smirking slightly as he saw the large man’s expression turn pale.

’He’s about to piss himself.’ He thought for a moment, amused.

The guard’s body language mimicked that of a eunuch, his shoulders drooped and his body caved in.

Sin then turned to look at Magnus as the young man walked by him.

Just as Magnus got beside Sin, however, he suddenly stopped.

This mere movement was enough to make a few flinch with surprise--including the guard.

Magnus turned, staring Sin back in the eyes.

Magnus’ azure eyes felt almost unnaturally bright--imbued with Spirit Energy.

"Huh... its you again." Magnus said only this. He sounded like he was making an observation.

Right now, hundreds of people were looking at Sin and Magnus from various distances--far and close.

Those right behind Sin were shocked--at a loss as to why Magnus was speaking to the random boy.

’Is he some sort of royal?’

’Who is that boy?’

’Why is he talking to him?’

’Don’t tell me that’s a royal that no one noticed...’

"I could say the same thing," Sin replied in a nonchalant tone.

This reply left everyone even more speechless.

The guard’s lips curled into a frown, ’Casual... its too damn casual! Why the hell is he talking to Magnus in such a normal way? Have I made some sort of mistake?’

Due to his overwhelming fear in front of Magnus, the guard’s thoughts began to spin out of control.

’Come to think about it, this kid only raised his eyebrow at me. As if he didn’t care about my threats. Is he also a noble? A royal perhaps? Fuck!’ His lips began to quiver, the worst of thoughts entering his head as he gulped.

Magnus scoffed, "You’re a goofy one." He said in a condescending yet light tone. It was clear by the way he spoke that he didn’t intend any disrespect--this was simply the way he spoke.

And it wasn’t like Magnus was purposefully not trying to disrespect Sin. Instead, it was like he didn’t care enough to hold any ill will toward Sin.

"A goofy one? What do you mean by that?" Sin replied, confused at what Magnus was referring to.

"A goofy peasant. No other plebeian has stared into my eyes and spoken with that tone. But you... you are moronic enough to do just that!" Magnus smirked while staring at Sin’s eyes. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Sin’s eyebrows furrowed, ’Is this guy serious? I can’t even tell if he wants to pick a fight with me or if he’s genuinely speaking his mind. Either way, I’m not letting that slide.’

"Watch your tongue." Sin said in a low tone, his unwavering eyes narrowing slightly as his jaw clenched.

The guard’s soul nearly left his body as he heard that.

Several gasps rippled across the line and crowd that had formed around the entrance of the marquee--shock resounding through the carnival.

A wave of whispers fell over the crowd:

"Is he serious!?"

"Did he really just say that!?"

"No way..."

"He’s dead."

"I hope he goes to heaven."

"I can’t believe he just said that."

"A dead man walking..."

Magnus paused, his smile disappearing.

"Huh?" He questioned in a low, almost hostile, and threatening tone. While only saying that one word, Sin understood multiple meanings.

Magnus wasn’t just asking what Sin had said. He was asking what Sin meant by that. He was judging what Sin’s intentions were.

"I have never once intended to entertain you." Sin said just this much before Magnus burst out into a laugh.

"Hahaha!" The young man placed his palm on his stomach, "Of course not! You don’t need to!"

He tapped Sin on the back of the shoulder before brazenly turning and walking inside the marquee.

The guard quickly moved to the side as Magnus approached.

Sin didn’t nudge an inch after getting hit. However, his eyeslids widened as red veins instantly spread all over his eyes like spider webs.

He let out a slight grunt, ’What... the hell was that...’

Magnus’ tap seemed innocent and friendly from the outside, but it was like taking a hit of lightning straight to the shoulder.

A spark of excruciating pain had been released into Sin’s body with a single touch.

It traveled through his limbs and organs, rushing through even his heart like a line of molten magma.

For a split second, Sin felt an immense pain like that of the Elder Water Drake’s stomach acid.

’He definitely intended to do that. So damn powerful... he’s just toying with me.’ Sin hated this feeling of helplessness.

He wasn’t going to back down, but the feeling of having no power to actually fight back was crushing.

On top of that, Magnus didn’t even attack him for others to see. Instead, he gave Sin a world of pain that only he recognized--like a kid playing around only for his own fun.

It was clear that Magnus didn’t want to embarrass Sin, but to simply make Sin understand the difference between him and Magnus.

’That guy is not the arrogant fool he fronts...’ Sin thought, tightening his fists, ’But I can’t understand him. I can’t read him at all...’

Inside the marquee, Magnus also had fairly similar thoughts:

’That guy is pretty unreadable. It’s not just the way he speaks... any buffoon can do that. But that look in his eyes. As if he isn’t lower than me--no... its as if he thinks he’s even greater. Why? Does he really believe that? Is that even what it is?’

There was something indescribable that was in Sin’s aura. It wasn’t just physical, but intuitive. Magnus could tell something was different, but couldn’t pinpoint it.

He was quite confused. He had lived what he considered a very boring and monotone life that felt the same every single day.

Of course, others would think his life was a rollercoaster of events and emotions.

But for Magnus, whatever he did and wherever he went gave him the same results--absolute adoration. Worship. Submission.

What did it matter what he did or how he performed if all the reactions were the same anyway? There was no difference between that and the life of an average wage worker to Magnus.

However, Sin was the first person who had broken that veil. Not in the way he acted, but in the way he seemed to view Magnus.

It wasn’t just entertaining. It was intriguing... and that was a rare commodity in Magnus’ life.

With a slight smile, Magnus blended further into the marquee’s auction.

Outside, Sin faced the guard again.
